4. Surah An-Nisa The Women

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

In the name of Allah, All-Merciful, Most Merciful

يَٓا اَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذ۪ي خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَخَلَقَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنْهُمَا رِجَالاً كَث۪يراً وَنِسَٓاءًۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ الَّذ۪ي تَسَٓاءَلُونَ بِه۪ وَالْاَرْحَامَۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَق۪يباً

Ya ayyuha annasuittaqoo rabbakumu allathee khalaqakum min nafsin wahidatinwakhalaqa minha zawjaha wabaththa minhumarijalan katheeran wanisaan wattaqoo Allahaallathee tasaaloona bihi wal-arhamainna Allaha kana AAalaykum raqeeb

O mankind! have taqwa of your Lord who created you from a single self and created its mate from it and then disseminated many men and women from the two of them. Have taqwa of Allah in whose name you make demands on one another and also in respect of your families. Allah watches over you continually.

وَاٰتُوا الْيَتَامٰٓى اَمْوَالَهُمْ وَلَا تَتَبَدَّلُوا الْخَب۪يثَ بِالطَّيِّبِۖ وَلَا تَأْكُلُٓوا اَمْوَالَهُمْ اِلٰٓى اَمْوَالِكُمْۜ اِنَّهُ كَانَ حُوباً كَب۪يراً

Waatoo alyatama amwalahumwala tatabaddaloo alkhabeetha bittayyibiwala ta/kuloo amwalahum ila amwalikuminnahu kana hooban kabeera

Give orphans their property, and do not substitute bad things for good. Do not assimilate their property into your own. Doing that is a serious crime.

وَاِنْ خِفْتُمْ اَلَّا تُـقْسِطُوا فِي الْيَتَامٰى فَانْكِحُوا مَا طَابَ لَكُمْ مِنَ النِّسَٓاءِ مَثْنٰى وَثُلٰثَ وَرُبَاعَۚ فَاِنْ خِفْتُمْ اَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا فَوَاحِدَةً اَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْۜ ذٰلِكَ اَدْنٰٓى اَلَّا تَعُولُواۜ

Wa-in khiftum alla tuqsitoo feealyatama fankihoo ma tabalakum mina annisa-i mathna wathulathawarubaAAa fa-in khiftum alla taAAdiloo fawahidatanaw ma malakat aymanukum thalika adnaalla taAAooloo

If you are afraid of not behaving justly towards orphans, then marry other permissible women, two, three or four. But if you are afraid of not treating them equally, then only one, or those you own as slaves. That makes it more likely that you will not be unfair.

وَاٰتُوا النِّسَٓاءَ صَدُقَاتِهِنَّ نِحْلَةًۜ فَاِنْ طِبْنَ لَكُمْ عَنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْهُ نَفْساً فَكُلُوهُ هَن۪ٓيـٔاً مَر۪ٓيـٔاً

Waatoo annisaa saduqatihinnanihlatan fa-in tibna lakum AAan shay-in minhunafsan fakuloohu hanee-an maree-a

Give women their dowry as an outright gift. But if they are happy to give you some of it, make use of it with pleasure and goodwill.

وَلَا تُؤْتُوا السُّفَـهَٓاءَ اَمْوَالَكُمُ الَّت۪ي جَعَلَ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ قِيَاماً وَارْزُقُوهُمْ ف۪يهَا وَاكْسُوهُمْ وَقُولُوا لَهُمْ قَوْلاً مَعْرُوفاً

Wala tu/too assufahaaamwalakumu allatee jaAAala Allahu lakum qiyamanwarzuqoohum feeha waksoohum waqooloo lahumqawlan maAAroofa

Do not hand over to the simple-minded any property of theirs for which Allah has made you responsible, but provide for them and clothe them out of it, and speak to them correctly and courteously.

وَابْتَلُوا الْيَتَامٰى حَتّٰٓى اِذَا بَلَغُوا النِّكَاحَۚ فَاِنْ اٰنَسْتُمْ مِنْهُمْ رُشْداً فَادْفَعُٓوا اِلَيْهِمْ اَمْوَالَهُمْۚ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوهَٓا اِسْرَافاً وَبِدَاراً اَنْ يَكْـبَرُواۜ وَمَنْ كَانَ غَنِياًّ فَلْيَسْتَعْفِفْۚ وَمَنْ كَانَ فَق۪يراً فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ فَاِذَا دَفَعْتُمْ اِلَيْهِمْ اَمْوَالَهُمْ فَاَشْهِدُوا عَلَيْهِمْۜ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ حَس۪يباً

Wabtaloo alyatama hattaitha balaghoo annikaha fa-in anastumminhum rushdan fadfaAAoo ilayhim amwalahum walata/kulooha israfan wabidaran an yakbaroowaman kana ghaniyyan falyastaAAfif waman kanafaqeeran falya/kul bilmaAAroofi fa-itha dafaAAtumilayhim amwalahum faashhidoo AAalayhim wakafa billahihaseeba

Keep a close check on orphans until they reach a marriageable age, then if you perceive that they have sound judgement hand over their property to them. Do not consume it extravagantly and precipitately before they come of age. Those who are wealthy should abstain from it altogether. Those who are poor should use it sensibly and correctly. When you hand over their property to them ensure that there are witnesses on their behalf. Allah suffices as a Reckoner.

لِلرِّجَالِ نَص۪يبٌ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْاَقْرَبُونَۖ وَلِلنِّسَٓاءِ نَص۪يبٌ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْاَقْرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنْهُ اَوْ كَثُرَۜ نَص۪يباً مَفْرُوضاً

Lirrijali naseebun mimmataraka alwalidani wal-aqraboona walinnisa-inaseebun mimma taraka alwalidani wal-aqraboonamimma qalla minhu aw kathura naseeban mafrooda

Men receive a share of what their parents and relatives leave and women receive a share of what their parents and relatives leave, a fixed share, no matter whether it is a little or a lot.

وَاِذَا حَضَرَ الْقِسْمَةَ اُو۬لُوا الْقُرْبٰى وَالْيَتَامٰى وَالْمَسَاك۪ينُ فَارْزُقُوهُمْ مِنْهُ وَقُولُوا لَهُمْ قَوْلاً مَعْرُوفاً

Wa-itha hadara alqismataoloo alqurba walyatama walmasakeenufarzuqoohum minhu waqooloo lahum qawlan maAAroofa

If other relatives or orphans or poor people attend the sharing-out, provide for them out of it and speak to them correctly and courteously.

وَلْيَخْشَ الَّذ۪ينَ لَوْ تَرَكُوا مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّةً ضِعَافاً خَافُوا عَلَيْهِمْۖ فَلْيَتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَلْيَقُولُوا قَوْلاً سَد۪يداً

Walyakhsha allatheena law tarakoo minkhalfihim thurriyyatan diAAafan khafooAAalayhim falyattaqoo Allaha walyaqooloo qawlan sadeeda

People should show concern in the same way that they would fear for small children if they were to die leaving them behind. They should have taqwa of Allah and say words that are appropriate.

اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ يَأْكُلُونَ اَمْوَالَ الْيَتَامٰى ظُلْماً اِنَّمَا يَأْكُلُونَ ف۪ي بُطُونِهِمْ نَاراًۜ وَسَيَصْلَوْنَ سَع۪يراً۟

Inna allatheena ya/kuloona amwalaalyatama thulman innamaya/kuloona fee butoonihim naran wasayaslawnasaAAeera

People who consume the property of orphans wrongfully consume nothing in their bellies except fire. They will roast in a Searing Blaze.

يُوص۪يكُمُ اللّٰهُ ف۪ٓي اَوْلَادِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِۚ فَاِنْ كُنَّ نِسَٓاءً فَوْقَ اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَۚ وَاِنْ كَانَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَلَهَا النِّصْفُۜ وَلِاَبَوَيْهِ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا السُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ اِنْ كَانَ لَهُ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلَدٌ وَوَرِثَهُٓ اَبَوَاهُ فَلِاُمِّهِ الثُّلُثُۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَهُٓ اِخْوَةٌ فَلِاُمِّهِ السُّدُسُ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوص۪ي بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ اٰبَٓاؤُ۬كُمْ وَاَبْنَٓاؤُ۬كُمْۚ لَا تَدْرُونَ اَيُّهُمْ اَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ نَفْعاًۚ فَر۪يضَةً مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً

Yooseekumu Allahu fee awladikumliththakari mithlu haththialonthayayni fa-in kunna nisaan fawqa ithnatayni falahunnathulutha ma taraka wa-in kanat wahidatanfalaha annisfu wali-abawayhi likulli wahidinminhuma assudusu mimma taraka in kanalahu waladun fa-in lam yakun lahu waladun wawarithahu abawahufali-ommihi aththuluthu fa-in kana lahu ikhwatunfali-ommihi assudusu min baAAdi wasiyyatin yooseebiha aw daynin abaokum waabnaokum latadroona ayyuhum aqrabu lakum nafAAan fareedatan mina Allahiinna Allaha kana AAaleeman hakeema

Allah instructs you regarding your children: A male receives the same as the share of two females. If there are more than two daughters they receive two-thirds of what you leave. If she is one on her own she receives a half. Each of your parents receives a sixth of what you leave if you have children. If you are childless and your heirs are your parents your mother receives a third. If you have brothers or sisters your mother receives a sixth, after any bequest you make or any debts. With regard to your fathers and your sons, you do not know which of them is going to benefit you more. These are obligatory shares from Allah. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ اَزْوَاجُكُمْ اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوص۪ينَ بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ وَلَهُنَّ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ الثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ وَاِنْ كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَالَةً اَوِ امْرَاَةٌ وَلَهُٓ اَخٌ اَوْ اُخْتٌ فَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا السُّدُسُۚ فَاِنْ كَانُٓوا اَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَٓاءُ فِي الثُّلُثِ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصٰى بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۙ غَيْرَ مُضَٓارٍّۚ وَصِيَّةً مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ حَل۪يمٌۜ

Walakum nisfu ma taraka azwajukumin lam yakun lahunna waladun fa-in kana lahunna waladunfalakumu arrubuAAu mimma tarakna min baAAdi wasiyyatinyooseena biha aw daynin walahunna arrubuAAumimma taraktum in lam yakun lakum waladun fa-in kanalakum waladun falahunna aththumunu mimma taraktummin baAAdi wasiyyatin toosoona biha awdaynin wa-in kana rajulun yoorathu kalalatan awiimraatun walahu akhun aw okhtun falikulli wahidin minhumaassudusu fa-in kanoo akthara min thalikafahum shurakao fee aththuluthi min baAAdi wasiyyatinyoosa biha aw daynin ghayra mudarrin wasiyyatanmina Allahi wallahu AAaleemun haleem

You receive half of what your wives leave if they are childless. If they have children you receive a quarter of what they leave after any bequest they make or any debts. They receive a quarter of what you leave if you are childless. If you have children they receive an eighth of what you leave after any bequest you make or any debts. If a man or woman has no direct heirs, but has a brother or sister, each of them receives a sixth. If there are more than that they share in a third after any bequest you make or any debts, making sure that no one’s rights are prejudiced. This is an instruction from Allah. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Forbearing.

تِلْكَ حُدُودُ اللّٰهِۜ وَمَنْ يُطِـعِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْر۪ي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهَارُ خَالِد۪ينَ ف۪يهَاۜ وَذٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظ۪يمُ

Tilka hudoodu Allahi waman yutiAAiAllaha warasoolahu yudkhilhu jannatin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu khalideena feeha wathalikaalfawzu alAAatheem

These are Allah’s limits. As for those who obey Allah and His Messenger, We will admit them into Gardens with rivers flowing under them, remaining in them timelessly, for ever. That is the Great Victory.

وَمَنْ يَعْصِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَهُ يُدْخِلْهُ نَاراً خَالِداً ف۪يهَاۖ وَلَهُ عَذَابٌ مُه۪ينٌ۟

Waman yaAAsi Allahawarasoolahu wayataAAadda hudoodahu yudkhilhu narankhalidan feeha walahu AAathabun muheen

As for him who disobeys Allah and His Messenger and oversteps His limits, We will admit him into a Fire, to remain in it timelessly, for ever. He will have a humiliating punishment.

وَالّٰت۪ي يَأْت۪ينَ الْفَاحِشَةَ مِنْ نِسَٓائِكُمْ فَاسْتَشْهِدُوا عَلَيْهِنَّ اَرْبَعَةً مِنْكُمْۚ فَاِنْ شَهِدُوا فَاَمْسِكُوهُنَّ فِي الْبُيُوتِ حَتّٰى يَتَوَفّٰيهُنَّ الْمَوْتُ اَوْ يَجْعَلَ اللّٰهُ لَهُنَّ سَب۪يلاً

Wallatee ya/teena alfahishatamin nisa-ikum fastashhidoo AAalayhinna arbaAAatanminkum fa-in shahidoo faamsikoohunna fee albuyooti hattayatawaffahunna almawtu aw yajAAala Allahu lahunnasabeela

If any of your women commit fornication, four of you must be witnesses against them. If they bear witness, detain them in their homes until death releases them or Allah ordains another procedure for their case.

وَالَّذَانِ يَأْتِيَانِهَا مِنْكُمْ فَاٰذُوهُمَاۚ فَاِنْ تَابَا وَاَصْلَحَا فَاَعْرِضُوا عَنْهُمَاۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ تَـوَّاباً رَح۪يماً

Wallathani ya/tiyanihaminkum faathoohuma fa-in taba waaslahafaaAAridoo AAanhuma inna Allaha kanatawwaban raheema

If two men commit a like abomination, punish them. If they make tawba and reform, leave them alone. Allah is Ever-Returning, Most Merciful.

اِنَّمَا التَّوْبَةُ عَلَى اللّٰهِ لِلَّذ۪ينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السُّٓوءَ بِجَهَالَةٍ ثُمَّ يَتُوبُونَ مِنْ قَر۪يبٍ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ يَتُوبُ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِمْۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً

Innama attawbatu AAalaAllahi lillatheena yaAAmaloona assoo-abijahalatin thumma yatooboona min qareebin faola-ikayatoobu Allahu AAalayhim wakana AllahuAAaleeman hakeema

Allah only accepts the tawba of those who do evil in ignorance and then quickly make tawba after doing it. Allah turns towards such people. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

وَلَيْسَتِ التَّوْبَةُ لِلَّذ۪ينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّـَٔاتِۚ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا حَضَرَ اَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ اِنّ۪ي تُبْتُ الْـٰٔنَ وَلَا الَّذ۪ينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ اَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَاباً اَل۪يماً

Walaysati attawbatu lillatheenayaAAmaloona assayyi-ati hatta ithahadara ahadahumu almawtu qala inneetubtu al-ana wala allatheena yamootoonawahum kuffarun ola-ika aAAtadna lahum AAathabanaleema

There is no tawba for people who persist in doing evil until death comes to them and who then say, ‘Now I make tawba,’ nor for people who die kafir. We have prepared for them a painful punishment.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا لَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ اَنْ تَرِثُوا النِّسَٓاءَ كَرْهاًۜ وَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ لِتَذْهَبُوا بِبَعْضِ مَٓا اٰتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يَأْت۪ينَ بِفَاحِشَةٍ مُبَيِّنَةٍۚ وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۚ فَاِنْ كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسٰٓى اَنْ تَكْرَهُوا شَيْـٔاً وَيَجْعَلَ اللّٰهُ ف۪يهِ خَيْراً كَث۪يراً

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola yahillu lakum an tarithoo annisaakarhan wala taAAduloohunna litathhaboobibaAAdi ma ataytumoohunna illa anya/teena bifahishatin mubayyinatin waAAashiroohunnabilmaAAroofi fa-in karihtumoohunna faAAasa antakrahoo shay-an wayajAAala Allahu feehi khayran katheera

You who have iman! it is not halal for you to inherit women by force. Nor may you treat them harshly so that you can make off with part of what you have given them, unless they commit an act of flagrant indecency. Live together with them correctly and courteously. If you dislike them, it may well be that you dislike something in which Allah has placed a lot of good.

وَاِنْ اَرَدْتُمُ اسْتِبْدَالَ زَوْجٍ مَكَانَ زَوْجٍۙ وَاٰتَيْتُمْ اِحْدٰيهُنَّ قِنْطَاراً فَلَا تَأْخُذُوا مِنْهُ شَيْـٔاًۜ اَتَأْخُذُونَهُ بُهْتَاناً وَاِثْماً مُب۪يناً

Wa-in aradtumu istibdala zawjin makanazawjin waataytum ihdahunna qintaranfala ta/khuthoo minhu shay-an ata/khuthoonahubuhtanan wa-ithman mubeena

If you desire to exchange one wife for another and have given your original wife a large amount, do not take any of it. Would you take it by means of slander and outright crime?

وَكَيْفَ تَأْخُذُونَهُ وَقَدْ اَفْضٰى بَعْضُكُمْ اِلٰى بَعْضٍ وَاَخَذْنَ مِنْكُمْ م۪يثَاقاً غَل۪يظاً

Wakayfa ta/khuthoonahu waqad afdabaAAdukum ila baAAdin waakhathnaminkum meethaqan ghaleetha

How could you take it when you have been intimate with one another and they have made a binding contract with you?

وَلَا تَنْكِحُوا مَا نَكَحَ اٰبَٓاؤُ۬كُمْ مِنَ النِّسَٓاءِ اِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَۜ اِنَّهُ كَانَ فَاحِشَةً وَمَقْتاًۜ وَسَٓاءَ سَب۪يلاً۟

Wala tankihoo ma nakahaabaokum mina annisa-i illa maqad salafa innahu kana fahishatan wamaqtan wasaasabeela

Do not marry any women your fathers married – except for what may have already taken place. That is an indecent act, a loathsome thing and an evil path.

حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ اُمَّهَاتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُكُمْ وَاَخَوَاتُكُمْ وَعَمَّاتُكُمْ وَخَالَاتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُ الْاَخِ وَبَنَاتُ الْاُخْتِ وَاُمَّهَاتُكُمُ الّٰت۪ٓي اَرْضَعْنَكُمْ وَاَخَوَاتُكُمْ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ وَاُمَّهَاتُ نِسَٓائِكُمْ وَرَبَٓائِبُكُمُ الّٰت۪ي ف۪ي حُجُورِكُمْ مِنْ نِسَٓائِكُمُ الّٰت۪ي دَخَلْتُمْ بِهِنَّۘ فَاِنْ لَمْ تَكُونُوا دَخَلْتُمْ بِهِنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْۘ وَحَلَٓائِلُ اَبْنَٓائِكُمُ الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ اَصْلَابِكُمْۙ وَاَنْ تَجْمَعُوا بَيْنَ الْاُخْتَيْنِ اِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ غَفُوراً رَح۪يماًۙ

Hurrimat AAalaykum ommahatukumwabanatukum waakhawatukum waAAammatukum wakhalatukumwabanatu al-akhi wabanatu al-okhti waommahatukumuallatee ardaAAnakum waakhawatukum mina arradaAAatiwaommahatu nisa-ikum waraba-ibukumu allateefee hujoorikum min nisa-ikumu allateedakhaltum bihinna fa-in lam takoonoo dakhaltum bihinna falajunaha AAalaykum wahala-ilu abna-ikumuallatheena min aslabikum waan tajmaAAoobayna al-okhtayni illa ma qad salafa inna Allahakana ghafooran raheema

Haram for you are: your mothers and your daughters and your sisters, your maternal aunts and your paternal aunts, your brothers’ daughters and your sisters’ daughters, your foster mothers who have suckled you, your foster sisters by suckling, your wives’ mothers, your stepdaughters who are under your protection: the daughters of your wives whom you have had sexual relations with (though if you have not had sexual relations with them there is nothing blameworthy for you in it then), the wives of your sons whom you have fathered, and marrying two sisters at the same time – except for what may have already taken place. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ النِّسَٓاءِ اِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْۚ كِتَابَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْۘ وَاُحِلَّ لَكُمْ مَا وَرَٓاءَ ذٰلِكُمْ اَنْ تَبْتَغُوا بِاَمْوَالِكُمْ مُحْصِن۪ينَ غَيْرَ مُسَافِح۪ينَۜ فَمَا اسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِه۪ مِنْهُنَّ فَاٰتُوهُنَّ اُجُورَهُنَّ فَر۪يضَةًۜ وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ ف۪يمَا تَرَاضَيْتُمْ بِه۪ مِنْ بَعْدِ الْفَر۪يضَةِۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً

Walmuhsanatu mina annisa-iilla ma malakat aymanukum kitaba AllahiAAalaykum waohilla lakum ma waraa thalikuman tabtaghoo bi-amwalikum muhsineena ghayra musafiheenafama istamtaAAtum bihi minhunna faatoohunnaojoorahunna fareedatan wala junaha AAalaykumfeema taradaytum bihi min baAAdi alfareedatiinna Allaha kana AAaleeman hakeema

And also married women, except for those you have taken in war as slaves. This is what Allah has prescribed for you. Apart from that He has made all other women halal for you provided you seek them with your wealth in marriage and not in fornication. When you consummate your marriage with them give them their prescribed dowry. There is nothing wrong in any further agreement you might come to after the dowry has been given. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

وَمَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِـعْ مِنْكُمْ طَوْلاً اَنْ يَنْكِـحَ الْمُحْصَنَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ فَمِنْ مَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْ مِنْ فَتَيَاتِكُمُ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِۜ وَاللّٰهُ اَعْلَمُ بِا۪يمَانِكُمْۜ بَعْضُكُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍۚ فَانْكِحُوهُنَّ بِاِذْنِ اَهْلِهِنَّ وَاٰتُوهُنَّ اُجُورَهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ مُحْصَنَاتٍ غَيْرَ مُسَافِحَاتٍ وَلَا مُتَّخِذَاتِ اَخْدَانٍۚ فَاِذَٓا اُحْصِنَّ فَاِنْ اَتَيْنَ بِفَاحِشَةٍ فَعَلَيْهِنَّ نِصْفُ مَا عَلَى الْمُحْصَنَاتِ مِنَ الْعَذَابِۜ ذٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِيَ الْعَنَتَ مِنْكُمْۜ وَاَنْ تَصْبِرُوا خَيْرٌ لَكُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ غَفُورٌ رَح۪يمٌ۟

Waman lam yastatiAA minkum tawlanan yankiha almuhsanati almu/minatifamin ma malakat aymanukum min fatayatikumualmu/minati wallahu aAAlamu bi-eemanikumbaAAdukum min baAAdin fankihoohunnabi-ithni ahlihinna waatoohunna ojoorahunna bilmaAAroofimuhsanatin ghayra masafihatin walamuttakhithati akhdanin fa-itha ohsinnafa-in atayna bifahishatin faAAalayhinna nisfu maAAala almuhsanati mina alAAathabi thalikaliman khashiya alAAanata minkum waan tasbiroo khayrunlakum wallahu ghafoorun raheem

If any of you do not have the means to marry free women who are muminun, you may marry slavegirls who are muminun. Allah knows best about your iman; you are all the same in that respect. Marry them with their owners’ permission and give them their dowries correctly and courteously as married women, not in fornication or taking them as lovers. When they are married, if they commit fornication they should receive half the punishment of free women. This is for those of you who are afraid of committing fornication. But being patient is better for you. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

يُر۪يدُ اللّٰهُ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَكُمْ وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ سُنَنَ الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَيَتُوبَ عَلَيْكُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ حَك۪يمٌ

Yureedu Allahu liyubayyina lakumwayahdiyakum sunana allatheena min qablikum wayatoobaAAalaykum wallahu AAaleemun hakeem

Allah desires to make things clear to you and to guide you to the correct practices of those before you and to turn towards you. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

وَاللّٰهُ يُر۪يدُ اَنْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَيُر۪يدُ الَّذ۪ينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الشَّهَوَاتِ اَنْ تَم۪يلُوا مَيْلاً عَظ۪يماً

Wallahu yureedu an yatoobaAAalaykum wayureedu allatheena yattabiAAoona ashshahawatian tameeloo maylan AAatheem

Allah desires to turn towards you, but those who pursue their lower appetites desire to make you deviate completely.

يُر۪يدُ اللّٰهُ اَنْ يُخَفِّفَ عَنْكُمْۚ وَخُلِقَ الْاِنْسَانُ ضَع۪يفاً

Yureedu Allahu an yukhaffifa AAankumwakhuliqa al-insanu daAAeefa

Allah desires to make things lighter for you. Man was created weak.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا لَا تَأْكُلُٓوا اَمْوَالَكُمْ بَيْنَكُمْ بِالْبَاطِلِ اِلَّٓا اَنْ تَكُونَ تِجَارَةً عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْكُمْ وَلَا تَقْتُلُٓوا اَنْفُسَكُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَح۪يماً

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola ta/kuloo amwalakum baynakum bilbatiliilla an takoona tijaratan AAan taradinminkum wala taqtuloo anfusakum inna Allaha kanabikum raheema

You who have iman! do not consume one another’s property by false means, but only by means of mutually agreed trade. And do not kill yourselves. Allah is Most Merciful to you.

وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذٰلِكَ عُدْوَاناً وَظُلْماً فَسَوْفَ نُصْل۪يهِ نَاراًۜ وَكَانَ ذٰلِكَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ يَس۪يراً

Waman yafAAal thalika AAudwananwathulman fasawfa nusleehi naran wakanathalika AAala Allahi yaseera

As for anyone who does that out of enmity and wrongdoing, We will roast him in a Fire. That is an easy matter for Allah.

اِنْ تَجْتَنِبُوا كَـبَٓائِرَ مَا تُنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ نُكَفِّرْ عَنْكُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْ وَنُدْخِلْكُمْ مُدْخَلاً كَر۪يماً

In tajtaniboo kaba-ira matunhawna AAanhu nukaffir AAankum sayyi-atikum wanudkhilkummudkhalan kareema

If you avoid the serious wrong actions you have been forbidden, We will erase your bad actions from you and admit you by a Gate of Honour.

وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا مَا فَضَّلَ اللّٰهُ بِه۪ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍۜ لِلرِّجَالِ نَص۪يبٌ مِمَّا اكْتَسَبُوا وَلِلنِّسَٓاءِ نَص۪يبٌ مِمَّا اكْتَسَبْنَۜ وَسْـَٔلُوا اللّٰهَ مِنْ فَضْلِه۪ۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يماً

Wala tatamannaw ma faddalaAllahu bihi baAAdakum AAala baAAdinlirrijali naseebun mimma iktasaboowalinnisa-i naseebun mimma iktasabnawas-aloo Allaha min fadlihi inna Allahakana bikulli shay-in AAaleema

Do not covet what Allah has given to some of you in preference to others – men have a portion of what they acquire and women have a portion of what they acquire; but ask Allah for His bounty. Allah has knowledge of all things.

وَلِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مَوَالِيَ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْاَقْرَبُونَۜ وَالَّذ۪ينَ عَقَدَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْ فَاٰتُوهُمْ نَص۪يبَهُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَه۪يداً۟

Walikullin jaAAalna mawaliyamimma taraka alwalidani wal-aqraboonawallatheena AAaqadat aymanukum faatoohumnaseebahum inna Allaha kana AAalakulli shay-in shaheeda

We have appointed heirs for everything that parents and relatives leave. If you have a bond with people, give them their share. Allah is a witness of all things.

اَلرِّجَالُ قَوَّامُونَ عَلَى النِّسَٓاءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ اللّٰهُ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ وَبِمَٓا اَنْفَقُوا مِنْ اَمْوَالِهِمْۜ فَالصَّالِحَاتُ قَانِتَاتٌ حَافِظَاتٌ لِلْغَيْبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ اللّٰهُۜ وَالّٰت۪ي تَخَافُونَ نُشُوزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوهُنَّ وَاهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ وَاضْرِبُوهُنَّۚ فَاِنْ اَطَعْنَكُمْ فَلَا تَبْغُوا عَلَيْهِنَّ سَب۪يلاًۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلِياًّ كَب۪يراً

Arrijalu qawwamoonaAAala annisa-i bima faddalaAllahu baAAdahum AAala baAAdin wabimaanfaqoo min amwalihim fassalihatu qanitatunhafithatun lilghaybi bima hafithaAllahu wallatee takhafoonanushoozahunna faAAithoohunna wahjuroohunnafee almadajiAAi wadriboohunna fa-in ataAAnakumfala tabghoo AAalayhinna sabeelan inna Allaha kanaAAaliyyan kabeera

Men have charge of women because Allah has preferred the one above the other and because they spend their wealth on them. Right-acting women are obedient, safeguarding their husbands’ interests in their absence as Allah has guarded them. If there are women whose disobedience you fear, you may admonish them, refuse to sleep with them, and then beat them. But if they obey you, do not look for a way to punish them. Allah is All-High, Most Great.

وَاِنْ خِفْتُمْ شِقَاقَ بَيْنِهِمَا فَابْعَثُوا حَكَماً مِنْ اَهْلِه۪ وَحَكَماً مِنْ اَهْلِهَاۚ اِنْ يُر۪يدَٓا اِصْلَاحاً يُوَفِّقِ اللّٰهُ بَيْنَهُمَاۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَل۪يماً خَب۪يراً

Wa-in khiftum shiqaqa baynihimafabAAathoo hakaman min ahlihi wahakaman minahliha in yureeda islahan yuwaffiqiAllahu baynahuma inna Allaha kanaAAaleeman khabeera

If you fear a breach between a couple, send an arbiter from his people and an arbiter from her people. If the couple desire to put things right, Allah will bring about a reconciliation between them. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.

وَاعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِه۪ شَيْـٔاً وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ اِحْسَاناً وَبِذِي الْقُرْبٰى وَالْيَتَامٰى وَالْمَسَاك۪ينِ وَالْجَارِ ذِي الْقُرْبٰى وَالْجَارِ الْجُنُبِ وَالصَّاحِبِ بِالْجَنْبِ وَابْنِ السَّب۪يلِۙ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَنْ كَانَ مُخْتَالاً فَخُوراًۙ

WaAAbudoo Allaha walatushrikoo bihi shay-an wabilwalidayni ihsananwabithee alqurba walyatama walmasakeeniwaljari thee alqurba waljarialjunubi wassahibi biljanbi wabniassabeeli wama malakat aymanukum inna Allahala yuhibbu man kana mukhtalan fakhoora

Worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him. Be good to your parents and relatives and to orphans and the very poor, and to neighbours who are related to you and neighbours who are not related to you, and to companions and travellers and your slaves. Allah does not love anyone vain or boastful.

اَلَّذ۪ينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ وَيَكْتُمُونَ مَٓا اٰتٰيهُمُ اللّٰهُ مِنْ فَضْلِه۪ۜ وَاَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِر۪ينَ عَذَاباً مُه۪يناًۚ

Allatheena yabkhaloona waya/muroona annasabilbukhli wayaktumoona ma atahumuAllahu min fadlihi waaAAtadna lilkafireenaAAathaban muheena

As for those who are tight-fisted and direct others to be tight-fisted, and hide the bounty Allah has given them, We have prepared a humiliating punishment for those who are kafir,

وَالَّذ۪ينَ يُنْفِقُونَ اَمْوَالَهُمْ رِئَٓاءَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّٰهِ وَلَا بِالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۜ وَمَنْ يَكُنِ الشَّيْطَانُ لَهُ قَر۪يناً فَسَٓاءَ قَر۪يناً

Wallatheena yunfiqoona amwalahumri-aa annasi wala yu/minoona billahiwala bilyawmi al-akhiri waman yakuni ashshaytanulahu qareenan fasaa qareena

and also for those who spend their wealth to show off to people, not having iman in Allah and the Last Day. Anyone who has made Shaytan his comrade, what an evil comrade he is!

وَمَاذَا عَلَيْهِمْ لَوْ اٰمَنُوا بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ وَاَنْفَقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَهُمُ اللّٰهُۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ بِهِمْ عَل۪يماً

Wamatha AAalayhim law amanoobillahi walyawmi al-akhiriwaanfaqoo mimma razaqahumu Allahu wakana Allahubihim AAaleema

What harm would it have done them to have had iman in Allah and the Last Day and to have given of what Allah has provided for them? Allah knows everything about them.

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍۚ وَاِنْ تَكُ حَسَنَةً يُضَاعِفْهَا وَيُؤْتِ مِنْ لَدُنْهُ اَجْراً عَظ۪يماً

Inna Allaha la yathlimumithqala tharratin wa-in taku hasanatan yudaAAifhawayu/ti min ladunhu ajran AAatheema

Allah does not wrong anyone by so much as the smallest speck. And if there is a good deed Allah will multiply it and pay out an immense reward direct from Him.

فَكَيْفَ اِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ اُمَّةٍ بِشَه۪يدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلٰى هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ شَه۪يداًۜ

Fakayfa itha ji/na min kulliommatin bishaheedin waji/na bika AAala haola-ishaheeda

How will it be when We bring a witness from every nation and bring you as a witness against them?

يَوْمَئِذٍ يَوَدُّ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا وَعَصَوُا الرَّسُولَ لَوْ تُسَوّٰى بِهِمُ الْاَرْضُۜ وَلَا يَكْتُمُونَ اللّٰهَ حَد۪يثاً۟

Yawma-ithin yawaddu allatheenakafaroo waAAasawoo arrasoola law tusawwabihimu al-ardu wala yaktumoona Allaha hadeetha

On that day those who were kafir and disobeyed the Messenger will wish that they were one with the level earth. They will not be able to hide a single circumstance from Allah.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا لَا تَقْرَبُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاَنْتُمْ سُكَارٰى حَتّٰى تَعْلَمُوا مَا تَقُولُونَ وَلَا جُنُباً اِلَّا عَابِر۪ي سَب۪يلٍ حَتّٰى تَغْتَسِلُواۜ وَاِنْ كُنْتُمْ مَرْضٰٓى اَوْ عَلٰى سَفَرٍ اَوْ جَٓاءَ اَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ مِنَ الْغَٓائِطِ اَوْ لٰمَسْتُمُ النِّسَٓاءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا مَٓاءً فَتَيَمَّمُوا صَع۪يداً طَيِّباً فَامْسَحُوا بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَاَيْد۪يكُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَفُواًّ غَفُوراً

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola taqraboo assalata waantum sukarahatta taAAlamoo ma taqooloona walajunuban illa AAabiree sabeelin hattataghtasiloo wa-in kuntum marda aw AAala safarin awjaa ahadun minkum mina algha-iti aw lamastumuannisaa falam tajidoo maan fatayammamoo saAAeedantayyiban famsahoo biwujoohikum waaydeekuminna Allaha kana AAafuwwan ghafoora

You who have iman! do not approach the prayer when you are drunk, so that you will know what you are saying, nor in a state of major impurity – unless you are travelling – until you have washed yourselves completely. If you are ill or on a journey, or any of you have come from the lavatory or touched women, and you cannot find any water, then do tayammum with pure earth, wiping your faces and your hands. Allah is Ever-Pardoning, Ever-Forgiving.

اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا نَص۪يباً مِنَ الْكِتَابِ يَشْتَرُونَ الضَّلَالَةَ وَيُر۪يدُونَ اَنْ تَضِلُّوا السَّب۪يلَۜ

Alam tara ila allatheena ootoonaseeban mina alkitabi yashtaroona addalalatawayureedoona an tadilloo assabeel

Do you not see those who were given a portion of the Book trading in misguidance and wanting you to be misguided from the way?

وَاللّٰهُ اَعْلَمُ بِاَعْدَٓائِكُمْۜ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ وَلِياًّۗ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ نَص۪يراً

Wallahu aAAlamu bi-aAAda-ikumwakafa billahi waliyyan wakafa billahinaseera

Allah knows best who your enemies are. Allah suffices as a Protector; Allah suffices as a Helper.

مِنَ الَّذ۪ينَ هَادُوا يُحَرِّفُونَ الْكَلِمَ عَنْ مَوَاضِعِه۪ وَيَقُولُونَ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَاسْمَعْ غَيْرَ مُسْمَعٍ وَرَاعِنَا لَياًّ بِاَلْسِنَتِهِمْ وَطَعْناً فِي الدّ۪ينِۜ وَلَوْ اَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَاَطَعْنَا وَاسْمَعْ وَانْظُرْنَا لَكَانَ خَيْراً لَهُمْ وَاَقْوَمَۙ وَلٰكِنْ لَعَنَهُمُ اللّٰهُ بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ اِلَّا قَل۪يلاً

Mina allatheena hadoo yuharrifoonaalkalima AAan mawadiAAihi wayaqooloona samiAAnawaAAasayna wasmaAA ghayra musmaAAin waraAAinalayyan bi-alsinatihim wataAAnan fee addeeni walawannahum qaloo samiAAna waataAAna wasmaAAwanthurna lakana khayranlahum waaqwama walakin laAAanahumu Allahubikufrihim fala yu/minoona illa qaleela

Some of the Jews distort the true meaning of words, saying,‘We hear and disobey,’ and ‘Listen without listening,’ and ‘Ra’ina!’ twisting them with their tongues, disparaging the deen. If they had said, ‘We hear and we obey,’ and ‘Listen,’ and, ‘Undhurna!’ that would have been better for them and more upright. But Allah has cursed them for their kufr. Very few of them have iman.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْكِتَابَ اٰمِنُوا بِمَا نَزَّلْنَا مُصَدِّقاً لِمَا مَعَكُمْ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ نَطْمِسَ وُجُوهاً فَنَرُدَّهَا عَلٰٓى اَدْبَارِهَٓا اَوْ نَلْعَنَهُمْ كَمَا لَعَنَّٓا اَصْحَابَ السَّبْتِۜ وَكَانَ اَمْرُ اللّٰهِ مَفْعُولاً

Ya ayyuha allatheenaootoo alkitaba aminoo bima nazzalnamusaddiqan lima maAAakum min qabli an natmisawujoohan fanaruddaha AAala adbarihaaw nalAAanahum kama laAAanna as-habaassabti wakana amru Allahi mafAAoola

You who have been given the Book! have iman in what We have sent down confirming what is with you, before We obliterate faces, turning them inside out, or We curse you as We cursed the Companions of the Sabbath. Allah’s command is always carried out.

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ اَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِه۪ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذٰلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَٓاءُۚ وَمَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللّٰهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرٰٓى اِثْماً عَظ۪يماً

Inna Allaha la yaghfiru anyushraka bihi wayaghfiru ma doona thalika limanyashao waman yushrik billahi faqadi iftaraithman AAatheema

Allah does not forgive anything being associated with Him but He forgives whoever He wills for anything other than that. Anyone who associates something with Allah has committed a terrible crime.

اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذ۪ينَ يُزَكُّونَ اَنْفُسَهُمْۜ بَلِ اللّٰهُ يُزَكّ۪ي مَنْ يَشَٓاءُ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَت۪يلاً

Alam tara ila allatheenayuzakkoona anfusahum bali Allahu yuzakkee man yashaowala yuthlamoona fateela

Do you not see those who claim to be purified? No, Allah purifies whoever He wills. They will not be wronged by so much as the smallest speck.

اُنْظُرْ كَيْفَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ الْكَذِبَۜ وَكَفٰى بِه۪ٓ اِثْماً مُب۪يناً۟

Onthur kayfa yaftaroona AAalaAllahi alkathiba wakafa bihi ithman mubeena

Look how they invent lies against Allah. That suffices as an outright felony.

اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا نَص۪يباً مِنَ الْكِتَابِ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْجِبْتِ وَالطَّاغُوتِ وَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ اَهْدٰى مِنَ الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا سَب۪يلاً

Alam tara ila allatheena ootoonaseeban mina alkitabi yu/minoona biljibtiwattaghooti wayaqooloona lillatheenakafaroo haola-i ahda mina allatheena amanoosabeela

Do you not see those who were given a portion of the Book having iman in idols and false gods and saying to those who are kafir, ‘These people are better guided on their path than the muminun’?

اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ الَّذ۪ينَ لَعَنَهُمُ اللّٰهُۜ وَمَنْ يَلْعَنِ اللّٰهُ فَلَنْ تَجِدَ لَهُ نَص۪يراًۜ

Ola-ika allatheena laAAanahumuAllahu waman yalAAani Allahu falan tajida lahu naseera

Those are the ones Allah has cursed. And if someone is cursed by Allah you will not find any one to help him.

اَمْ لَهُمْ نَص۪يبٌ مِنَ الْمُلْكِ فَاِذاً لَا يُؤْتُونَ النَّاسَ نَق۪يراًۙ

Am lahum naseebun mina almulki fa-ithanla yu/toona annasa naqeera

Or do they indeed really own a portion of Allah’s kingdom? In that case they do not give so much as a scrap to other people!

اَمْ يَحْسُدُونَ النَّاسَ عَلٰى مَٓا اٰتٰيهُمُ اللّٰهُ مِنْ فَضْلِه۪ۚ فَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَٓا اٰلَ اِبْرٰه۪يمَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَاٰتَيْنَاهُمْ مُلْكاً عَظ۪يماً

Am yahsudoona annasaAAala ma atahumu Allahu min fadlihifaqad atayna ala ibraheema alkitabawalhikmata waataynahum mulkan AAatheema

Or do they in fact envy other people for the bounty Allah has granted them? We gave the family of Ibrahim the Book and Wisdom, and We gave them an immense kingdom.

فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ اٰمَنَ بِه۪ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ صَدَّ عَنْهُۜ وَكَفٰى بِجَهَنَّمَ سَع۪يراً

Faminhum man amana bihi waminhum man saddaAAanhu wakafa bijahannama saAAeera

Some of them have iman in him, and some bar access to him. Hell will suffice as a Searing Blaze!

اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا بِاٰيَاتِنَا سَوْفَ نُصْل۪يهِمْ نَاراًۜ كُلَّمَا نَضِجَتْ جُلُودُهُمْ بَدَّلْنَاهُمْ جُلُوداً غَيْرَهَا لِيَذُوقُوا الْعَذَابَۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَز۪يزاً حَك۪يماً

Inna allatheena kafaroo bi-ayatinasawfa nusleehim naran kullama nadijatjulooduhum baddalnahum juloodan ghayraha liyathooqooalAAathaba inna Allaha kana AAazeezan hakeema

As for those who reject Our Signs, We will roast them in a Fire. Every time their skins are burned off, We will replace them with new skins so that they can taste the punishment. Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.

وَالَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْر۪ي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهَارُ خَالِد۪ينَ ف۪يهَٓا اَبَداًۜ لَهُمْ ف۪يهَٓا اَزْوَاجٌ مُطَهَّرَةٌۘ وَنُدْخِلُهُمْ ظِلاًّ ظَل۪يلاً

Wallatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati sanudkhiluhum jannatintajree min tahtiha al-anharu khalideenafeeha abadan lahum feeha azwajun mutahharatunwanudkhiluhum thillan thaleela

But as for those who have iman and do right actions, We will admit them into Gardens with rivers flowing under them, remaining in them timelessly, for ever and ever. In them they will have spouses of perfect purity and We will admit them into cool, refreshing shade.

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ اَنْ تُؤَدُّوا الْاَمَانَاتِ اِلٰٓى اَهْلِهَاۙ وَاِذَا حَكَمْتُمْ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ اَنْ تَحْكُمُوا بِالْعَدْلِۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ نِعِمَّا يَعِظُـكُمْ بِه۪ۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ سَم۪يعاً بَص۪يراً

Inna Allaha ya/murukum an tu-addooal-amanati ila ahliha wa-itha hakamtumbayna annasi an tahkumoo bilAAadliinna Allaha niAAimma yaAAithukum bihiinna Allaha kana sameeAAan baseera

Allah commands you to return to their owners the things you hold on trust and, when you judge between people, to judge with justice. How excellent is what Allah exhorts you to do! Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓوا اَط۪يعُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَط۪يعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَاُو۬لِي الْاَمْرِ مِنْكُمْۚ فَاِنْ تَنَازَعْتُمْ ف۪ي شَيْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَالرَّسُولِ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۜ ذٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَاَحْسَنُ تَأْو۪يلاً۟

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooateeAAoo Allaha waateeAAoo arrasoolawaolee al-amri minkum fa-in tanazaAAtum fee shay-infaruddoohu ila Allahi warrasooli in kuntumtu/minoona billahi walyawmi al-akhirithalika khayrun waahsanu ta/weela

You who have iman! obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in command among you. If you have a dispute about something, refer it back to Allah and the Messenger, if you have iman in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best thing to do and gives the best result.

اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذ۪ينَ يَزْعُمُونَ اَنَّهُمْ اٰمَنُوا بِمَٓا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ وَمَٓا اُنْزِلَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ يُر۪يدُونَ اَنْ يَتَحَاكَمُٓوا اِلَى الطَّاغُوتِ وَقَدْ اُمِرُٓوا اَنْ يَكْفُرُوا بِه۪ۜ وَيُر۪يدُ الشَّيْطَانُ اَنْ يُضِلَّهُمْ ضَلَالاً بَع۪يداً

Alam tara ila allatheenayazAAumoona annahum amanoo bima onzila ilayka wamaonzila min qablika yureedoona an yatahakamoo ila attaghootiwaqad omiroo an yakfuroo bihi wayureedu ashshaytanuan yudillahum dalalan baAAeeda

Do you not see those who claim that they have iman in what has been sent down to you and what was sent down before you, still desiring to turn to a satanic source for judgement in spite of being ordered to reject it? Shaytan wants to misguide them far away.

وَاِذَا ق۪يلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا اِلٰى مَٓا اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ وَاِلَى الرَّسُولِ رَاَيْتَ الْمُنَافِق۪ينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَنْكَ صُدُوداًۚ

Wa-itha qeela lahum taAAalawila ma anzala Allahu wa-ila arrasooliraayta almunafiqeena yasuddoona AAanka sudooda

When they are told, ‘Come to what Allah has sent down and to the Messenger,’ you see the hypocrites turning away from you completely.

فَكَيْفَ اِذَٓا اَصَابَتْهُمْ مُص۪يبَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ اَيْد۪يهِمْ ثُمَّ جَٓاؤُ۫كَ يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللّٰهِ اِنْ اَرَدْنَٓا اِلَّٓا اِحْسَاناً وَتَوْف۪يقاً

Fakayfa itha asabat-hum museebatunbima qaddamat aydeehim thumma jaooka yahlifoonabillahi in aradna illa ihsananwatawfeeqa

How will it be when a disaster strikes them because of what they have done, and then they come to you swearing by Allah: ‘We desired nothing but good and reconciliation’?

اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ الَّذ۪ينَ يَعْلَمُ اللّٰهُ مَا ف۪ي قُلُوبِهِمْ فَاَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَعِظْهُمْ وَقُلْ لَهُمْ ف۪ٓي اَنْفُسِهِمْ قَوْلاً بَل۪يغاً

Ola-ika allatheena yaAAlamuAllahu ma fee quloobihim faaAArid AAanhumwaAAithhum waqul lahum fee anfusihim qawlan baleegha

Allah knows what is in such people’s hearts so turn away from them and warn them and speak to them with words that take effect.

وَمَٓا اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ رَسُولٍ اِلَّا لِيُطَاعَ بِاِذْنِ اللّٰهِۜ وَلَوْ اَنَّهُمْ اِذْ ظَلَمُٓوا اَنْفُسَهُمْ جَٓاؤُ۫كَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا اللّٰهَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُوا اللّٰهَ تَـوَّاباً رَح۪يماً

Wama arsalna min rasoolin illaliyutaAAa bi-ithni Allahi walaw annahum iththalamoo anfusahum jaooka fastaghfarooAllaha wastaghfara lahumu arrasoolulawajadoo Allaha tawwaban raheema

We sent no Messenger except to be obeyed by Allah’s permission. If only when they wronged themselves they had come to you and asked Allah’s forgiveness and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them they would have found Allah Ever-Returning, Most Merciful.

فَلَا وَرَبِّكَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ حَتّٰى يُحَكِّمُوكَ ف۪يمَا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْۙ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُوا ف۪ٓي اَنْفُسِهِمْ حَرَجاً مِمَّا قَضَيْتَ وَيُسَلِّمُوا تَسْل۪يماً

Fala warabbika la yu/minoona hattayuhakkimooka feema shajara baynahum thumma layajidoo fee anfusihim harajan mimma qadaytawayusallimoo tasleema

No, by your Lord, they are not muminun until they make you their judge in the disputes that break out between them, and then find no resistance within themselves to what you decide and submit themselves completely.

وَلَوْ اَنَّا كَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ اَنِ اقْتُلُٓوا اَنْفُسَكُمْ اَوِ اخْرُجُوا مِنْ دِيَارِكُمْ مَا فَعَلُوهُ اِلَّا قَل۪يلٌ مِنْهُمْۜ وَلَوْ اَنَّهُمْ فَعَلُوا مَا يُوعَظُونَ بِه۪ لَكَانَ خَيْراً لَهُمْ وَاَشَدَّ تَثْب۪يتاًۙ

Walaw anna katabna AAalayhimani oqtuloo anfusakum awi okhrujoo min diyarikum mafaAAaloohu illa qaleelun minhum walaw annahum faAAaloo mayooAAathoona bihi lakana khayran lahumwaashadda tathbeeta

If We had directed them to kill themselves or leave their homes, they would not have done so, except for a very few. But if they had done what they were urged to do, it would have been better for them and far more strengthening.

وَاِذاً لَاٰتَيْنَاهُمْ مِنْ لَدُنَّٓا اَجْراً عَظ۪يـماًۙ

Wa-ithan laataynahummin ladunna ajran AAatheema

In that case We would have given them an immense reward from Us

وَلَهَدَيْنَاهُمْ صِرَاطاً مُسْتَق۪يماً

Walahadaynahum siratanmustaqeema

and We would have guided them on a straight path.

وَمَنْ يُطِـعِ اللّٰهَ وَالرَّسُولَ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ مَعَ الَّذ۪ينَ اَنْعَمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ النَّبِيّ۪نَ وَالصِّدّ۪يق۪ينَ وَالشُّهَدَٓاءِ وَالصَّالِح۪ينَۚ وَحَسُنَ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ رَف۪يقاًۜ

Waman yutiAAi Allaha warrasoolafaola-ika maAAa allatheena anAAama AllahuAAalayhim mina annabiyyeena wassiddeeqeenawashshuhada-i wassaliheenawahasuna ola-ika rafeeqa

Whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger will be with those whom Allah has blessed: the Prophets and the true, the martyrs and the righteous. What excellent company such people are!

ذٰلِكَ الْفَضْلُ مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ عَل۪يماً۟

Thalika alfadlu mina Allahiwakafa billahi AAaleema

That is favour from Allah. Allah suffices as a Knower.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا خُذُوا حِذْرَكُمْ فَانْفِرُوا ثُبَاتٍ اَوِ انْفِرُوا جَم۪يعاً

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanookhuthoo hithrakum fanfiroo thubatinawi infiroo jameeAAa

You who have iman! take all necessary precautions, then go out to fight in separate groups or go out as one body.

وَاِنَّ مِنْكُمْ لَمَنْ لَيُبَطِّئَنَّۚ فَاِنْ اَصَابَتْكُمْ مُص۪يبَةٌ قَالَ قَدْ اَنْعَمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيَّ اِذْ لَمْ اَكُنْ مَعَهُمْ شَه۪يداً

Wa-inna minkum laman layubatti-annafa-in asabatkum museebatun qala qad anAAamaAllahu AAalayya ith lam akun maAAahum shaheeda

Among you there are people who hang back and if you encounter a setback then they say, ‘Allah has blessed me in that I was not there with them. ’

وَلَئِنْ اَصَابَكُمْ فَضْلٌ مِنَ اللّٰهِ لَيَقُولَنَّ كَاَنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُ مَوَدَّةٌ يَا لَيْتَن۪ي كُنْتُ مَعَهُمْ فَاَفُوزَ فَوْزاً عَظ۪يماً

Wala-in asabakum fadlun minaAllahi layaqoolanna kaan lam takun baynakum wabaynahumawaddatun ya laytanee kuntu maAAahum faafooza fawzan AAatheema

But if you meet with favour from Allah they say – as if there were no friendship between you and them – ‘Oh! If only I had been with them so that I too might have won a great victory. ’

فَلْيُقَاتِلْ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ الَّذ۪ينَ يَشْرُونَ الْحَيٰوةَ الدُّنْيَا بِالْاٰخِرَةِۜ وَمَنْ يُقَاتِلْ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ فَيُقْتَلْ اَوْ يَغْلِبْ فَسَوْفَ نُؤْت۪يهِ اَجْراً عَظ۪يماً

Falyuqatil fee sabeeli Allahiallatheena yashroona alhayata addunyabil-akhirati waman yuqatil fee sabeeli Allahifayuqtal aw yaghlib fasawfa nu/teehi ajran AAatheema

So let those who sell the life of this world for the Next World fight in the Way of Allah. If someone fights in the Way of Allah, whether he is killed or is victorious, We will pay him an immense reward.

وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُقَاتِلُونَ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَف۪ينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَٓاءِ وَالْوِلْدَانِ الَّذ۪ينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَٓا اَخْرِجْنَا مِنْ هٰذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ الظَّالِمِ اَهْلُهَاۚ وَاجْعَلْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ وَلِياًّۚ وَاجْعَلْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ نَص۪يراًۜ

Wama lakum la tuqatiloonafee sabeeli Allahi walmustadAAafeena mina arrijaliwannisa-i walwildani allatheenayaqooloona rabbana akhrijna min hathihialqaryati aththalimi ahluhawajAAal lana min ladunka waliyyan wajAAallana min ladunka naseera

What reason could you have for not fighting in the Way of Allah – for those men, women and children who are oppressed and say, ‘Our Lord, take us out of this city whose inhabitants are wrongdoers! Give us a protector from You! Give us a helper from You!’?

اَلَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا يُقَاتِلُونَ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِۚ وَالَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا يُقَاتِلُونَ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ الطَّاغُوتِ فَقَاتِلُٓوا اَوْلِيَٓاءَ الشَّيْطَانِۚ اِنَّ كَيْدَ الشَّيْطَانِ كَانَ ضَع۪يفاً۟

Allatheena amanoo yuqatiloonafee sabeeli Allahi wallatheena kafaroo yuqatiloonafee sabeeli attaghooti faqatiloo awliyaaashshaytani inna kayda ashshaytanikana daAAeefa

Those who have iman fight in the Way of Allah. Those who are kafir fight in the way of false gods. So fight the friends of Shaytan! Shaytan’s scheming is always feeble.

اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذ۪ينَ ق۪يلَ لَهُمْ كُفُّٓوا اَيْدِيَكُمْ وَاَق۪يمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتُوا الزَّكٰوةَۚ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقِتَالُ اِذَا فَر۪يقٌ مِنْهُمْ يَخْشَوْنَ النَّاسَ كَخَشْيَةِ اللّٰهِ اَوْ اَشَدَّ خَشْيَةًۚ وَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا لِمَ كَتَبْتَ عَلَيْنَا الْقِتَالَۚ لَوْلَٓا اَخَّرْتَنَٓا اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ قَر۪يبٍۜ قُلْ مَتَاعُ الدُّنْيَا قَل۪يلٌۚ وَالْاٰخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِمَنِ اتَّقٰى وَلَا تُظْلَمُونَ فَت۪يلاً

Alam tara ila allatheena qeelalahum kuffoo aydiyakum waaqeemoo assalatawaatoo azzakata falamma kutibaAAalayhimu alqitalu itha fareequn minhum yakhshawnaannasa kakhashyati Allahi aw ashaddakhashyatan waqaloo rabbana lima katabta AAalaynaalqitala lawla akhkhartana ila ajalinqareebin qul mataAAu addunya qaleelun wal-akhiratukhayrun limani ittaqa wala tuthlamoonafateela

Do you not see those who were told: ‘Hold back from fighting but establish salat and pay zakat’? Then when fighting is prescribed for them, a group of them fear people as Allah should be feared, or even more than that. They say, ‘Our Lord, why have you prescribed fighting for us? If only You would give us just a little more time!’ Say, ‘The enjoyment of this world is very brief. The Next World is better for those who have taqwa. You will not be wronged by so much as the smallest speck.’

اَيْنَ مَا تَكُونُوا يُدْرِكْكُمُ الْمَوْتُ وَلَوْ كُنْتُمْ ف۪ي بُرُوجٍ مُشَيَّدَةٍۜ وَاِنْ تُصِبْهُمْ حَسَنَةٌ يَقُولُوا هٰذِه۪ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللّٰهِۚ وَاِنْ تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ يَقُولُوا هٰذِه۪ مِنْ عِنْدِكَۜ قُلْ كُلٌّ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللّٰهِۜ فَمَالِ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ الْقَوْمِ لَا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ حَد۪يثاً

Aynama takoonoo yudrikkumu almawtuwalaw kuntum fee buroojin mushayyadatin wa-in tusibhum hasanatunyaqooloo hathihi min AAindi Allahi wa-in tusibhumsayyi-atun yaqooloo hathihi min AAindika qul kullun minAAindi Allahi famali haola-i alqawmila yakadoona yafqahoona hadeetha

Wherever you are, death will catch up with you, even if you are in impregnable fortresses. If a good thing happens to them, they say, ‘This has come from Allah.’ But if a bad thing happens to them, they say, ‘This has come from you.’ Say, ‘Everything comes from Allah.’ What is the matter with these people that they scarcely understand a single word?

مَٓا اَصَابَكَ مِنْ حَسَنَةٍ فَمِنَ اللّٰهِۘ وَمَٓا اَصَابَكَ مِنْ سَيِّئَةٍ فَمِنْ نَفْسِكَۜ وَاَرْسَلْنَاكَ لِلنَّاسِ رَسُولاًۜ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ شَه۪يداً

Ma asabaka min hasanatinfamina Allahi wama asabaka min sayyi-atinfamin nafsika waarsalnaka linnasi rasoolanwakafa billahi shaheedan

Any good thing that happens to you comes from Allah. Any bad thing that happens to you comes from yourself. We have sent you to mankind as a Messenger. Allah suffices as a Witness.

مَنْ يُطِـعِ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ اَطَاعَ اللّٰهَۚ وَمَنْ تَوَلّٰى فَمَٓا اَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَف۪يظاًۜ

Man yutiAAi arrasoola faqad ataAAaAllaha waman tawalla fama arsalnakaAAalayhim hafeetha

Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah. If anyone turns away, We did not send you to them as their keeper.

وَيَقُولُونَ طَاعَةٌۘ فَاِذَا بَرَزُوا مِنْ عِنْدِكَ بَيَّتَ طَٓائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ غَيْرَ الَّذ۪ي تَقُولُۜ وَاللّٰهُ يَكْتُبُ مَا يُبَيِّتُونَۚ فَاَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللّٰهِۜ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ وَك۪يلاً

Wayaqooloona taAAatun fa-ithabarazoo min AAindika bayyata ta-ifatun minhum ghayra allatheetaqoolu wallahu yaktubu ma yubayyitoonafaaAArid AAanhum watawakkal AAala Allahiwakafa billahi wakeela

They have the word, ‘Obedience!’ on their tongues but when they leave your presence, a group of them spend the night plotting to do other than what you say. Allah is recording their nocturnal plotting. So let them be and put your trust in Allah. Allah suffices as a Guardian.

اَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْاٰنَۜ وَلَوْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ غَيْرِ اللّٰهِ لَوَجَدُوا ف۪يهِ اخْتِلَافاً كَث۪يراً

Afala yatadabbaroona alqur-anawalaw kana min AAindi ghayri Allahi lawajadoo feehiikhtilafan katheera

Will they not ponder the Qur’an? If it had been from other than Allah, they would have found many inconsistencies in it.

وَاِذَا جَٓاءَهُمْ اَمْرٌ مِنَ الْاَمْنِ اَوِ الْخَوْفِ اَذَاعُوا بِه۪ۜ وَلَوْ رَدُّوهُ اِلَى الرَّسُولِ وَاِلٰٓى اُو۬لِي الْاَمْرِ مِنْهُمْ لَعَلِمَهُ الَّذ۪ينَ يَسْتَنْبِطُونَهُ مِنْهُمْۜ وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ لَاتَّبَعْتُمُ الشَّيْطَانَ اِلَّا قَل۪يلاً

Wa-itha jaahum amrun minaal-amni awi alkhawfi athaAAoo bihi walaw raddoohu ilaarrasooli wa-ila olee al-amri minhum laAAalimahuallatheena yastanbitoonahu minhum walawla fadluAllahi AAalaykum warahmatuhu lattabaAAtumuashshaytana illa qaleela

When news of any matter reaches them they spread it about, whether it is of a reassuring or disquieting nature. If they had only referred it to the Messenger and those in command among them, those among them able to discern the truth about it would have had proper knowledge of it. If it were not for Allah’s favour to you and His mercy, all but a very few of you would have followed Shaytan.

فَقَاتِلْ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِۚ لَا تُكَلَّفُ اِلَّا نَفْسَكَ وَحَرِّضِ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَۚ عَسَى اللّٰهُ اَنْ يَكُفَّ بَأْسَ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُواۜ وَاللّٰهُ اَشَدُّ بَأْساً وَاَشَدُّ تَنْك۪يلاً

Faqatil fee sabeeli Allahi latukallafu illa nafsaka waharridialmu/mineena AAasa Allahu an yakuffa ba/sa allatheenakafaroo wallahu ashaddu ba/san waashaddu tankeela

So fight in the way of Allah – you are only answerable for yourself – and spur on the muminun. It may well be that Allah will curb the force of the kuffar. Allah has greater force and greater power to punish.

مَنْ يَشْفَعْ شَفَاعَةً حَسَنَةً يَكُنْ لَهُ نَص۪يبٌ مِنْهَاۚ وَمَنْ يَشْفَعْ شَفَاعَةً سَيِّئَةً يَكُنْ لَهُ كِفْلٌ مِنْهَاۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُق۪يتاً

Man yashfaAA shafaAAatan hasanatanyakun lahu naseebun minha waman yashfaAA shafaAAatansayyi-atan yakun lahu kiflun minha wakana AllahuAAala kulli shay-in muqeeta

Those who join forces for good will receive a reward for it. Those who join forces for evil will be answerable for it. Allah gives all things what they deserve.

وَاِذَا حُيّ۪يتُمْ بِتَحِيَّةٍ فَحَيُّوا بِاَحْسَنَ مِنْهَٓا اَوْ رُدُّوهَاۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَس۪يباً

Wa-itha huyyeetum bitahiyyatinfahayyoo bi-ahsana minha aw ruddoohainna Allaha kana AAala kulli shay-in haseeba

When you are greeted with a greeting, return the greeting or improve on it. Allah takes account of everything.

اَللّٰهُ لَٓا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَۜ لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِ لَا رَيْبَ ف۪يهِۜ وَمَنْ اَصْدَقُ مِنَ اللّٰهِ حَد۪يثاً۟

Allahu la ilaha illahuwa layajmaAAannakum ila yawmi alqiyamati larayba feehi waman asdaqu mina Allahi hadeetha

Allah, there is no god but Him. He will gather you to the Day of Rising about which there is no doubt. And whose speech could be truer than Allah’s?

فَمَا لَكُمْ فِي الْمُنَافِق۪ينَ فِئَتَيْنِ وَاللّٰهُ اَرْكَسَهُمْ بِمَا كَسَبُواۜ اَتُر۪يدُونَ اَنْ تَهْدُوا مَنْ اَضَلَّ اللّٰهُۜ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلِ اللّٰهُ فَلَنْ تَجِدَ لَهُ سَب۪يلاً

Fama lakum fee almunafiqeenafi-atayni wallahu arkasahum bima kasabooatureedoona an tahdoo man adalla Allahu waman yudliliAllahu falan tajida lahu sabeela

How is it that you have become two parties regarding the hypocrites, when Allah has returned them to kufr for what they did? Do you desire to guide people Allah has misguided? When Allah misguides someone, you will find no way for him.

وَدُّوا لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَ كَمَا كَفَرُوا فَتَكُونُونَ سَوَٓاءً فَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا مِنْهُمْ اَوْلِيَٓاءَ حَتّٰى يُهَاجِرُوا ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِۜ فَاِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَخُذُوهُمْ وَاقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ وَجَدْتُمُوهُمْۖ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا مِنْهُمْ وَلِياًّ وَلَا نَص۪يراًۙ

Waddoo law takfuroona kama kafaroofatakoonoona sawaan fala tattakhithoo minhumawliyaa hatta yuhajiroo fee sabeeliAllahi fa-in tawallaw fakhuthoohum waqtuloohumhaythu wajadtumoohum wala tattakhithoominhum waliyyan wala naseera

They would like you to be kafir as they are kafir so that you will all be the same. Do not take any of them as friends until they have made hijra in the Way of Allah. But if they run away then seize them and kill them wherever you find them. Do not take any of them as either a friend or helper –

اِلَّا الَّذ۪ينَ يَصِلُونَ اِلٰى قَوْمٍ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ م۪يثَاقٌ اَوْ جَٓاؤُ۫كُمْ حَصِرَتْ صُدُورُهُمْ اَنْ يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ اَوْ يُقَاتِلُوا قَوْمَهُمْۜ وَلَوْ شَٓاءَ اللّٰهُ لَسَلَّطَهُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ فَلَقَاتَلُوكُمْۚ فَاِنِ اعْتَزَلُوكُمْ فَلَمْ يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ وَاَلْقَوْا اِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَمَۙ فَمَا جَعَلَ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سَب۪يلاً

Illa allatheena yasiloonaila qawmin baynakum wabaynahum meethaqun aw jaookumhasirat sudooruhum an yuqatilookum awyuqatiloo qawmahum walaw shaa Allahu lasallatahumAAalaykum falaqatalookum fa-ini iAAtazalookum falam yuqatilookumwaalqaw ilaykumu assalama fama jaAAala Allahulakum AAalayhim sabeela

except for those who seek shelter with people with whom you have a treaty, or who come to you greatly perturbed at the prospect of fighting either you or their own people. If Allah had willed, He could have given them the upper hand over you and then they would have fought you. If they keep away from you and do not fight you and submit to you, Allah has not given you any way against such people.

سَتَجِدُونَ اٰخَر۪ينَ يُر۪يدُونَ اَنْ يَأْمَنُوكُمْ وَيَأْمَنُوا قَوْمَهُمْۜ كُلَّمَا رُدُّٓوا اِلَى الْفِتْنَةِ اُرْكِسُوا ف۪يهَاۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ يَعْتَزِلُوكُمْ وَيُلْقُٓوا اِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَمَ وَيَكُفُّٓوا اَيْدِيَهُمْ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَاقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْۜ وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكُمْ جَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَاناً مُب۪يناً۟

Satajidoona akhareena yureedoona anya/manookum waya/manoo qawmahum kulla ma ruddoo ilaalfitnati orkisoo feeha fa-in lam yaAAtazilookum wayulqooilaykumu assalama wayakuffoo aydiyahum fakhuthoohumwaqtuloohum haythu thaqiftumoohum waola-ikumjaAAalna lakum AAalayhim sultanan mubeena

You will find others who desire to be safe from you and safe from their own people. Each time they are returned to fitna they are overwhelmed by it. If they do not keep away from you or submit to you or refrain from fighting, seize them and kill them wherever you find them. Over such people We have given you clear authority.

وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ اَنْ يَقْتُلَ مُؤْمِناً اِلَّا خَطَـٔاًۚ وَمَنْ قَتَلَ مُـؤْمِناً خَطَــٔاً فَـتَـحْر۪يرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍ وَدِيَةٌ مُسَلَّمَةٌ اِلٰٓى اَهْلِه۪ٓ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يَصَّدَّقُواۜ فَاِنْ كَانَ مِنْ قَوْمٍ عَدُوٍّ لَكُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَتَحْر۪يرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍۜ وَاِنْ كَانَ مِنْ قَوْمٍ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ م۪يثَاقٌ فَدِيَةٌ مُسَلَّمَةٌ اِلٰٓى اَهْلِه۪ وَتَحْر۪يرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍۚ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِۘ تَوْبَةً مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً

Wama kana limu/minin anyaqtula mu/minan illa khataan waman qatala mu/minankhataan fatahreeru raqabatin mu/minatin wadiyatunmusallamatun ila ahlihi illa an yassaddaqoofa-in kana min qawmin AAaduwwin lakum wahuwa mu/minun fatahreeruraqabatin mu/minatin wa-in kana min qawmin baynakumwabaynahum meethaqun fadiyatun musallamatun ilaahlihi watahreeru raqabatin mu/minatin faman lam yajid fasiyamushahrayni mutatabiAAayni tawbatan mina Allahi wakanaAllahu AAaleeman hakeema

A mumin should never kill another mumin unless it is by mistake. Anyone who kills a mumin by mistake should free a mumin slave and pay blood-money to his family unless they forgo it as a sadaqa. If he is from a people who are your enemies and is a mumin, you should free a mumin slave. If he is from a people you have a treaty with, blood money should be paid to his family and you should free a mumin slave. Anyone who cannot find the means should fast two consecutive months. This is a concession from Allah. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

وَمَنْ يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِناً مُتَعَمِّداً فَجَزَٓاؤُ۬هُ جَهَنَّمُ خَالِداً ف۪يهَا وَغَضِبَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَعَنَهُ وَاَعَدَّ لَهُ عَذَاباً عَظ۪يماً

Waman yaqtul mu/minan mutaAAammidan fajazaohujahannamu khalidan feeha waghadiba AllahuAAalayhi walaAAanahu waaAAadda lahu AAathaban AAatheema

As for anyone who kills a mumin deliberately, his repayment is Hell, remaining in it for ever. Allah is angry with him and has cursed him, and has prepared for him a terrible punishment.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓوا اِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ فَتَبَيَّنُوا وَلَا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ اَلْقٰٓى اِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِناًۚ تَبْتَغُونَ عَرَضَ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَاۘ فَعِنْدَ اللّٰهِ مَغَانِمُ كَث۪يرَةٌۜ كَذٰلِكَ كُنْتُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَمَنَّ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَتَبَيَّنُواۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَب۪يراً

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooitha darabtum fee sabeeli Allahifatabayyanoo wala taqooloo liman alqa ilaykumu assalamalasta mu/minan tabtaghoona AAarada alhayatiaddunya faAAinda Allahi maghanimukatheeratun kathalika kuntum min qablu famanna AllahuAAalaykum fatabayyanoo inna Allaha kana bimataAAmaloona khabeera

You who have iman! when you go out to fight in the Way of Allah verify things carefully. Do not say, ‘You are not a mumin’, to someone who greets you as a Muslim, simply out of desire for the goods of this world. With Allah there is booty in abundance. That is the way you were before but Allah has been kind to you. So verify things carefully. Allah is aware of what you do.

لَا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ غَيْرُ اُو۬لِي الضَّرَرِ وَالْمُجَاهِدُونَ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ بِاَمْوَالِهِمْ وَاَنْفُسِهِمْۜ فَضَّلَ اللّٰهُ الْمُجَاهِد۪ينَ بِاَمْوَالِهِمْ وَاَنْفُسِهِمْ عَلَى الْقَاعِد۪ينَ دَرَجَةًۜ وَكُلاًّ وَعَدَ اللّٰهُ الْحُسْنٰىۜ وَفَضَّلَ اللّٰهُ الْمُجَاهِد۪ينَ عَلَى الْقَاعِد۪ينَ اَجْراً عَظ۪يـماًۙ

La yastawee alqaAAidoona minaalmu/mineena ghayru olee addarari walmujahidoonafee sabeeli Allahi bi-amwalihim waanfusihim faddalaAllahu almujahideena bi-amwalihimwaanfusihim AAala alqaAAideena darajatan wakullanwaAAada Allahu alhusna wafaddala Allahualmujahideena AAala alqaAAideena ajran AAatheema

Those muminun who stay behind – other than those forced to by necessity – are not the same as those who do jihad in the Way of Allah, sacrificing their wealth and themselves. Allah has given those who do jihad with their wealth and themselves a higher rank than those who stay behind. Allah has promised the Best to both, but Allah has preferred those who do jihad over those who stay behind by an immense reward:

دَرَجَاتٍ مِنْهُ وَمَغْفِرَةً وَرَحْمَةًۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوراً رَح۪يماً۟

Darajatin minhu wamaghfiratan warahmatanwakana Allahu ghafooran raheema

high ranks conferred by Him as well as forgiveness and mercy. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ تَوَفّٰيهُمُ الْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ ظَالِم۪ٓي اَنْفُسِهِمْ قَالُوا ف۪يمَ كُنْتُمْۜ قَالُوا كُنَّا مُسْتَضْعَف۪ينَ فِي الْاَرْضِۜ قَالُٓوا اَلَمْ تَكُنْ اَرْضُ اللّٰهِ وَاسِعَةً فَتُهَاجِرُوا ف۪يهَاۜ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ مَأْوٰيهُمْ جَهَنَّمُۜ وَسَٓاءَتْ مَص۪يراًۙ

Inna allatheena tawaffahumualmala-ikatu thalimee anfusihim qaloofeema kuntum qaloo kunna mustadAAafeena feeal-ardi qaloo alam takun ardu AllahiwasiAAatan fatuhajiroo feeha faola-ikama/wahum jahannamu wasaat maseera

The angels ask those they take while they are wronging themselves, ‘What were your circumstances?’ They reply, ‘We were oppressed on earth. ’ They say, ‘Was Allah’s earth not wide enough for you to have made hijra elsewhere in it?’ The shelter of such people will be Hell. What an evil destination!

اِلَّا الْمُسْتَضْعَف۪ينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَٓاءِ وَالْوِلْدَانِ لَا يَسْتَط۪يعُونَ ح۪يلَةً وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ سَب۪يلاً

Illa almustadAAafeena mina arrijaliwannisa-i walwildani layastateeAAoona heelatan wala yahtadoonasabeela

Except for those men, women and children who really are oppressed and do not have any other possibility and are not guided to any way.

فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ عَسَى اللّٰهُ اَنْ يَعْفُوَ عَنْهُمْۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَفُواًّ غَفُوراً

Faola-ika AAasa Allahuan yaAAfuwa AAanhum wakana Allahu AAafuwwan ghafoora

It may well be that Allah will pardon them. Allah is Ever-Pardoning, Ever-Forgiving.

وَمَنْ يُهَاجِرْ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ يَجِدْ فِي الْاَرْضِ مُرَاغَماً كَث۪يراً وَسَعَةًۜ وَمَنْ يَخْرُجْ مِنْ بَيْتِه۪ مُهَاجِراً اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَرَسُولِه۪ ثُمَّ يُدْرِكْهُ الْمَوْتُ فَقَدْ وَقَعَ اَجْرُهُ عَلَى اللّٰهِۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوراً رَح۪يماً۟

Waman yuhajir fee sabeeli Allahiyajid fee al-ardi muraghaman katheeran wasaAAatanwaman yakhruj min baytihi muhajiran ila Allahiwarasoolihi thumma yudrik-hu almawtu faqad waqaAAa ajruhu AAalaAllahi wakana Allahu ghafooran raheema

Those who make hijra in the Way of Allah will find many places of refuge on the earth and ample sustenance. If anyone leaves his home, making hijra to Allah and His Messenger, and death catches up with him, it is Allah Who will reward him. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَاِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ فِي الْاَرْضِ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ اَنْ تَقْصُرُوا مِنَ الصَّلٰوةِۗ اِنْ خِفْتُمْ اَنْ يَفْتِنَكُمُ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُواۜ اِنَّ الْكَافِر۪ينَ كَانُوا لَكُمْ عَدُواًّ مُب۪يناً

Wa-itha darabtum fee al-ardifalaysa AAalaykum junahun an taqsuroo mina assalatiin khiftum an yaftinakumu allatheena kafaroo inna alkafireenakanoo lakum AAaduwwan mubeena

When you are travelling in the land, there is nothing wrong in your shortening your salat if you fear that those who are kafir may harass you. The kuffar are your clear-cut enemies.

وَاِذَا كُنْتَ ف۪يهِمْ فَاَقَمْتَ لَهُمُ الصَّلٰوةَ فَلْتَقُمْ طَٓائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ مَعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُٓوا اَسْلِحَتَهُمْ۠ فَاِذَا سَجَدُوا فَلْيَكُونُوا مِنْ وَرَٓائِكُمْۖ وَلْتَأْتِ طَٓائِفَةٌ اُخْرٰى لَمْ يُصَلُّوا فَلْيُصَلُّوا مَعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُوا حِذْرَهُمْ وَاَسْلِحَتَهُمْۚ وَدَّ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ تَغْفُلُونَ عَنْ اَسْلِحَتِكُمْ وَاَمْتِعَتِكُمْ فَيَم۪يلُونَ عَلَيْكُمْ مَيْلَةً وَاحِدَةًۜ وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ اِنْ كَانَ بِكُمْ اَذًى مِنْ مَطَرٍ اَوْ كُنْتُمْ مَرْضٰٓى اَنْ تَضَعُٓوا اَسْلِحَتَكُمْۚ وَخُذُوا حِذْرَكُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ اَعَدَّ لِلْكَافِر۪ينَ عَذَاباً مُه۪يناً

Wa-itha kunta feehim faaqamta lahumuassalata faltaqum ta-ifatun minhummaAAaka walya/khuthoo aslihatahum fa-ithasajadoo falyakoonoo min wara-ikum walta/ti ta-ifatunokhra lam yusalloo falyusalloo maAAakawalya/khuthoo hithrahum waaslihatahumwadda allatheena kafaroo law taghfuloona AAan aslihatikumwaamtiAAatikum fayameeloona AAalaykum maylatan wahidatanwala junaha AAalaykum in kana bikum athanmin matarin aw kuntum marda an tadaAAoo aslihatakumwakhuthoo hithrakum inna AllahaaAAadda lilkafireena AAathaban muheena

When you are with them and leading them in salat, a group of them should stand with you, keeping hold of their weapons. When they prostrate, the others should guard your backs. Then the other group who have not yet prayed should come and pray with you. They too should be careful and keep hold of their weapons. Those who are kafir would like you to be negligent of your arms and equipment so that they can swoop down on you once and for all. There is nothing wrong, if you are bothered by rain or you are ill, in laying your weapons down; but take every precaution. Allah has prepared a humiliating punishment for the kafirun.

فَاِذَا قَضَيْتُمُ الصَّلٰوةَ فَاذْكُرُوا اللّٰهَ قِيَاماً وَقُعُوداً وَعَلٰى جُنُوبِكُمْۚ فَاِذَا اطْمَأْنَنْتُمْ فَاَق۪يمُوا الصَّلٰوةَۚ اِنَّ الصَّلٰوةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ كِتَاباً مَوْقُوتاً

Fa-itha qadaytumu assalatafathkuroo Allaha qiyaman waquAAoodanwaAAala junoobikum fa-itha itma/nantumfaaqeemoo assalata inna assalatakanat AAala almu/mineena kitaban mawqoota

When you have finished salat remember Allah standing, sitting and lying on your sides. When you are safe again do salat in the normal way. The salat is prescribed for the muminun at specific times.

وَلَا تَهِنُوا فِي ابْتِغَٓاءِ الْقَوْمِۜ اِنْ تَكُونُوا تَأْلَمُونَ فَاِنَّهُمْ يَأْلَمُونَ كَمَا تَأْلَمُونَۚ وَتَرْجُونَ مِنَ اللّٰهِ مَا لَا يَرْجُونَۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً۟

Wala tahinoo fee ibtigha-ialqawmi in takoonoo ta/lamoona fa-innahum ya/lamoona kamata/lamoona watarjoona mina Allahi ma layarjoona wakana Allahu AAaleeman hakeema

Do not relax in pursuit of the enemy. If you feel pain, they too are feeling it just as you are, but you hope for something from Allah which they cannot hope for. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

اِنَّٓا اَنْزَلْـنَٓا اِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ لِتَحْكُمَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ بِمَٓا اَرٰيكَ اللّٰهُۜ وَلَا تَكُنْ لِلْخَٓائِن۪ينَ خَص۪يماًۙ

Inna anzalna ilayka alkitababilhaqqi litahkuma bayna annasibima araka Allahu wala takun lilkha-ineenakhaseema

We have sent down the Book to you with the truth so that you can judge between people according to what Allah has shown to you. But do not be an advocate for the treacherous.

وَاسْتَغْفِرِ اللّٰهَۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ غَفُوراً رَح۪يماًۚ

Wastaghfiri Allaha inna Allahakana ghafooran raheema

And ask Allah’s forgiveness. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَلَا تُجَادِلْ عَنِ الَّذ۪ينَ يَخْتَانُونَ اَنْفُسَهُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَنْ كَانَ خَوَّاناً اَث۪يماًۚ

Wala tujadil AAani allatheenayakhtanoona anfusahum inna Allaha la yuhibbuman kana khawwanan atheema

Do not argue on behalf of those who betray themselves. Allah does not love any evildoing traitors.

يَسْتَخْفُونَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يَسْتَخْفُونَ مِنَ اللّٰهِ وَهُوَ مَعَهُمْ اِذْ يُبَيِّتُونَ مَا لَا يَرْضٰى مِنَ الْقَوْلِۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُح۪يـطاً

Yastakhfoona mina annasi walayastakhfoona mina Allahi wahuwa maAAahum ithyubayyitoona ma la yarda mina alqawli wakanaAllahu bima yaAAmaloona muheeta

They try to conceal themselves from people, but they cannot conceal themselves from Allah. He is with them when they spend the night saying things which are not pleasing to Him. Allah encompasses everything they do.

هَٓا اَنْتُمْ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ جَادَلْتُمْ عَنْهُمْ فِي الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا فَمَنْ يُجَادِلُ اللّٰهَ عَنْهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ اَمْ مَنْ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَك۪يلاً

Haantum haola-i jadaltumAAanhum fee alhayati addunya famanyujadilu Allaha AAanhum yawma alqiyamati amman yakoonu AAalayhim wakeela

Here you are arguing on their behalf in this world, but who will argue with Allah on their behalf on the Day of Rising? Who will act as guardian for them then?

وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُٓوءاً اَوْ يَظْلِمْ نَفْسَهُ ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرِ اللّٰهَ يَجِدِ اللّٰهَ غَفُوراً رَح۪يماً

Waman yaAAmal soo-an aw yathlimnafsahu thumma yastaghfiri Allaha yajidi Allahaghafooran raheema

Anyone who does evil or wrongs himself and then asks Allah’s forgiveness will find Allah Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَمَنْ يَكْسِبْ اِثْماً فَاِنَّمَا يَكْسِبُهُ عَلٰى نَفْسِه۪ۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً

Waman yaksib ithman fa-innamayaksibuhu AAala nafsihi wakana AllahuAAaleeman hakeema

If anyone commits an evil action the responsibility for it is his alone. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

وَمَنْ يَكْسِبْ خَط۪ٓيـَٔةً اَوْ اِثْماً ثُمَّ يَرْمِ بِه۪ بَر۪ٓيـٔاً فَقَدِ احْتَمَلَ بُهْتَـاناً وَاِثْماً مُب۪يناً۟

Waman yaksib khatee-atan aw ithmanthumma yarmi bihi baree-an faqadi ihtamala buhtananwa-ithman mubeena

Anyone who commits an error or an evil action, and then ascribes it to someone innocent, bears the weight of slander and clear wrongdoing.

وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَتُهُ لَهَمَّتْ طَٓائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ اَنْ يُضِلُّوكَۜ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ اِلَّٓا اَنْفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَضُرُّونَكَ مِنْ شَيْءٍۜ وَاَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَكَ مَا لَمْ تَكُنْ تَعْلَمُۜ وَكَانَ فَضْلُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكَ عَظ۪يماً

Walawla fadlu AllahiAAalayka warahmatuhu lahammat ta-ifatun minhum anyudillooka wama yudilloona illaanfusahum wama yadurroonaka min shay-in waanzalaAllahu AAalayka alkitaba walhikmatawaAAallamaka ma lam takun taAAlamu wakana fadluAllahi AAalayka AAatheema

Were it not for Allah’s favour to you and His mercy, a group of them would almost have managed to mislead you. But they mislead no one but themselves and do not harm you in any way. Allah has sent down the Book and Wisdom to you and taught you what you did not know before. Allah’s favour to you is indeed immense.

لَا خَيْرَ ف۪ي كَث۪يرٍ مِنْ نَجْوٰيهُمْ اِلَّا مَنْ اَمَرَ بِصَدَقَةٍ اَوْ مَعْرُوفٍ اَوْ اِصْلَاحٍ بَيْنَ النَّاسِۜ وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذٰلِكَ ابْتِغَٓاءَ مَرْضَاتِ اللّٰهِ فَسَوْفَ نُؤْت۪يهِ اَجْراً عَظ۪يماً

La khayra fee katheerin min najwahumilla man amara bisadaqatin aw maAAroofin aw islahinbayna annasi waman yafAAal thalika ibtighaamardati Allahi fasawfa nu/teehi ajran AAatheema

There is no good in much of their secret talk, except in the case of those who enjoin sadaqa, or what is right, or putting things right between people. If anyone does that, seeking the pleasure of Allah, We will give him an immense reward.

وَمَنْ يُشَاقِقِ الرَّسُولَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ الْهُدٰى وَيَتَّبِـعْ غَيْرَ سَب۪يلِ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ نُوَلِّه۪ مَا تَوَلّٰى وَنُصْلِه۪ جَهَنَّمَۜ وَسَٓاءَتْ مَص۪يراً۟

Waman yushaqiqi arrasoolamin baAAdi ma tabayyana lahu alhuda wayattabiAAghayra sabeeli almu/mineena nuwallihi ma tawallawanuslihi jahannama wasaat maseera

But if anyone opposes the Messenger after the guidance has become clear to him, and follows other than the path of the muminun, We will hand him over to whatever he has turned to, and We will roast him in Hell. What an evil destination!

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ اَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِه۪ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذٰلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَٓاءُۜ وَمَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللّٰهِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَالاً بَع۪يداً

Inna Allaha la yaghfiru anyushraka bihi wayaghfiru ma doona thalika limanyashao waman yushrik billahi faqad dalladalalan baAAeeda

Allah does not forgive anything being associated with Him but He forgives whoever He wills for anything other than that. Anyone who associates something with Allah has gone very far astray.

اِنْ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِه۪ٓ اِلَّٓا اِنَاثاًۚ وَاِنْ يَدْعُونَ اِلَّا شَيْطَاناً مَر۪يداًۙ

In yadAAoona min doonihi illa inathanwa-in yadAAoona illa shaytanan mareeda

What they call on apart from Him are female idols. What they call on is an arrogant shaytan

لَعَنَهُ اللّٰهُۢ وَقَالَ لَاَتَّخِذَنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ نَص۪يباً مَفْرُوضاًۙ

LaAAanahu Allahu waqalalaattakhithanna min AAibadika naseebanmafrooda

whom Allah has cursed. He said, ‘I will take a certain fixed proportion of Your slaves.

وَلَاُضِلَّنَّهُمْ وَلَاُمَنِّيَنَّهُمْ وَلَاٰمُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّ اٰذَانَ الْاَنْعَامِ وَلَاٰمُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ خَلْقَ اللّٰهِۜ وَمَنْ يَتَّخِذِ الشَّيْطَانَ وَلِياًّ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ فَقَدْ خَسِرَ خُسْرَاناً مُب۪يناًۜ

Walaodillannahum walaomanniyannahumwalaamurannahum falayubattikunna athana al-anAAamiwalaamurannahum falayughayyirunna khalqa Allahiwaman yattakhithi ashshaytana waliyyan mindooni Allahi faqad khasira khusranan mubeena

I will lead them astray and fill them with false hopes. I will command them and they will cut off cattle’s ears. I will command them and they will change Allah’s creation.’ Anyone who takes Shaytan as his protector in place of Allah has clearly lost everything.

يَعِدُهُمْ وَيُمَنّ۪يهِمْۜ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ اِلَّا غُرُوراً

YaAAiduhum wayumanneehim wamayaAAiduhumu ashshaytanu illa ghuroora

He makes promises to them and fills them with false hopes. But what Shaytan promises them is nothing but delusion.

اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ مَأْوٰيهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ عَنْهَا مَح۪يصاً

Ola-ika ma/wahum jahannamuwala yajidoona AAanha maheesa

The shelter of such people will be Hell. They will find no way to escape from it.

وَالَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْر۪ي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهَارُ خَالِد۪ينَ ف۪يهَٓا اَبَداًۜ وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ حَقاًّۜ وَمَنْ اَصْدَقُ مِنَ اللّٰهِ ق۪يلاً

Wallatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati sanudkhiluhum jannatintajree min tahtiha al-anharu khalideenafeeha abadan waAAda Allahi haqqan waman asdaqumina Allahi qeela

But as for those who have iman and do right actions, We will admit them into Gardens with rivers flowing under them, remaining in them timelessly, for ever and ever. Allah’s promise is true. Whose speech could be truer than Allah’s?

لَيْسَ بِاَمَانِيِّكُمْ وَلَٓا اَمَانِيِّ اَهْلِ الْكِتَابِۜ مَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُٓوءاً يُجْزَ بِه۪ۙ وَلَا يَجِدْ لَهُ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ وَلِياًّ وَلَا نَص۪يراً

Laysa bi-amaniyyikum wala amaniyyiahli alkitabi man yaAAmal soo-an yujza bihi walayajid lahu min dooni Allahi waliyyan wala naseera

It is not a matter of wishful thinking on your part nor of the wishful thinking of the People of the Book. Anyone who does evil will be repaid for it. He will not find any protector or helper besides Allah.

وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِنَ الصَّالِحَاتِ مِنْ ذَكَرٍ اَوْ اُنْثٰى وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ نَق۪يراً

Waman yaAAmal mina assalihatimin thakarin aw ontha wahuwa mu/minun faola-ikayadkhuloona aljannata wala yuthlamoonanaqeera

Anyone, male or female, who does right actions and is a mumin, will enter the Garden. They will not be wronged by so much as the tiniest speck.

وَمَنْ اَحْسَنُ د۪يناً مِمَّنْ اَسْلَمَ وَجْهَهُ لِلّٰهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ وَاتَّبَعَ مِلَّةَ اِبْرٰه۪يمَ حَن۪يفاًۜ وَاتَّخَذَ اللّٰهُ اِبْرٰه۪يمَ خَل۪يلاً

Waman ahsanu deenan mimman aslamawajhahu lillahi wahuwa muhsinun wattabaAAamillata ibraheema haneefan wattakhathaAllahu ibraheema khaleela

Who could have a better deen than someone who submits himself completely to Allah and is a good-doer, and follows the religion of Ibrahim, a man of pure natural belief? Allah took Ibrahim as an intimate friend.

وَلِلّٰهِ مَا فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُح۪يطاً۟

Walillahi ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi wakana Allahubikulli shay-in muheeta

What is in the heavens and in the earth belongs to Allah. Allah encompasses all things.

وَيَسْتَفْتُونَكَ فِي النِّسَٓاءِۜ قُلِ اللّٰهُ يُفْت۪يكُمْ ف۪يهِنَّۙ وَمَا يُتْلٰى عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ ف۪ي يَتَامَى النِّسَٓاءِ الّٰت۪ي لَا تُؤْتُونَهُنَّ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُنَّ وَتَرْغَبُونَ اَنْ تَنْكِحُوهُنَّ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَف۪ينَ مِنَ الْوِلْدَانِۙ وَاَنْ تَقُومُوا لِلْيَتَامٰى بِالْقِسْطِۜ وَمَا تَفْعَلُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِه۪ عَل۪يماً

Wayastaftoonaka fee annisa-iquli Allahu yufteekum feehinna wama yutlaAAalaykum fee alkitabi fee yatama annisa-iallatee la tu/toonahunna ma kutiba lahunnawatarghaboona an tankihoohunna walmustadAAafeenamina alwildani waan taqoomoo lilyatama bilqistiwama tafAAaloo min khayrin fa-inna Allaha kanabihi AAaleema

They will ask you for a fatwa about women. Say, ‘Allah gives you a fatwa about them; and also what is recited to you in the Book about orphan girls to whom you do not give the inheritance they are owed, while at the same time desiring to marry them; and also about young children who are denied their rights: that you should act justly with respect to orphans.’ Whatever good you do, Allah knows it.

وَاِنِ امْرَاَةٌ خَافَتْ مِنْ بَعْلِهَا نُشُوزاً اَوْ اِعْرَاضاً فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَٓا اَنْ يُصْلِحَا بَيْنَهُمَا صُلْحاًۜ وَالصُّلْحُ خَيْرٌۜ وَاُحْضِرَتِ الْاَنْفُسُ الشُّحَّۜ وَاِنْ تُحْسِنُوا وَتَتَّقُوا فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَب۪يراً

Wa-ini imraatun khafat min baAAlihanushoozan aw iAAradan fala junaha AAalayhimaan yusliha baynahuma sulhan wassulhukhayrun waohdirati al-anfusu ashshuhhawa-in tuhsinoo watattaqoo fa-inna Allaha kanabima taAAmaloona khabeera

If a woman fears cruelty or aversion on her husband’s part, there is nothing wrong in the couple becoming reconciled. Reconciliation is better. But people are prone to selfish greed. If you do good and have taqwa, Allah is aware of what you do.

وَلَنْ تَسْتَط۪يعُٓوا اَنْ تَعْدِلُوا بَيْنَ النِّسَٓاءِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتُمْ فَلَا تَم۪يلُوا كُلَّ الْمَيْلِ فَتَذَرُوهَا كَالْمُعَلَّقَةِۜ وَاِنْ تُصْلِحُوا وَتَتَّقُوا فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ غَفُوراً رَح۪يماً

Walan tastateeAAoo an taAAdiloobayna annisa-i walaw harastum falatameeloo kulla almayli fatatharooha kalmuAAallaqatiwa-in tuslihoo watattaqoo fa-inna Allaha kanaghafooran raheema

You will not be able to be completely fair between your wives, however hard you try. But do not be completely partial so as to leave a wife, as it were, suspended in mid-air. And if you make amends and have taqwa, Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَاِنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا يُغْنِ اللّٰهُ كُلاًّ مِنْ سَعَتِه۪ۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ وَاسِعاً حَك۪يماً

Wa-in yatafarraqa yughni Allahukullan min saAAatihi wakana Allahu wasiAAan hakeema

If a couple do separate, Allah will enrich each of them from His boundless wealth. Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Wise.

وَلِلّٰهِ مَا فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِۜ وَلَقَدْ وَصَّيْنَا الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَاِيَّاكُمْ اَنِ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَۜ وَاِنْ تَكْفُرُوا فَاِنَّ لِلّٰهِ مَا فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَنِياًّ حَم۪يداً

Walillahi ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi walaqad wassaynaallatheena ootoo alkitaba min qablikum wa-iyyakumani ittaqoo Allaha wa-in takfuroo fa-inna lillahi mafee assamawati wama fee al-ardiwakana Allahu ghaniyyan hameeda

What is in the heavens and in the earth belongs to Allah. We have instructed those given the Book before you and you yourselves, to have taqwa of Allah, but if you are kafir, what is in the heavens and in the earth belongs to Allah. Allah is Rich Beyond Need, Praiseworthy.

وَلِلّٰهِ مَا فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِۜ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ وَك۪يلاً

Walillahi ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi wakafa billahiwakeela

What is in the heavens and in the earth belongs to Allah. Allah suffices as a Guardian.

اِنْ يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ اَيُّهَا النَّاسُ وَيَأْتِ بِاٰخَر۪ينَۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى ذٰلِكَ قَد۪يراً

In yasha/ yuthhibkum ayyuha annasuwaya/ti bi-akhareena wakana Allahu AAalathalika qadeera

Mankind! if He wanted, He could remove you altogether, and produce others instead. Allah certainly has the power to do that.

مَنْ كَانَ يُر۪يدُ ثَوَابَ الدُّنْيَا فَعِنْدَ اللّٰهِ ثَوَابُ الدُّنْيَا وَالْاٰخِرَةِۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ سَم۪يعاً بَص۪يراً۟

Man kana yureedu thawaba addunyafaAAinda Allahi thawabu addunya wal-akhiratiwakana Allahu sameeAAan baseera

If anyone desires the reward of this world, the reward of both this world and the Next World is with Allah. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا كُونُوا قَوَّام۪ينَ بِالْقِسْطِ شُهَدَٓاءَ لِلّٰهِ وَلَوْ عَلٰٓى اَنْفُسِكُمْ اَوِ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالْاَقْرَب۪ينَۚ اِنْ يَكُنْ غَنِياًّ اَوْ فَق۪يراً فَاللّٰهُ اَوْلٰى بِهِمَا فَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا الْهَوٰٓى اَنْ تَعْدِلُواۚ وَاِنْ تَلْـوُٓ۫ا اَوْ تُعْرِضُوا فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَب۪يراً

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanookoonoo qawwameena bilqisti shuhadaalillahi walaw AAala anfusikum awi alwalidayniwal-aqrabeena in yakun ghaniyyan aw faqeeran fallahuawla bihima fala tattabiAAoo alhawaan taAAdiloo wa-in talwoo aw tuAAridoo fa-inna Allahakana bima taAAmaloona khabeera

You who have iman! be upholders of justice, bearing witness for Allah alone, even against yourselves or your parents and relatives. Whether they are rich or poor, Allah is well able to look after them. Do not follow your own desires and deviate from the truth. If you twist or turn away, Allah is aware of what you do.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓوا اٰمِنُوا بِاللّٰهِ وَرَسُولِه۪ وَالْكِتَابِ الَّذ۪ي نَزَّلَ عَلٰى رَسُولِه۪ وَالْكِتَابِ الَّـذ۪ٓي اَنْزَلَ مِنْ قَبْلُۜ وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِاللّٰهِ وَمَلٰٓئِكَتِه۪ وَكُتُبِه۪ وَرُسُلِه۪ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَالاً بَع۪يداً

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooaminoo billahi warasoolihi walkitabiallathee nazzala AAala rasoolihi walkitabiallathee anzala min qablu waman yakfur billahiwamala-ikatihi wakutubihi warusulihi walyawmi al-akhirifaqad dalla dalalan baAAeeda

You who have iman! have iman in Allah and His Messenger and in the Book He sent down to His Messenger, and the Books He sent down before. Anyone who rejects Allah and His angels and His Books and His Messengers and the Last Day has gone very far astray.

اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا ثُمَّ اٰمَنُوا ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا ثُمَّ ازْدَادُوا كُفْراً لَمْ يَكُنِ اللّٰهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ سَب۪يلاًۜ

Inna allatheena amanoo thummakafaroo thumma amanoo thumma kafaroo thumma izdadookufran lam yakuni Allahu liyaghfira lahum walaliyahdiyahum sabeela

As for those who have iman and then return to kufr, and then again have iman and then return to kufr, and then increase in kufr, Allah will not forgive them or guide them on any path.

بَشِّرِ الْمُنَافِق۪ينَ بِاَنَّ لَهُمْ عَذَاباً اَل۪يماًۙ

Bashshiri almunafiqeena bi-annalahum AAathaban aleema

Give news to the hypocrites that they will have a painful punishment.

اَلَّذ۪ينَ يَتَّخِذُونَ الْكَافِر۪ينَ اَوْلِيَٓاءَ مِنْ دُونِ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَۜ اَيَبْتَغُونَ عِنْدَهُمُ الْعِزَّةَ فَاِنَّ الْعِزَّةَ لِلّٰهِ جَم۪يعاًۜ

Allatheena yattakhithoona alkafireenaawliyaa min dooni almu/mineena ayabtaghoona AAindahumualAAizzata fa-inna alAAizzata lillahi jameeAAa

Do those who take the kafirun as protectors, rather than the muminun, hope to find power and strength with them? Power and strength belong entirely to Allah.

وَقَدْ نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ اَنْ اِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ اٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ يُكْفَرُ بِهَا وَيُسْتَهْزَاُ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْعُدُوا مَعَهُمْ حَتّٰى يَخُوضُوا ف۪ي حَد۪يثٍ غَيْرِه۪ۘ اِنَّكُمْ اِذاً مِثْلُهُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ جَامِـعُ الْمُنَافِق۪ينَ وَالْكَافِر۪ينَ ف۪ي جَهَنَّمَ جَم۪يعاًۙ

Waqad nazzala AAalaykum fee alkitabian itha samiAAtum ayati Allahiyukfaru biha wayustahzao biha fala taqAAudoomaAAahum hatta yakhoodoo fee hadeethinghayrihi innakum ithan mithluhum inna Allaha jamiAAualmunafiqeena walkafireena fee jahannamajameeAAa

It has been sent down to you in the Book that when you hear Allah’s Signs being rejected and mocked at by people, you must not sit with them till they start talking of other things. If you do you are just the same as them. Allah will gather all the hypocrites and kafirun into Hell.

اَلَّذ۪ينَ يَتَرَبَّصُونَ بِكُمْۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فَتْحٌ مِنَ اللّٰهِ قَالُٓوا اَلَمْ نَكُنْ مَعَكُمْۘ وَاِنْ كَانَ لِلْكَافِر۪ينَ نَص۪يبٌۙ قَالُٓوا اَلَمْ نَسْتَحْوِذْ عَلَيْكُمْ وَنَمْنَعْكُمْ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَۜ فَاللّٰهُ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِۜ وَلَنْ يَجْعَلَ اللّٰهُ لِلْكَافِر۪ينَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ سَب۪يلاً۟

Allatheena yatarabbasoonabikum fa-in kana lakum fathun mina Allahi qalooalam nakun maAAakum wa-in kana lilkafireena naseebunqaloo alam nastahwith AAalaykum wanamnaAAkummina almu/mineena fallahu yahkumu baynakumyawma alqiyamati walan yajAAala Allahu lilkafireenaAAala almu/mineena sabeela

Those who anticipate the worst for you say, ‘Were we not with you?’ whenever you gain a victory from Allah, but if the kuffar have a success they say, ‘Did we not have the upper hand over you and yet in spite of that keep the muminun away from you?’ Allah will judge between you on the Day of Rising. Allah will not give the kuffar any way against the muminun.

اِنَّ الْمُنَافِق۪ينَ يُخَادِعُونَ اللّٰهَ وَهُوَ خَادِعُهُمْۚ وَاِذَا قَامُٓوا اِلَى الصَّلٰوةِ قَامُوا كُسَالٰىۙ يُرَٓاؤُ۫نَ النَّاسَ وَلَا يَذْكُرُونَ اللّٰهَ اِلَّا قَل۪يلاًۘ

Inna almunafiqeena yukhadiAAoonaAllaha wahuwa khadiAAuhum wa-itha qamooila assalati qamoo kusalayuraoona annasa wala yathkuroonaAllaha illa qaleela

The hypocrites think they deceive Allah, but He is deceiving them. When they get up to pray, they get up lazily, showing off to people, and only remembering Allah a very little.

مُذَبْذَب۪ينَ بَيْنَ ذٰلِكَۗ لَٓا اِلٰى هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ وَلَٓا اِلٰى هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِۜ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلِ اللّٰهُ فَلَنْ تَجِدَ لَهُ سَب۪يلاً

Muthabthabeena bayna thalikala ila haola-i wala ilahaola-i waman yudlili Allahu falantajida lahu sabeela

They vacillate between the two – not joining these or joining those. If Allah misguides someone, you will not find any way for him to go.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا الْكَافِر۪ينَ اَوْلِيَٓاءَ مِنْ دُونِ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَۜ اَتُر۪يدُونَ اَنْ تَجْعَلُوا لِلّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلْطَاناً مُب۪يناً

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tattakhithoo alkafireena awliyaamin dooni almu/mineena atureedoona an tajAAaloo lillahiAAalaykum sultanan mubeena

You who have iman! do not take the kafirun as friends rather than the muminun. Do you want to give Allah clear proof against you?

اِنَّ الْمُنَافِق۪ينَ فِي الدَّرْكِ الْاَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِۚ وَلَنْ تَجِدَ لَهُمْ نَص۪يراًۙ

Inna almunafiqeena fee addarkial-asfali mina annari walan tajida lahum naseera

The hypocrites are in the lowest level of the Fire. You will not find any one to help them,

اِلَّا الَّذ۪ينَ تَابُوا وَاَصْلَحُوا وَاعْتَصَمُوا بِاللّٰهِ وَاَخْلَصُوا د۪ينَهُمْ لِلّٰهِ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَۜ وَسَوْفَ يُؤْتِ اللّٰهُ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ اَجْراً عَظ۪يماً

Illa allatheena taboowaaslahoo waAAtasamoo billahiwaakhlasoo deenahum lillahi faola-ika maAAaalmu/mineena wasawfa yu/ti Allahu almu/mineena ajran AAatheema

except those who make tawba and put things right and hold fast to Allah and dedicate their deen to Allah alone; they are with the muminun. Allah will give the muminun an immense reward.

مَا يَفْعَلُ اللّٰهُ بِعَذَابِكُمْ اِنْ شَكَرْتُمْ وَاٰمَنْتُمْۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ شَاكِراً عَل۪يماً

Ma yafAAalu Allahu biAAathabikumin shakartum waamantum wakana Allahu shakiranAAaleema

Why should Allah punish you if you are thankful and have iman? Allah is All-Thankful, All-Knowing.

لَا يُحِبُّ اللّٰهُ الْجَهْرَ بِالسُّٓوءِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ اِلَّا مَنْ ظُلِمَۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ سَم۪يعاً عَل۪يماً

La yuhibbu Allahualjahra bissoo-i mina alqawli illa man thulimawakana Allahu sameeAAan AAaleema

Allah does not like evil words being voiced out loud, except in the case of someone who has been wronged. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

اِنْ تُبْدُوا خَيْراً اَوْ تُخْفُوهُ اَوْ تَعْفُوا عَنْ سُٓوءٍ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَفُواًّ قَد۪يراً

In tubdoo khayran aw tukhfoohu aw taAAfooAAan soo-in fa-inna Allaha kana AAafuwwan qadeera

Whether you reveal a good act or keep it hidden, or pardon an evil act, Allah is Ever-Pardoning, All-Powerful.

اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ يَكْفُرُونَ بِاللّٰهِ وَرُسُلِه۪ وَيُر۪يدُونَ اَنْ يُفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَ اللّٰهِ وَرُسُلِه۪ وَيَقُولُونَ نُؤْمِنُ بِبَعْضٍ وَنَكْفُرُ بِبَعْضٍۙ وَيُر۪يدُونَ اَنْ يَتَّخِذُوا بَيْنَ ذٰلِكَ سَب۪يلاًۙ

Inna allatheena yakfuroona billahiwarusulihi wayureedoona an yufarriqoo bayna Allahiwarusulihi wayaqooloona nu/minu bibaAAdin wanakfuru bibaAAdinwayureedoona an yattakhithoo bayna thalika sabeela

Those who reject Allah and His Messengers and desire to cause division between Allah and His Messengers, saying, ‘We have iman in some and reject the others,’ wanting to take a pathway in between,

اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْكَافِرُونَ حَقاًّۚ وَاَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِر۪ينَ عَذَاباً مُه۪يناً

Ola-ika humu alkafiroona haqqanwaaAAtadna lilkafireena AAathaban muheena

such people are the true kuffar. We have prepared a humiliating punishment for the kuffar.

وَالَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا بِاللّٰهِ وَرُسُلِه۪ وَلَمْ يُفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَ اَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ سَوْفَ يُؤْت۪يهِمْ اُجُورَهُمْۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوراً رَح۪يماً۟

Wallatheena amanoo billahiwarusulihi walam yufarriqoo bayna ahadin minhum ola-ikasawfa yu/teehim ojoorahum wakana Allahu ghafooranraheema

Those who have iman in Allah and His Messengers and do not differentiate between any of them, We will pay them their wages. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

يَسْـَٔلُكَ اَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ اَنْ تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ كِتَاباً مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ فَقَدْ سَاَلُوا مُوسٰٓى اَكْبَرَ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ فَقَالُٓوا اَرِنَا اللّٰهَ جَهْرَةً فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ بِظُلْمِهِمْۚ ثُمَّ اتَّخَذُوا الْعِجْلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَٓاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَاتُ فَعَفَوْنَا عَنْ ذٰلِكَۚ وَاٰتَيْنَا مُوسٰى سُلْطَاناً مُب۪يناً

Yas-aluka ahlu alkitabi an tunazzilaAAalayhim kitaban mina assama-i faqadsaaloo moosa akbara min thalika faqaloo arinaAllaha jahratan faakhathat-humu assaAAiqatubithulmihim thumma ittakhathoo alAAijla minbaAAdi ma jaat-humu albayyinatu faAAafawnaAAan thalika waatayna moosa sultananmubeena

The People of the Book will ask you to bring down a Book from heaven to them. They asked Musa for even more than that. They said, ‘Let us see Allah with our own eyes.’ So the lightning-bolt struck them down for their wrongdoing. Then they adopted the Calf after the Clear Signs had come to them, but We pardoned them for that and gave Musa clear authority.

وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَهُمُ الطُّورَ بِم۪يثَاقِهِمْ وَقُلْنَا لَهُمُ ادْخُلُوا الْبَابَ سُجَّداً وَقُلْنَا لَهُمْ لَا تَعْدُوا فِي السَّبْتِ وَاَخَذْنَا مِنْهُمْ م۪يثَاقاً غَل۪يظاً

WarafaAAna fawqahumu attoorabimeethaqihim waqulna lahumu odkhuloo albabasujjadan waqulna lahum la taAAdoo fee assabtiwaakhathna minhum meethaqan ghaleetha

We lifted up the Mount above their heads in accordance with the covenant they had made, and We said to them, ‘Enter the gate prostrating,’ and We said to them, ‘Do not break the Sabbath,’ and We made a binding covenant with them.

فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِمْ م۪يثَاقَهُمْ وَكُفْرِهِمْ بِاٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ وَقَتْلِهِمُ الْاَنْبِيَٓاءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَقَوْلِهِمْ قُلُوبُنَا غُلْفٌۜ بَلْ طَبَعَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهَا بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ اِلَّا قَل۪يلاًۖ

Fabima naqdihim meethaqahumwakufrihim bi-ayati Allahi waqatlihimual-anbiyaa bighayri haqqin waqawlihim quloobunaghulfun bal tabaAAa Allahu AAalayhabikufrihim fala yu/minoona illa qaleela

Because of the fact that they broke their covenant, and rejected Allah’s Signs, and killed the Prophets without any right to do so and said, ‘Our hearts are uncircumcised,’ Allah has stamped them with kufr, so they do not have iman except for very few.

وَبِكُفْرِهِمْ وَقَوْلِهِمْ عَلٰى مَرْيَمَ بُهْتَاناً عَظ۪يماًۙ

Wabikufrihim waqawlihim AAalamaryama buhtanan AAatheema

And on account of their kufr, and their utterance of a monstrous slander against Maryam,

وَقَوْلِهِمْ اِنَّا قَتَلْنَا الْمَس۪يحَ ع۪يسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولَ اللّٰهِۚ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلٰكِنْ شُبِّهَ لَهُمْۜ وَاِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ اخْتَلَفُوا ف۪يهِ لَف۪ي شَكٍّ مِنْهُۜ مَا لَهُمْ بِه۪ مِنْ عِلْمٍ اِلَّا اتِّبَاعَ الظَّنِّۚ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ يَق۪يناًۙ

Waqawlihim inna qatalnaalmaseeha AAeesa ibna maryama rasoola Allahiwama qataloohu wama salaboohu walakinshubbiha lahum wa-inna allatheena ikhtalafoo feehi lafeeshakkin minhu ma lahum bihi min AAilmin illa ittibaAAaaththanni wama qataloohu yaqeena

and their saying, ‘We killed the Messiah, ‘Isa son of Maryam, Messenger of Allah. ’ They did not kill him and they did not crucify him but it was made to seem so to them. Those who argue about him are in doubt about it. They have no real knowledge of it, just conjecture. But they certainly did not kill him.

بَلْ رَفَعَهُ اللّٰهُ اِلَيْهِۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَز۪يزاً حَك۪يماً

Bal rafaAAahu Allahu ilayhi wakanaAllahu AAazeezan hakeema

Allah raised him up to Himself. Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.

وَاِنْ مِنْ اَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ اِلَّا لَيُؤْمِنَنَّ بِه۪ قَبْلَ مَوْتِه۪ۚ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَه۪يداًۚ

Wa-in min ahli alkitabi illalayu/minanna bihi qabla mawtihi wayawma alqiyamati yakoonuAAalayhim shaheeda

There is not one of the People of the Book who will not believe in him before he dies; and on the Day of Rising he will be a witness against them.

فَبِظُلْمٍ مِنَ الَّذ۪ينَ هَادُوا حَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ طَيِّبَاتٍ اُحِلَّتْ لَهُمْ وَبِصَدِّهِمْ عَنْ سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ كَث۪يراًۙ

Fabithulmin mina allatheenahadoo harramna AAalayhim tayyibatinohillat lahum wabisaddihim AAan sabeeli Allahikatheera

Because of wrongdoing on the part of the Jews, We made haram for them some good things which had previously been halal for them; and because of their obstructing many people from the Way of Allah,

وَاَخْذِهِمُ الرِّبٰوا وَقَدْ نُهُوا عَنْهُ وَاَكْلِهِمْ اَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَاطِلِۜ وَاَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِر۪ينَ مِنْهُمْ عَذَاباً اَل۪يماً

Waakhthihimu arribawaqad nuhoo AAanhu waaklihim amwala annasibilbatili waaAAtadna lilkafireenaminhum AAathaban aleema

and because of their practising usury when they were forbidden to do it, and because of their consuming people’s wealth by wrongful means, We have prepared for the kafirun among them a painful punishment.

لٰكِنِ الرَّاسِخُونَ فِي الْعِلْمِ مِنْهُمْ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِمَٓا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ وَمَٓا اُنْزِلَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ وَالْمُق۪يم۪ينَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَالْمُؤْتُونَ الزَّكٰوةَ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ سَنُؤْت۪يهِمْ اَجْراً عَظ۪يماً۟

Lakini arrasikhoonafee alAAilmi minhum walmu/minoona yu/minoona bimaonzila ilayka wama onzila min qablika walmuqeemeenaassalata walmu/toona azzakatawalmu/minoona billahi walyawmi al-akhiriola-ika sanu/teehim ajran AAatheema

But those of them who are firmly rooted in knowledge, and the muminun, have iman in what has been sent down to you and what was sent down before you: those who establish salat and pay zakat, and have iman in Allah and the Last Day – We will pay such people an immense wage.

اِنَّٓا اَوْحَيْنَٓا اِلَيْكَ كَمَٓا اَوْحَيْنَٓا اِلٰى نُوحٍ وَالنَّبِيّ۪نَ مِنْ بَعْدِه۪ۚ وَاَوْحَيْنَٓا اِلٰٓى اِبْرٰه۪يمَ وَاِسْمٰع۪يلَ وَاِسْحٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَالْاَسْبَاطِ وَع۪يسٰى وَاَيُّوبَ وَيُونُسَ وَهٰرُونَ وَسُلَيْمٰنَۚ وَاٰتَيْنَا دَاوُ۫دَ زَبُوراًۚ

Inna awhayna ilaykakama awhayna ila noohin wannabiyyeenamin baAAdihi waawhayna ila ibraheemawa-ismaAAeela wa-ishaqa wayaAAqooba wal-asbatiwaAAeesa waayyooba wayoonusa waharoona wasulaymanawaatayna dawooda zaboora

We have revealed to you as We revealed to Nuh and the Prophets who came after him. And We revealed to Ibrahim and Isma‘il and Ishaq and Ya‘qub and the Tribes, and ‘Isa and Ayyub and Yunus and Harun and Sulayman. And We gave Dawud the Zabur.

وَرُسُلاً قَدْ قَصَصْنَاهُمْ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَرُسُلاً لَمْ نَقْصُصْهُمْ عَلَيْكَۜ وَكَلَّمَ اللّٰهُ مُوسٰى تَكْل۪يماًۚ

Warusulan qad qasasnahumAAalayka min qablu warusulan lam naqsushum AAalaykawakallama Allahu moosa takleema

There are Messengers We have already told you about and Messengers We have not told you about; and Allah spoke directly to Musa –

رُسُلاً مُبَشِّر۪ينَ وَمُنْذِر۪ينَ لِئَلَّا يَكُونَ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَى اللّٰهِ حُجَّةٌ بَعْدَ الرُّسُلِۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَز۪يزاً حَك۪يماً

Rusulan mubashshireena wamunthireenali-alla yakoona linnasi AAala Allahihujjatun baAAda arrusuli wakana AllahuAAazeezan hakeema

Messengers bringing good news and giving warning, so that people will have no argument against Allah after the coming of the Messengers. Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.

لٰكِنِ اللّٰهُ يَشْهَدُ بِمَٓا اَنْزَلَ اِلَيْكَ اَنْزَلَهُ بِعِلْمِه۪ۚ وَالْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ يَشْهَدُونَۜ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ شَه۪يداً

Lakini Allahu yashhadu bimaanzala ilayka anzalahu biAAilmihi walmala-ikatuyashhadoona wakafa billahi shaheeda

But Allah bears witness to what He has sent down to you. He has sent it down with His knowledge. The angels bear witness as well. And Allah suffices as a Witness.

اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا وَصَدُّوا عَنْ سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ قَدْ ضَلُّوا ضَلَالاً بَع۪يداً

Inna allatheena kafaroo wasaddooAAan sabeeli Allahi qad dalloo dalalanbaAAeeda

Those who are kafir and bar access to the Way of Allah have gone very far astray.

اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا وَظَلَمُوا لَمْ يَكُنِ اللّٰهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ طَر۪يقاًۙ

Inna allatheena kafaroo wathalamoolam yakuni Allahu liyaghfira lahum walaliyahdiyahum tareeqa

Allah will not forgive those who are kafir and do wrong or guide them on any path,

اِلَّا طَر۪يقَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِد۪ينَ ف۪يهَٓا اَبَداًۜ وَكَانَ ذٰلِكَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ يَس۪يراً

Illa tareeqa jahannama khalideenafeeha abadan wakana thalika AAala Allahiyaseera

except the path of Hell, remaining in it timelessly, for ever and ever. That is easy for Allah.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَٓاءَكُمُ الرَّسُولُ بِالْحَقِّ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ فَاٰمِنُوا خَيْراً لَكُمْۜ وَاِنْ تَكْفُرُوا فَاِنَّ لِلّٰهِ مَا فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً

Ya ayyuha annasuqad jaakumu arrasoolu bilhaqqi minrabbikum faaminoo khayran lakum wa-in takfuroo fa-innalillahi ma fee assamawati wal-ardiwakana Allahu AAaleeman hakeema

Mankind! the Messenger has brought you the truth from your Lord, so it is better for you to have iman. But if you are kafir, everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

يَٓا اَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَا تَغْلُوا ف۪ي د۪ينِكُمْ وَلَا تَقُولُوا عَلَى اللّٰهِ اِلَّا الْحَقَّۜ اِنَّمَا الْمَس۪يحُ ع۪يسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولُ اللّٰهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُۚ اَلْقٰيهَٓا اِلٰى مَرْيَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِنْهُۘ فَاٰمِنُوا بِاللّٰهِ وَرُسُلِه۪ۚ وَلَا تَقُولُوا ثَلٰثَةٌۜ اِنْتَهُوا خَيْراً لَكُمْۜ اِنَّمَا اللّٰهُ اِلٰهٌ وَاحِدٌۜ سُبْحَانَهُٓ اَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ وَلَدٌۢ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِۜ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ وَك۪يلاً۟

Ya ahla alkitabi lataghloo fee deenikum wala taqooloo AAala Allahiilla alhaqqa innama almaseehu AAeesaibnu maryama rasoolu Allahi wakalimatuhu alqahaila maryama waroohun minhu faaminoo billahiwarusulihi wala taqooloo thalathatun intahookhayran lakum innama Allahu ilahun wahidunsubhanahu an yakoona lahu waladun lahu ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi wakafa billahiwakeela

People of the Book! do not go to excess in your deen. Say nothing but the truth about Allah. The Messiah, ‘Isa son of Maryam, was only the Messenger of Allah and His Word, which He cast into Maryam, and a Spirit from Him. So have iman in Allah and His Messengers. Do not say, ‘Three.’ It is better that you stop. Allah is only One God. He is too Glorious to have a son! Everything in the heavens and in the earth belongs to Him. Allah suffices as a Guardian.

لَنْ يَسْتَنْكِفَ الْمَس۪يحُ اَنْ يَكُونَ عَبْداً لِلّٰهِ وَلَا الْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَۜ وَمَنْ يَسْتَنْكِفْ عَنْ عِبَادَتِه۪ وَيَسْتَكْبِرْ فَسَيَحْشُرُهُمْ اِلَيْهِ جَم۪يعاً

Lan yastankifa almaseehu an yakoonaAAabdan lillahi wala almala-ikatualmuqarraboona waman yastankif AAan AAibadatihiwayastakbir fasayahshuruhum ilayhi jameeAAa

The Messiah would never disdain to be a slave to Allah nor would the angels near to Him. If any do disdain to worship Him, and grow arrogant, He will in any case gather them all to Him.

فَاَمَّا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَيُوَفّ۪يهِمْ اُجُورَهُمْ وَيَز۪يدُهُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِه۪ۚ وَاَمَّا الَّذ۪ينَ اسْتَنْكَفُوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا فَيُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَاباً اَل۪يماًۙ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ وَلِياًّ وَلَا نَص۪يراً

Faamma allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati fayuwaffeehimojoorahum wayazeeduhum min fadlihi waamma allatheenaistankafoo wastakbaroo fayuAAaththibuhum AAathabanaleeman wala yajidoona lahum min dooni Allahiwaliyyan wala naseera

As for those who have iman and do right actions, He will pay them their wages in full and will give them increase from His favour. As for those who show disdain and grow arrogant, He will punish them with a painful punishment. They will not find any protector or helper for themselves besides Allah.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَٓاءَكُمْ بُرْهَانٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَاَنْزَلْـنَٓا اِلَيْكُمْ نُوراً مُب۪يناً

Ya ayyuha annasuqad jaakum burhanun min rabbikum waanzalnailaykum nooran mubeena

Mankind! a clear proof has come to you from your Lord. We have sent down a Clear Light to you.

فَاَمَّا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا بِاللّٰهِ وَاعْتَصَمُوا بِه۪ فَسَيُدْخِلُهُمْ ف۪ي رَحْمَةٍ مِنْهُ وَفَضْلٍۙ وَيَهْد۪يهِمْ اِلَيْهِ صِرَاطاً مُسْتَق۪يماًۜ

Faamma allatheena amanoobillahi waAAtasamoo bihifasayudkhiluhum fee rahmatin minhu wafadlinwayahdeehim ilayhi siratan mustaqeema

As for those who have iman in Allah and hold fast to Him, He will admit them into mercy and favour from Him and will guide them to Him on a straight path.

يَسْتَفْتُونَكَۜ قُلِ اللّٰهُ يُفْت۪يكُمْ فِي الْكَلَالَةِۜ اِنِ امْرُؤٌا هَلَكَ لَيْسَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ وَلَهُٓ اُخْتٌ فَلَهَا نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَۚ وَهُوَ يَرِثُـهَٓا اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهَا وَلَدٌۜ فَاِنْ كَانَتَا اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُمَا الثُّلُثَانِ مِمَّا تَرَكَۜ وَاِنْ كَانُٓوا اِخْوَةً رِجَالاً وَنِسَٓاءً فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِۜ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ اَنْ تَضِلُّواۜ وَاللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يمٌ

Yastaftoonaka quli Allahu yufteekumfee alkalalati ini imruon halaka laysa lahu waladun walahuokhtun falaha nisfu ma taraka wahuwayarithuha in lam yakun laha waladun fa-in kanataithnatayni falahuma aththuluthani mimmataraka wa-in kanoo ikhwatan rijalan wanisaanfaliththakari mithlu haththialonthayayni yubayyinu Allahu lakum an tadilloo wallahubikulli shay-in AAaleem

They will ask you for a fatwa. Say: ‘Allah gives you a fatwa about people who die without direct heirs: If a man dies childless but has a sister she receives half of what he leaves, and he is her heir if she dies childless. If there are two sisters they receive two-thirds of what he leaves. If there are brothers and sisters the males receive the share of two females. Allah makes things clear to you so you will not go astray. Allah has knowledge of all things.’
