76. Surah Al-Insan Man

  • بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ

    Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

    In the name of Allah, All-Merciful, Most Merciful

  • 1.

    هَلْ اَتٰى عَلَى الْاِنْسَانِ ح۪ينٌ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْـٔاً مَذْكُوراً

    Hal ata AAala al-insani heenunmina addahri lam yakun shay-an mathkoora

    Has man ever known a point of time when he was not something remembered?

  • 2.

    اِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ اَمْشَاجٍۗ نَبْتَل۪يهِ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ سَم۪يعاً بَص۪يراً

    Inna khalaqna al-insanamin nutfatin amshajin nabtaleehi fajaAAalnahusameeAAan baseera

    We created man from a mingled drop to test him, and We made him hearing and seeing.

  • 3.

    اِنَّا هَدَيْنَاهُ السَّب۪يلَ اِمَّا شَا‌كِراً وَاِمَّا كَفُوراً

    Inna hadaynahu assabeelaimma shakiran wa-imma kafoora

    We guided him on the Way, whether he is thankful or unthankful.

  • 4.

    اِنَّٓا اَعْتَدْنَا لِلْـكَافِر۪ينَ سَلَاسِلَا۬ وَاَغْلَالاً وَسَع۪يراً

    Inna aAAtadna lilkafireenasalasila waaghlalan wasaAAeera

    We have made ready for the kafirun shackles and chains and a Searing Blaze.

  • 5.

    اِنَّ الْاَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِنْ كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُوراًۚ

    Inna al-abrara yashraboona min ka/sinkana mizajuha kafoora

    The truly good will drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of camphor,

  • 6.

    عَيْناً يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ اللّٰهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْج۪يراً

    AAaynan yashrabu biha AAibaduAllahi yufajjiroonaha tafjeera

    a spring from which Allah’s slaves will drink, making it gush forth at will abundantly.

  • 7.

    يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْماً كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَط۪يراً

    Yoofoona binnathri wayakhafoonayawman kana sharruhu mustateera

    They fulfil their vows and fear a Day whose evil will spread far and wide.

  • 8.

    وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلٰى حُبِّه۪ مِسْك۪يناً وَيَت۪يماً وَاَس۪يراً

    WayutAAimona attaAAamaAAala hubbihi miskeenan wayateeman waaseera

    They give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives:

  • 9.

    اِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللّٰهِ لَا نُر۪يدُ مِنْكُمْ جَزَٓاءً وَلَا شُكُوراً

    Innama nutAAimukum liwajhi Allahila nureedu minkum jazaan wala shukoora

    ‘We feed you only out of desire for the Face of Allah. We do not want any repayment from you or any thanks.

  • 10.

    اِنَّا نَخَافُ مِنْ رَبِّنَا يَوْماً عَبُوساً قَمْطَر۪يراً

    Inna nakhafu min rabbinayawman AAaboosan qamtareera

    Truly We fear from our Lord a glowering, calamitous Day. ’

  • 11.

    فَوَقٰيهُمُ اللّٰهُ شَرَّ ذٰلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلَقّٰيهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُوراًۚ

    Fawaqahumu Allahu sharra thalikaalyawmi walaqqahum nadratan wasuroora

    So Allah has safeguarded them from the evil of that Day and has made them meet with radiance and pure joy.

  • 12.

    وَجَزٰيهُمْ بِمَا صَبَرُوا جَنَّةً وَحَر۪يراًۙ

    Wajazahum bima sabaroojannatan wahareera

    and will reward them for their steadfastness with a Garden and with silk.

  • 13.

    مُتَّكِـ۪ٔينَ ف۪يهَا عَلَى الْاَرَٓائِكِۚ لَا يَرَوْنَ ف۪يهَا شَمْساً وَلَا زَمْهَر۪يراًۚ

    Muttaki-eena feeha AAala al-ara-ikila yarawna feeha shamsan wala zamhareera

    Reclining in it on couches, they will experience there neither burning sun nor bitter cold.

  • 14.

    وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَالُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْل۪يلاً

    Wadaniyatan AAalayhim thilaluhawathullilat qutoofuha tathleela

    Its shading branches will droop down over them, its ripe fruit hanging ready to be picked.

  • 15.

    وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِاٰنِيَةٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَاَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَار۪يرَاۙ

    Wayutafu AAalayhim bi-aniyatinmin fiddatin waakwabin kanat qawareera

    Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them,

  • 16.

    قَوَار۪يرَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْد۪يراً

    Qawareera min fiddatinqaddarooha taqdeera

    crystalline silver – they have measured them very exactly.

  • 17.

    وَيُسْقَوْنَ ف۪يهَا كَأْساً كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنْجَب۪يلاًۚ

    Wayusqawna feeha ka/san kanamizajuha zanjabeela

    They will be given there a cup to drink mixed with the warmth of ginger.

  • 18.

    عَيْناً ف۪يهَا تُسَمّٰى سَلْسَب۪يلاً

    AAaynan feeha tusammasalsabeela

    In it there is a flowing spring called Salsabil.

  • 19.

    وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُخَلَّدُونَۚ اِذَا رَاَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤ۬اً مَنْثُوراً

    Wayatoofu AAalayhim wildanunmukhalladoona itha raaytahum hasibtahum lu/lu-anmanthoora

    Ageless youths will circulate among them, serving them. Seeing them, you would think them scattered pearls.

  • 20.

    وَاِذَا رَاَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَاَيْتَ نَع۪يماً وَمُلْـكاً كَب۪يراً

    Wa-itha raayta thamma raaytanaAAeeman wamulkan kabeera

    Seeing them, you see delight and a great kingdom.

  • 21.

    عَالِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُنْدُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَاِسْتَبْرَقٌۘ وَحُلُّٓوا اَسَاوِرَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍۚ وَسَقٰيهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَاباً طَهُوراً

    AAaliyahum thiyabu sundusinkhudrun wa-istabraqun wahulloo asawira minfiddatin wasaqahum rabbuhum sharaban tahoora

    They will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure draught to drink.

  • 22.

    اِنَّ هٰذَا كَانَ لَـكُمْ جَزَٓاءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُمْ مَشْكُوراً۟

    Inna hatha kana lakum jazaanwakana saAAyukum mashkoora

    ‘This is your reward. Your striving is fully acknowledged.’

  • 23.

    اِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْاٰنَ تَنْز۪يلاًۚ

    Inna nahnu nazzalnaAAalayka alqur-ana tanzeela

    It is We who have sent the Qur’an down to you little by little.

  • 24.

    فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ اٰثِماً اَوْ كَفُوراًۚ

    Fasbir lihukmi rabbikawala tutiAA minhum athiman aw kafoora

    Therefore wait patiently for the judgement of your Lord. Do not obey any evildoer or thankless man among them.

  • 25.

    وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَاَص۪يلاًۚ

    Wathkuri isma rabbikabukratan waaseela

    Remember the Name of your Lord in the morning and the evening.

  • 26.

    وَمِنَ الَّيْلِ فَاسْجُدْ لَهُ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلاً طَو۪يلاً

    Wamina allayli fasjud lahu wasabbihhulaylan taweela

    Prostrate to Him during the night and glorify Him throughout the long night.

  • 27.

    اِنَّ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ يُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَٓاءَهُمْ يَوْماً ثَق۪يلاً

    Inna haola-i yuhibboonaalAAajilata wayatharoona waraahum yawmanthaqeela

    These people love this fleeting world and have put the thought of a Momentous Day behind their backs.

  • 28.

    نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَٓا اَسْرَهُمْۚ وَاِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْـنَٓا اَمْثَالَهُمْ تَبْد۪يلاً

    Nahnu khalaqnahum washadadnaasrahum wa-itha shi/na baddalna amthalahumtabdeela

    We created them and made their joints strong, and if We wish We can replace them with others like them.

  • 29.

    اِنَّ هٰذِه۪ تَذْكِرَةٌۚ فَمَنْ شَٓاءَ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰى رَبِّه۪ سَب۪يلاً

    Inna hathihi tathkiratun famanshaa ittakhatha ila rabbihi sabeela

    This truly is a Reminder, so whoever wills should take the Way towards his Lord.

  • 30.

    وَمَا تَشَٓاؤُ۫نَ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يَشَٓاءَ اللّٰهُۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماًۗ

    Wama tashaoona illa anyashaa Allahu inna Allaha kanaAAaleeman hakeema

    But you will not will unless Allah wills. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

  • 31.

    يُدْخِلُ مَنْ يَشَٓاءُ ف۪ي رَحْمَتِه۪ۜ وَالظَّالِم۪ينَ اَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَاباً اَل۪يماً

    Yudkhilu man yashao fee rahmatihiwaththalimeena aAAadda lahum AAathabanaleema

    He admits whoever He wills into His mercy. But He has prepared a painful punishment for the wrongdoers
