87. Surah Al-A'la The Most High
Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem
In the name of Allah, All-Merciful, Most Merciful
1.
Sabbihi isma rabbika al-aAAla
Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High:
2.
Allathee khalaqa fasawwa
He who created and moulded;
3.
Wallathee qaddara fahada
He who determined and guided;
4.
Wallathee akhraja almarAAa
He who brings forth green pasture,
5.
FajaAAalahu ghuthaan ahwa
then makes it blackened stubble.
6.
Sanuqri-oka fala tansa
We will cause you to recite so that you do not forget –
7.
Illa ma shaa Allahuinnahu yaAAlamu aljahra wama yakhfa
except what Allah wills. He knows what is voiced out loud and what is hidden.
8.
Wanuyassiruka lilyusra
We will ease you to the Easy Way.
9.
Fathakkir in nafaAAati aththikra
Remind, then, if the reminder benefits.
10.
Sayaththakkaru man yakhsha
He who has fear will be reminded;
11.
Wayatajannabuha al-ashqa
but the most miserable will shun it,
12.
Allathee yasla annaraalkubra
those who will roast in the Greatest Fire
13.
Thumma la yamootu feeha walayahya
and then neither die nor live in it.
14.
Qad aflaha man tazakka
He who has purified himself will have success,
15.
Wathakara isma rabbihi fasalla
He who invokes the Name of his Lord and prays.
16.
Bal tu/thiroona alhayata addunya
Yet still you prefer the life of the dunya
17.
Wal-akhiratu khayrun waabqa
when the akhira is better and longer lasting.
18.
Inna hatha lafee assuhufial-oola
This is certainly in the earlier texts,
19.
Suhufi ibraheema wamoosa
the texts of Ibrahim and Musa.
