77. Surah Al-Mursalat The Emissaries
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem
In the name of Allah, All-Merciful, Most Merciful
1.
وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفاًۙ
Walmursalati AAurfa
By those sent forth in succession,
2.
فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفاًۙ
FalAAasifati AAasfa
by the violently gusting blasts,
3.
وَالنَّاشِرَاتِ نَشْراًۙ
Wannashirati nashra
by the scatterers scattering,
4.
فَالْفَارِقَاتِ فَرْقاًۙ
Falfariqati farqa
by the winnowers winnowing,
5.
فَالْمُلْقِيَاتِ ذِكْراًۙ
Falmulqiyati thikra
by those hurling a reminder,
6.
عُذْراً اَوْ نُذْراًۙ
AAuthran aw nuthra
excusing or warning,
7.
اِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَاقِعٌۜ
Innama tooAAadoona lawaqiAA
what you are promised will certainly happen.
8.
فَاِذَا النُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْۙ
Fa-itha annujoomu tumisat
When the stars are extinguished,
9.
وَاِذَا السَّمَٓاءُ فُرِجَتْۙ
Wa-itha assamao furijat
when heaven is split open,
10.
وَاِذَا الْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْۙ
Wa-itha aljibalu nusifat
when the mountains are pulverised,
11.
وَاِذَا الرُّسُلُ اُقِّتَتْۜ
Wa-itha arrusulu oqqitat
when the Messengers’ time is appointed –
12.
لِاَيِّ يَوْمٍ اُجِّلَتْۜ
Li-ayyi yawmin ojjilat
until what day is that deferred?
13.
لِيَوْمِ الْفَصْلِۚ
Liyawmi alfasl
Until the Day of Decision.
14.
وَمَٓا اَدْرٰيكَ مَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِۜ
Wama adraka ma yawmualfasl
And what will teach you what the Day of Decision is?
15.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّب۪ينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
On that Day, woe to the deniers!
16.
اَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ الْاَوَّل۪ينَۜ
Alam nuhliki al-awwaleen
Did We not destroy the earlier peoples,
17.
ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ الْاٰخِر۪ينَ
Thumma nutbiAAuhumu al-akhireen
then succeed them with later ones?
18.
كَذٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِم۪ينَ
Kathalika nafAAalu bilmujrimeen
That is how We deal with evildoers.
19.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّب۪ينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
On that Day, woe to the deniers!
20.
اَلَمْ نَخْلُقْكُمْ مِنْ مَٓاءٍ مَه۪ينٍۙ
Alam nakhluqkum min ma-in maheen
Did We not create you from a base fluid,
21.
فَجَعَلْنَاهُ ف۪ي قَرَارٍ مَك۪ينٍۙ
FajaAAalnahu fee qararinmakeen
then place it in a secure repository
22.
اِلٰى قَدَرٍ مَعْلُومٍۙ
Ila qadarin maAAloom
for a recognised term?
23.
فَقَدَرْنَاۗ فَنِعْمَ الْقَادِرُونَ
Faqadarna faniAAma alqadiroon
It is We who determine. What an excellent Determiner!
24.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّب۪ينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
On that Day, woe to the deniers!
25.
اَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْاَرْضَ كِفَاتاًۙ
Alam najAAali al-arda kifata
Did We not make the earth a receptacle
26.
اَحْيَٓاءً وَاَمْوَاتاًۙ
Ahyaan waamwata
for the living and the dead?
27.
وَجَعَلْنَا ف۪يهَا رَوَاسِيَ شَامِخَاتٍ وَاَسْقَيْنَاكُمْ مَٓاءً فُرَاتاًۜ
WajaAAalna feeha rawasiyashamikhatin waasqaynakum maan furata
Did We not place firmly embedded mountains in it, soaring high into the air, and give you sweet fresh water to drink?
28.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّب۪ينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
On that Day, woe to the deniers!
29.
اِنْطَلِقُٓوا اِلٰى مَا كُنْتُمْ بِه۪ تُكَذِّبُونَۚ
Intaliqoo ila ma kuntumbihi tukaththiboon
Proceed to that which you denied!
30.
اِنْطَلِقُٓوا اِلٰى ظِلٍّ ذ۪ي ثَلٰثِ شُعَبٍۙ
Intaliqoo ila thillinthee thalathi shuAAab
Proceed to a shadow which forks into three
31.
لَا ظَل۪يلٍ وَلَا يُغْن۪ي مِنَ اللَّهَبِۜ
La thaleelin walayughnee mina allahab
but gives no shade or protection from the flames,
32.
اِنَّهَا تَرْم۪ي بِشَرَرٍ كَالْقَصْرِۚ
Innaha tarmee bishararin kalqasr
shooting up great sparks the size of castles,
33.
كَاَنَّهُ جِمَالَتٌ صُفْرٌۜ
Kaannahu jimalatun sufr
like a herd of yellow camels.
34.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّب۪ينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
On that Day, woe to the deniers!
35.
هٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنْطِقُونَۙ
Hatha yawmu la yantiqoon
This is the Day they will not say a single word,
36.
وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ
Wala yu/thanu lahum fayaAAtathiroon
nor will they be allowed to offer any excuses.
37.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّب۪ينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
On that Day, woe to the deniers!
38.
هٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِۚ جَمَعْنَاكُمْ وَالْاَوَّل۪ينَ
Hatha yawmu alfasli jamaAAnakumwal-awwaleen
‘This is the Day of Decision. We have gathered you and the earlier peoples.
39.
فَاِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَك۪يدُونِ
Fa-in kana lakum kaydun fakeedoon
So if you have a ploy, use it against Me now!’
40.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّب۪ينَ۟
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
On that Day, woe to the deniers!
41.
اِنَّ الْمُتَّق۪ينَ ف۪ي ظِلَالٍ وَعُيُونٍۙ
Inna almuttaqeena fee thilalinwaAAuyoon
The people with taqwa will be amid shade and fountains
42.
وَفَوَاكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَۜ
Wafawakiha mimma yashtahoon
and have any fruits that they desire:
43.
كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَن۪ٓيـٔاً بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Kuloo washraboo hanee-an bimakuntum taAAmaloon
‘Eat and drink with relish for what you did.
44.
اِنَّا كَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِن۪ينَ
Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen
This is the way We reward good-doers. ’
45.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّب۪ينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
On that Day, woe to the deniers!
46.
كُلُوا وَتَمَتَّعُوا قَل۪يلاً اِنَّكُمْ مُجْرِمُونَ
Kuloo watamattaAAoo qaleelan innakummujrimoon
‘Eat and enjoy yourselves for a little while. You are evildoers.’
47.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّب۪ينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
On that Day, woe to the deniers!
48.
وَاِذَا ق۪يلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا لَا يَرْكَعُونَ
Wa-itha qeela lahumu irkaAAoo layarkaAAoon
When they are told to bow, they do not bow.
49.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّب۪ينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
On that Day, woe to the deniers!
50.
فَبِاَيِّ حَد۪يثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Fabi-ayyi hadeethin baAAdahuyu/minoon
In what discourse after this, then, will they have iman?
