  • بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ

    Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

    In the name of Allah, All-Merciful, Most Merciful

  • 1.

    كٓـهٰيٰعٓصٓۜ

    Kaf-ha-ya-AAayn-sad

    Kaf Ha Ya ‘Ayn Sad

  • 2.

    ذِكْرُ رَحْمَتِ رَبِّكَ عَبْدَهُ زَكَرِيَّاۚ

    Thikru rahmati rabbika AAabdahuzakariyya

    Remembering your Lord’s mercy to His slave Zakariyya,

  • 3.

    اِذْ نَادٰى رَبَّهُ نِدَٓاءً خَفِياًّ

    Ith nada rabbahu nidaankhafiyya

    when he called on his Lord in secret

  • 4.

    قَالَ رَبِّ اِنّ۪ي وَهَنَ الْعَظْمُ مِنّ۪ي وَاشْتَعَلَ الرَّأْسُ شَيْباً وَلَمْ اَكُنْ بِدُعَٓائِكَ رَبِّ شَقِياًّ

    Qala rabbi innee wahana alAAathmuminnee washtaAAala arra/su shayban walam akunbiduAAa-ika rabbi shaqiyya

    and said, ‘My Lord, my bones have lost their strength and my head is crowned with white, but in calling on You, My Lord, I have never been disappointed.

  • 5.

    وَاِنّ۪ي خِفْتُ الْمَوَالِيَ مِنْ وَرَٓاء۪ي وَكَانَتِ امْرَاَت۪ي عَاقِراً فَهَبْ ل۪ي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ وَلِياًّۚ

    Wa-innee khiftu almawaliya min wara-eewakanati imraatee AAaqiran fahab lee min ladunkawaliyya

    I fear my relatives when I am gone and my wife is barren, so give me an heir from You

  • 6.

    يَرِثُن۪ي وَيَرِثُ مِنْ اٰلِ يَعْقُوبَۗ وَاجْعَلْهُ رَبِّ رَضِياًّ

    Yarithunee wayarithu min ali yaAAqoobawajAAalhu rabbi radiyya

    to be my inheritor and the inheritor of the family of Ya‘qub, and make him, my Lord, pleasing to You. ’

  • 7.

    يَا زَكَرِيَّٓا اِنَّـا نُـبَشِّرُكَ بِغُـلَامٍۨ اسْـمُهُ يَحْيٰىۙ لَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ سَمِياًّ

    Ya zakariyya innanubashshiruka bighulamin ismuhu yahya lamnajAAal lahu min qablu samiyya

    ‘Zakariyya! We give you the good news of a boy named Yahya, a name We have given to no one else before. ’

  • 8.

    قَالَ رَبِّ اَنّٰى يَكُونُ ل۪ي غُلَامٌ وَكَانَتِ امْرَاَت۪ي عَاقِراً وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ الْكِبَرِ عِتِياًّ

    Qala rabbi anna yakoonu leeghulamun wakanati imraatee AAaqiran waqadbalaghtu mina alkibari AAitiyya

    He said, ‘My Lord! How can I have a boy when my wife is barren and I have reached advanced old age?’

  • 9.

    قَالَ كَذٰلِكَۚ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٌ وَقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَلَمْ تَكُ شَيْـٔاً

    Qala kathalika qalarabbuka huwa AAalayya hayyinun waqad khalaqtuka min qablu walamtaku shay-a

    He said, ‘It will be so! Your Lord says, "That is easy for Me to do. I created you before, when you were not anything."’

  • 10.

    قَالَ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ ل۪ٓي اٰيَةًۜ قَالَ اٰيَتُكَ اَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ النَّاسَ ثَلٰثَ لَيَالٍ سَوِياًّ

    Qala rabbi ijAAal lee ayatan qalaayatuka alla tukallima annasa thalathalayalin sawiyya

    He said, ‘My Lord, give me a Sign. ‘ He said, ‘Your Sign is not to speak to people for three nights despite the fact that you are perfectly able to.’

  • 11.

    فَخَرَجَ عَلٰى قَوْمِه۪ مِنَ الْمِحْرَابِ فَاَوْحٰٓى اِلَيْهِمْ اَنْ سَبِّحُوا بُكْرَةً وَعَشِياًّ

    Fakharaja AAala qawmihi mina almihrabifaawha ilayhim an sabbihoo bukratan waAAashiyya

    He came out to his people from the Upper Room and gestured to them to glorify Allah in the morning and the evening.

  • 12.

    يَا يَحْيٰى خُذِ الْكِتَابَ بِقُوَّةٍۜ وَاٰتَيْنَاهُ الْحُكْمَ صَبِياًّۙ

    Ya yahya khuthialkitaba biquwwatin waataynahu alhukmasabiyya

    ‘Yahya, take hold of the Book with vigour. ’ We gave him judgement while still a child,

  • 13.

    وَحَنَاناً مِنْ لَدُنَّا وَزَكٰوةًۜ وَكَانَ تَقِياًّۙ

    Wahananan min ladunnawazakatan wakana taqiyya

    and tenderness and purity from Us – he had taqwa –

  • 14.

    وَبَراًّ بِوَالِدَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ جَبَّاراً عَصِياًّ

    Wabarran biwalidayhi walam yakun jabbaranAAasiyya

    and devotion to his parents – he was not insolent or disobedient.

  • 15.

    وَسَلَامٌ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَ وُلِدَ وَيَوْمَ يَمُوتُ وَيَوْمَ يُبْعَثُ حَياًّ۟

    Wasalamun AAalayhi yawma wulidawayawma yamootu wayawma yubAAathu hayya

    Peace be upon him the day he was born, and the day he dies, and the day he is raised up again alive.

  • 16.

    وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ مَرْيَمَۢ اِذِ انْتَبَذَتْ مِنْ اَهْلِهَا مَكَاناً شَرْقِياًّۙ

    Wathkur fee alkitabimaryama ithi intabathat min ahliha makanansharqiyya

    Mention Maryam in the Book, how she withdrew from her people to an eastern place,

  • 17.

    فَاتَّخَذَتْ مِنْ دُونِهِمْ حِجَاباً فَاَرْسَلْـنَٓا اِلَيْهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَراً سَوِياًّ

    Fattakhathat min doonihim hijabanfaarsalna ilayha roohanafatamaththala laha basharan sawiyya

    and veiled herself from them. Then We sent Our Ruh to her and it took on for her the form of a handsome, well-built man.

  • 18.

    قَالَتْ اِنّ۪ٓي اَعُوذُ بِالرَّحْمٰنِ مِنْكَ اِنْ كُنْتَ تَقِياًّ

    Qalat innee aAAoothu birrahmaniminka in kunta taqiyya

    She said, ‘I seek refuge from you with the All-Merciful if you have taqwa. ’

  • 19.

    قَالَ اِنَّـمَٓا اَنَا۬ رَسُولُ رَبِّكِۗ لِاَهَبَ لَكِ غُلَاماً زَكِياًّ

    Qala innama ana rasoolurabbiki li-ahaba laki ghulaman zakiyya

    He said, ‘I am only your Lord’s messenger so that He can give you a pure boy. ’

  • 20.

    قَالَتْ اَنّٰى يَكُونُ ل۪ي غُلَامٌ وَلَمْ يَمْسَسْن۪ي بَشَرٌ وَلَمْ اَكُ بَغِياًّ

    Qalat anna yakoonu lee ghulamunwalam yamsasnee basharun walam aku baghiyya

    She said, ‘How can I have a boy when no man has touched me and I am not an unchaste woman?’

  • 21.

    قَالَ كَذٰلِكِۚ قَالَ رَبُّكِ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٌۚ وَلِنَجْعَلَـهُٓ اٰيَةً لِلنَّاسِ وَرَحْمَةً مِنَّاۚ وَكَانَ اَمْراً مَقْضِياًّ

    Qala kathaliki qalarabbuki huwa AAalayya hayyinun walinajAAalahu ayatan linnasiwarahmatan minna wakana amran maqdiyya

    He said, ‘It will be so! Your Lord says, "That is easy for Me. It is so that We can make him a Sign for mankind and a mercy from Us." It is a matter already decreed.’

  • 22.

    فَحَمَلَتْهُ فَانْتَبَذَتْ بِه۪ مَكَاناً قَصِياًّ

    Fahamalat-hu fantabathatbihi makanan qasiyya

    So she conceived him and withdrew with him to a distant place.

  • 23.

    فَاَجَٓاءَهَا الْمَخَاضُ اِلٰى جِذْعِ النَّخْلَةِۚ قَالَتْ يَا لَيْتَن۪ي مِتُّ قَبْلَ هٰذَا وَكُنْتُ نَسْياً مَنْسِياًّ

    Faajaaha almakhadu ilajithAAi annakhlati qalat ya laytaneemittu qabla hatha wakuntu nasyan mansiyya

    The pains of labour drove her to the trunk of a date-palm. She said, ‘Oh if only I had died before this time and was something discarded and forgotten!’

  • 24.

    فَنَادٰيهَا مِنْ تَحْتِهَٓا اَلَّا تَحْزَن۪ي قَدْ جَعَلَ رَبُّكِ تَحْتَكِ سَرِياًّ

    Fanadaha min tahtihaalla tahzanee qad jaAAala rabbuki tahtakisariyya

    A voice called out to her from under her, ‘Do not grieve! Your Lord has placed a small stream at your feet.

  • 25.

    وَهُزّ۪ٓي اِلَيْكِ بِجِذْعِ النَّخْلَةِ تُسَاقِطْ عَلَيْكِ رُطَباً جَنِياًّۘ

    Wahuzzee ilayki bijithAAi annakhlatitusaqit AAalayki rutaban janiyya

    Shake the trunk of the palm towards you and fresh, ripe dates will drop down onto you.

  • 26.

    فَكُل۪ي وَاشْرَب۪ي وَقَرّ۪ي عَيْناًۚ فَاِمَّا تَرَيِنَّ مِنَ الْبَشَرِ اَحَداًۙ فَقُول۪ٓي اِنّ۪ي نَذَرْتُ لِلرَّحْمٰنِ صَوْماً فَلَنْ اُكَلِّمَ الْيَوْمَ اِنْسِياًّۚ

    Fakulee washrabee waqarree AAaynanfa-imma tarayinna mina albashari ahadan faqooleeinnee nathartu lirrahmani sawmanfalan okallima alyawma insiyya

    Eat and drink and delight your eyes. If you should see anyone at all, just say, "I have made a vow of abstinence to the All-Merciful and today I will not speak to any human being."’

  • 27.

    فَاَتَتْ بِه۪ قَوْمَهَا تَحْمِلُهُۜ قَالُوا يَا مَرْيَمُ لَقَدْ جِئْتِ شَيْـٔاً فَرِياًّ

    Faatat bihi qawmaha tahmiluhuqaloo ya maryamu laqad ji/ti shay-an fariyya

    She brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, ‘Maryam! You have done an unthinkable thing!

  • 28.

    يَٓا اُخْتَ هٰرُونَ مَا كَانَ اَبُوكِ امْرَاَ سَوْءٍ وَمَا كَانَتْ اُمُّكِ بَغِياًّۚ

    Ya okhta haroona ma kanaabooki imraa saw-in wama kanat ommuki baghiyya

    Sister of Harun, your father was not an evil man nor was your mother an unchaste woman!’

  • 29.

    فَاَشَارَتْ اِلَيْهِ۠ قَالُوا كَيْفَ نُكَلِّمُ مَنْ كَانَ فِي الْمَهْدِ صَبِياًّ

    Faasharat ilayhi qaloo kayfanukallimu man kana fee almahdi sabiyya

    She pointed towards him. They said, ‘How can a baby in the cradle speak?’

  • 30.

    قَالَ اِنّ۪ي عَبْدُ اللّٰهِ۠ اٰتَانِيَ الْكِتَابَ وَجَعَلَن۪ي نَبِياًّۙ

    Qala innee AAabdu Allahi ataniyaalkitaba wajaAAalanee nabiyya

    He said, ‘I am the slave of Allah, He has given me the Book and made me a Prophet.

  • 31.

    وَجَعَلَن۪ي مُبَارَكاً اَيْنَ مَا كُنْتُۖ وَاَوْصَان۪ي بِالصَّلٰوةِ وَالزَّكٰوةِ مَا دُمْتُ حَياًّۖ

    WajaAAalanee mubarakan aynamakuntu waawsanee bissalati wazzakatima dumtu hayya

    He has made me blessed wherever I am and directed me to do salat and give zakat as long as I live,

  • 32.

    وَبَراًّ بِوَالِدَت۪يۘ وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْن۪ي جَبَّاراً شَقِياًّ

    Wabarran biwalidatee walam yajAAalneejabbaran shaqiyya

    and to show devotion to my mother. He has not made me insolent or arrogant.

  • 33.

    وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَيَّ يَوْمَ وُلِدْتُ وَيَوْمَ اَمُوتُ وَيَوْمَ اُبْعَثُ حَياًّ

    Wassalamu AAalayya yawmawulidtu wayawma amootu wayawma obAAathu hayya

    Peace be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die and the day I am raised up again alive. ’

  • 34.

    ذٰلِكَ ع۪يسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَۚ قَوْلَ الْحَقِّ الَّذ۪ي ف۪يهِ يَمْتَرُونَ

    Thalika AAeesa ibnu maryamaqawla alhaqqi allathee feehi yamtaroon

    That is ‘Isa, son of Maryam, the word of truth about which they are in doubt.

  • 35.

    مَا كَانَ لِلّٰهِ اَنْ يَتَّخِذَ مِنْ وَلَدٍۙ سُبْحَانَهُۜ اِذَا قَضٰٓى اَمْراً فَاِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُۜ

    Ma kana lillahi anyattakhitha min waladin subhanahu itha qadaamran fa-innama yaqoolu lahu kun fayakoon

    It is not fitting for Allah to have a son. Glory be to Him! When He decides on something, He just says to it, ‘Be!’ and it is.

  • 36.

    وَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ رَبّ۪ي وَرَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُوهُۜ هٰذَا صِرَاطٌ مُسْتَق۪يمٌ

    Wa-inna Allaha rabbee warabbukum faAAbudoohuhatha siratun mustaqeem

    ‘Allah is my Lord and your Lord so worship Him. This is a straight path.’

  • 37.

    فَاخْتَلَفَ الْاَحْزَابُ مِنْ بَيْنِهِمْۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ مَشْهَدِ يَوْمٍ عَظ۪يمٍ

    Fakhtalafa al-ahzabumin baynihim fawaylun lillatheena kafaroo min mashhadiyawmin AAatheem

    The parties differed among themselves. Woe to those who are kafir when they are present on a terrible Day!

  • 38.

    اَسْمِعْ بِهِمْ وَاَبْصِرْۙ يَوْمَ يَأْتُونَنَاۚ لٰكِنِ الظَّالِمُونَ الْيَوْمَ ف۪ي ضَلَالٍ مُب۪ينٍ

    AsmiAA bihim waabsir yawma ya/toonanalakini aththalimoona alyawmafee dalalin mubeen

    How clear will be their hearing, how perfect their sight, on the Day they come to Us; whereas today the wrongdoers are clearly misguided.

  • 39.

    وَاَنْذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ الْحَسْرَةِ اِذْ قُضِيَ الْاَمْرُۚ وَهُمْ ف۪ي غَفْلَةٍ وَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

    Waanthirhum yawma alhasrati ithqudiya al-amru wahum fee ghaflatin wahum layu/minoon

    Warn them of the Day of Bitter Regret when the affair will be resolved. But they take no notice. They have no iman.

  • 40.

    اِنَّا نَحْنُ نَرِثُ الْاَرْضَ وَمَنْ عَلَيْهَا وَاِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُونَ۟

    Inna nahnu narithu al-ardawaman AAalayha wa-ilayna yurjaAAoon

    It is We who will inherit the earth and all those on it. They will be returned to Us.

  • 41.

    وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ اِبْرٰه۪يمَۜ اِنَّهُ كَانَ صِدّ۪يقاً نَبِياًّ

    Wathkur fee alkitabiibraheema innahu kana siddeeqan nabiyya

    Mention Ibrahim in the Book. He was a true man and a Prophet.

  • 42.

    اِذْ قَالَ لِاَب۪يهِ يَٓا اَبَتِ لِمَ تَعْبُدُ مَا لَا يَسْمَعُ وَلَا يُبْصِرُ وَلَا يُغْن۪ي عَنْكَ شَيْـٔاً

    Ith qala li-abeehi yaabati lima taAAbudu ma la yasmaAAu wala yubsiruwala yughnee AAanka shay-a

    Remember when he said to his father, ‘Father, why do you worship what can neither hear nor see and is not of any use to you at all?

  • 43.

    يَٓا اَبَتِ اِنّ۪ي قَدْ جَٓاءَن۪ي مِنَ الْعِلْمِ مَا لَمْ يَأْتِكَ فَاتَّبِعْن۪ٓي اَهْدِكَ صِرَاطاً سَوِياًّ

    Ya abati innee qad jaanee minaalAAilmi ma lam ya/tika fattabiAAnee ahdika siratansawiyya

    Father, knowledge which never reached you has come to me, so follow me and I will guide you to the right path.

  • 44.

    يَٓا اَبَتِ لَا تَعْبُدِ الشَّيْطَانَۜ اِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ كَانَ لِلرَّحْمٰنِ عَصِياًّ

    Ya abati la taAAbudi ashshaytanainna ashshaytana kana lirrahmaniAAasiyya

    Father, do not worship Shaytan. Shaytan was disobedient to the All-Merciful.

  • 45.

    يَٓا اَبَتِ اِنّ۪ٓي اَخَافُ اَنْ يَمَسَّكَ عَذَابٌ مِنَ الرَّحْمٰنِ فَتَكُونَ لِلشَّيْطَانِ وَلِياًّ

    Ya abati innee akhafu anyamassaka AAathabun mina arrahmanifatakoona lishshyatani waliyya

    Father, I am afraid that a punishment from the All-Merciful will afflict you, and turn you into a comrade of Shaytan. ’

  • 46.

    قَالَ اَرَاغِبٌ اَنْتَ عَنْ اٰلِهَت۪ي يَٓا اِبْرٰه۪يمُۚ لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهِ۬ لَاَرْجُمَنَّكَ وَاهْجُرْن۪ي مَلِياًّ

    Qala araghibun anta AAan alihateeya ibraheemu la-in lam tantahi laarjumannaka wahjurneemaliyya

    He said, ‘Do you forsake my gods, Ibrahim? If you do not stop, I will stone you. Keep away from me for a good long time.’

  • 47.

    قَالَ سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكَۚ سَاَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكَ رَبّ۪يۜ اِنَّهُ كَانَ ب۪ي حَفِياًّ

    Qala salamun AAalaykasaastaghfiru laka rabbee innahu kana bee hafiyya

    He said, ‘Peace be upon you. I will ask my Lord to forgive you. He has always honoured me.

  • 48.

    وَاَعْتَزِلُكُمْ وَمَا تَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ وَاَدْعُوا رَبّ۪يۘ عَسٰٓى اَلَّٓا اَكُونَ بِدُعَٓاءِ رَبّ۪ي شَقِياًّ

    WaaAAtazilukum wama tadAAoona mindooni Allahi waadAAoo rabbee AAasa allaakoona biduAAa-i rabbee shaqiyya

    I will separate myself from you and all you call upon besides Allah and I will call upon my Lord. It may well be that, in calling on my Lord, I will not be disappointed.’

  • 49.

    فَلَمَّا اعْتَزَلَهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِۙ وَهَبْنَا لَـهُٓ اِسْحٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَۜ وَكُلاًّ جَعَلْنَا نَبِياًّ

    Falamma iAAtazalahum wamayaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi wahabna lahu ishaqawayaAAqooba wakullan jaAAalna nabiyya

    When he had separated himself from them, and what they worshipped besides Allah, We gave him Ishaq and Ya‘qub, making each of them a Prophet.

  • 50.

    وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُمْ مِنْ رَحْمَتِنَا وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ عَلِياًّ۟

    Wawahabna lahum min rahmatinawajaAAalna lahum lisana sidqin AAaliyya

    We endowed them with Our mercy and made them highly honoured.

  • 51.

    وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ مُوسٰىۘ اِنَّهُ كَانَ مُخْلَصاً وَكَانَ رَسُولاً نَبِياًّ

    Wathkur fee alkitabimoosa innahu kana mukhlasan wakanarasoolan nabiyya

    Mention Musa in the Book. He was truly sincere and was a Messenger and a Prophet.

  • 52.

    وَنَادَيْنَاهُ مِنْ جَانِبِ الطُّورِ الْاَيْمَنِ وَقَرَّبْنَاهُ نَجِياًّ

    Wanadaynahu min janibiattoori al-aymani waqarrabnahu najiyya

    We called out to him from the right hand side of the Mount and We brought him near in close communication.

  • 53.

    وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُ مِنْ رَحْمَتِنَٓا اَخَاهُ هٰرُونَ نَبِياًّ

    Wawahabna lahu min rahmatinaakhahu haroona nabiyya

    We endowed him with Our mercy, making his brother Harun a Prophet.

  • 54.

    وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ اِسْمٰع۪يلَۘ اِنَّهُ كَانَ صَادِقَ الْوَعْدِ وَكَانَ رَسُولاً نَبِياًّۚ

    Wathkur fee alkitabiismaAAeela innahu kana sadiqa alwaAAdi wakanarasoolan nabiyya

    Mention Isma‘il in the Book. He was true to his promise and was a Messenger and a Prophet.

  • 55.

    وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ اَهْلَهُ بِالصَّلٰوةِ وَالزَّكٰوةِۖ وَكَانَ عِنْدَ رَبِّه۪ مَرْضِياًّ

    Wakana ya/muru ahlahu bissalatiwazzakati wakana AAinda rabbihi mardiyya

    He used to command his people to do salat and give zakat and he was pleasing to his Lord.

  • 56.

    وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ اِدْر۪يسَۘ اِنَّهُ كَانَ صِدّ۪يقاً نَبِياًّۗ

    Wathkur fee alkitabiidreesa innahu kana siddeeqan nabiyya

    Mention Idris in the Book. He was a true man and a Prophet.

  • 57.

    وَرَفَعْنَاهُ مَكَاناً عَلِياًّ

    WarafaAAnahu makanan AAaliyya

    We raised him up to a high place.

  • 58.

    اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ الَّذ۪ينَ اَنْعَمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ النَّبِيّ۪نَ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّةِ اٰدَمَ وَمِمَّنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍۘ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّةِ اِبْرٰه۪يمَ وَاِسْرَٓائ۪لَ وَمِمَّنْ هَدَيْنَا وَاجْتَبَيْنَاۜ اِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِمْ اٰيَاتُ الرَّحْمٰنِ خَرُّوا سُجَّداً وَبُكِياًّ

    Ola-ika allatheena anAAama AllahuAAalayhim mina annabiyyeena min thurriyyati adamawamimman hamalna maAAa noohin wamin thurriyyatiibraheema wa-isra-eela wamimman hadayna wajtabaynaitha tutla AAalayhim ayatu arrahmanikharroo sujjadan wabukiyya

    Those are some of the Prophets Allah has blessed, from the descendants of Adam and from those We carried with Nuh, and from the descendants of Ibrahim and Isra’il and from those We guided and chose. When the Signs of the All-Merciful were recited to them they fell on their faces, weeping, in prostration.

  • 59.

    فَخَلَفَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ اَضَاعُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاتَّبَعُوا الشَّهَوَاتِ فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَياًّۙ

    Fakhalafa min baAAdihim khalfun adaAAooassalata wattabaAAoo ashshahawatifasawfa yalqawna ghayya

    An evil generation succeeded them who neglected the salat and followed their appetites. They will plunge into the Valley of Evil –

  • 60.

    اِلَّا مَنْ تَابَ وَاٰمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحاً فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ شَيْـٔاًۙ

    Illa man taba waamanawaAAamila salihan faola-ika yadkhuloonaaljannata wala yuthlamoona shay-a

    except for those who make tawba and have iman and act rightly. They will enter the Garden and they will not be wronged in any way:

  • 61.

    جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍۨ الَّت۪ي وَعَدَ الرَّحْمٰنُ عِبَادَهُ بِالْغَيْبِۜ اِنَّهُ كَانَ وَعْدُهُ مَأْتِياًّ

    Jannati AAadnin allatee waAAada arrahmanuAAibadahu bighaybi innahu kana waAAduhuma/tiyya

    Gardens of Eden which the All-Merciful has promised to His slaves in the Unseen. His promise is always kept.

  • 62.

    لَا يَسْمَعُونَ ف۪يهَا لَغْواً اِلَّا سَلَاماًۜ وَلَهُمْ رِزْقُهُمْ ف۪يهَا بُكْرَةً وَعَشِياًّ

    La yasmaAAoona feeha laghwanilla salaman walahum rizquhum feeha bukratanwaAAashiyya

    They will not hear any prattling there – nothing but ‘Peace’. They will receive their provision there morning and night.

  • 63.

    تِلْكَ الْجَنَّةُ الَّت۪ي نُورِثُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا مَنْ كَانَ تَقِياًّ

    Tilka aljannatu allatee noorithu min AAibadinaman kana taqiyya

    That is the Garden which We will bequeath to those of Our slaves who have taqwa.

  • 64.

    وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ اِلَّا بِاَمْرِ رَبِّكَۚ لَهُ مَا بَيْنَ اَيْد۪ينَا وَمَا خَلْفَنَا وَمَا بَيْنَ ذٰلِكَۚ وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِياًّۚ

    Wama natanazzalu illa bi-amrirabbika lahu ma bayna aydeena wama khalfanawama bayna thalika wama kana rabbukanasiyya

    ‘We only descend at your Lord's command. Everything in front of us, and everything behind us, and everything in between belongs to Him. Your Lord does not forget.’

  • 65.

    رَبُّ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فَاعْبُدْهُ وَاصْطَبِرْ لِعِبَادَتِه۪ۜ هَلْ تَعْلَمُ لَهُ سَمِياًّ۟

    Rabbu assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma faAAbudhu wastabirliAAibadatihi hal taAAlamu lahu samiyya

    He is Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything in between them, so worship Him and persevere in His worship. Do you know of any other with His Name?

  • 66.

    وَيَقُولُ الْاِنْسَانُ ءَاِذَا مَا مِتُّ لَسَوْفَ اُخْرَجُ حَياًّ

    Wayaqoolu al-insanu a-itha mamittu lasawfa okhraju hayya

    Man says, ‘When I am dead, will I then be brought out again alive?’

  • 67.

    اَوَلَا يَذْكُرُ الْاِنْسَانُ اَنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَلَمْ يَكُ شَيْـٔاً

    Awa la yathkuru al-insanuanna khalaqnahu min qablu walam yaku shay-a

    Does not man recall that We created him before when he was not anything?

  • 68.

    فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَحْشُرَنَّهُمْ وَالشَّيَاط۪ينَ ثُمَّ لَنُحْضِرَنَّهُمْ حَوْلَ جَهَنَّمَ جِثِياًّۚ

    Fawarabbika lanahshurannahum washshayateenathumma lanuhdirannahum hawla jahannama jithiyya

    By your Lord, We will collect them and the shaytans together. Then We will assemble them around Hell on their knees.

  • 69.

    ثُمَّ لَنَنْزِعَنَّ مِنْ كُلِّ ش۪يعَةٍ اَيُّهُمْ اَشَدُّ عَلَى الرَّحْمٰنِ عِتِياًّۚ

    Thumma lananziAAanna min kulli sheeAAatinayyuhum ashaddu AAala arrahmaniAAitiyya

    Then We will drag out from every sect the one among them most insolent towards the All-Merciful.

  • 70.

    ثُمَّ لَنَحْنُ اَعْلَمُ بِالَّذ۪ينَ هُمْ اَوْلٰى بِهَا صِلِياًّ

    Thumma lanahnu aAAlamu billatheenahum awla biha siliyya

    Then it is We who will know best those most deserving to roast in it.

  • 71.

    وَاِنْ مِنْكُمْ اِلَّا وَارِدُهَاۚ كَانَ عَلٰى رَبِّكَ حَتْماً مَقْضِياًّۚ

    Wa-in minkum illa wariduhakana AAala rabbika hatman maqdiyya

    There is not one of you who will not come to it. That is the final decision of your Lord.

  • 72.

    ثُمَّ نُنَجِّي الَّذ۪ينَ اتَّقَوْا وَنَذَرُ الظَّالِم۪ينَ ف۪يهَا جِثِياًّ

    Thumma nunajjee allatheena ittaqawwanatharu aththalimeena feehajithiyya

    Then We will rescue those who had taqwa and We will leave the wrongdoers in it on their knees.

  • 73.

    وَاِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِمْ اٰيَاتُنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ قَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓواۙ اَيُّ الْفَر۪يقَيْنِ خَيْرٌ مَقَاماً وَاَحْسَنُ نَدِياًّ

    Wa-itha tutla AAalayhim ayatunabayyinatin qala allatheena kafaroo lillatheenaamanoo ayyu alfareeqayni khayrun maqaman waahsanunadiyya

    When Our Clear Signs are recited to them, those who are kafir say to those who have iman, ‘Which of the two parties has the better position and the more illustrious gathering?’

  • 74.

    وَكَمْ اَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنْ قَرْنٍ هُمْ اَحْسَنُ اَثَاثاً وَرِءْياً

    Wakam ahlakna qablahum min qarnin humahsanu athathan wari/ya

    How many generations We have destroyed before them who had finer furnishings and a better outward show!

  • 75.

    قُلْ مَنْ كَانَ فِي الضَّلَالَةِ فَلْيَمْدُدْ لَهُ الرَّحْمٰنُ مَداًّۚ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا رَاَوْا مَا يُوعَدُونَ اِمَّا الْعَذَابَ وَاِمَّا السَّاعَةَۜ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ مَكَاناً وَاَضْعَفُ جُنْداً

    Qul man kana fee addalalatifalyamdud lahu arrahmanu maddan hattaitha raaw ma yooAAadoona imma alAAathabawa-imma assaAAata fasayaAAlamoona man huwasharrun makanan waadAAafu junda

    Say: ‘As for those who are astray, let the All-Merciful prolong their term until they see what they were promised, whether it be the punishment or the Hour. Then they will know who is in the worse position and has the weaker troops.’

  • 76.

    وَيَز۪يدُ اللّٰهُ الَّذ۪ينَ اهْتَدَوْا هُدًىۜ وَالْبَاقِيَاتُ الصَّالِحَاتُ خَيْرٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَاباً وَخَيْرٌ مَرَداًّ

    Wayazeedu Allahu allatheenaihtadaw hudan walbaqiyatu assalihatukhayrun AAinda rabbika thawaban wakhayrun maradda

    Allah augments those who are guided by giving them greater guidance. In your Lord’s sight, right actions which are lasting are better both in reward and end result.

  • 77.

    اَفَرَاَيْتَ الَّذ۪ي كَفَرَ بِاٰيَاتِنَا وَقَالَ لَاُو۫تَيَنَّ مَالاً وَوَلَداًۜ

    Afaraayta allathee kafara bi-ayatinawaqala laootayanna malan wawalada

    Have you seen him who rejects Our Signs and says, ‘I will certainly be given wealth and children there. ’

  • 78.

    اَطَّـلَعَ الْغَيْبَ اَمِ اتَّخَذَ عِنْدَ الرَّحْمٰنِ عَهْداًۙ

    AttalaAAa alghayba ami ittakhathaAAinda arrahmani AAahda

    Has he surveyed the Unseen or has he a contract with the All-Merciful?

  • 79.

    كَلَّاۜ سَنَكْتُبُ مَا يَقُولُ وَنَمُدُّ لَهُ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ مَداًّۙ

    Kalla sanaktubu ma yaqooluwanamuddu lahu mina alAAathabi madda

    No indeed! We will write down what he says and prolong the punishment for him.

  • 80.

    وَنَرِثُهُ مَا يَقُولُ وَيَأْت۪ينَا فَرْداً

    Wanarithuhu ma yaqoolu waya/teenafarda

    We will inherit from him the things he is talking about and he will come to Us all alone.

  • 81.

    وَاتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ اٰلِهَةً لِيَكُونُوا لَهُمْ عِزاًّۙ

    Wattakhathoo min dooni Allahialihatan liyakoonoo lahum AAizza

    They have taken other gods besides Allah to be a source of power and strength for them!

  • 82.

    كَلَّاۜ سَيَكْفُرُونَ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ وَيَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضِداًّ۟

    Kalla sayakfuroona biAAibadatihimwayakoonoona AAalayhim didda

    No indeed! They will reject their worship and will be opposed to them.

  • 83.

    اَلَمْ تَرَ اَنَّٓا اَرْسَلْنَا الشَّيَاط۪ينَ عَلَى الْكَافِر۪ينَ تَؤُزُّهُمْ اَزاًّۙ

    Alam tara anna arsalna ashshayateenaAAala alkafireena taozzuhum azza

    Do you not see that We send the shaytans against those who are kafir to goad them on?

  • 84.

    فَلَا تَعْجَلْ عَلَيْهِمْۜ اِنَّمَا نَعُدُّ لَهُمْ عَداًّۚ

    Fala taAAjal AAalayhim innamanaAAuddu lahum AAadda

    So do not try to hasten their punishment. We are simply counting out the number of their days.

  • 85.

    يَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ الْمُتَّق۪ينَ اِلَى الرَّحْمٰنِ وَفْداًۙ

    Yawma nahshuru almuttaqeena ilaarrahmani wafda

    On that Day We will gather those who have taqwa to the All-Merciful with due ceremony.

  • 86.

    وَنَسُوقُ الْمُجْرِم۪ينَ اِلٰى جَهَنَّمَ وِرْداًۢ

    Wanasooqu almujrimeena ila jahannamawirda

    But We will drive the evildoers to Hell, like cattle to a watering hole.

  • 87.

    لَا يَمْلِكُونَ الشَّفَاعَةَ اِلَّا مَنِ اتَّخَذَ عِنْدَ الرَّحْمٰنِ عَهْداًۢ

    La yamlikoona ashshafaAAatailla mani ittakhatha AAinda arrahmaniAAahda

    They have no right of intercession. None do but those who have a contract with the All-Merciful.

  • 88.

    وَقَالُوا اتَّخَذَ الرَّحْمٰنُ وَلَداًۜ

    Waqaloo ittakhatha arrahmanuwalada

    They say, ‘The All-Merciful has a son. ’

  • 89.

    لَقَدْ جِئْتُمْ شَيْـٔاً اِداًّۙ

    Laqad ji/tum shay-an idda

    They have devised a monstrous thing.

  • 90.

    تَكَادُ السَّمٰوَاتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ وَتَنْشَقُّ الْاَرْضُ وَتَخِرُّ الْجِبَالُ هَداًّۙ

    Takadu assamawatuyatafattarna minhu watanshaqqu al-ardu watakhirrualjibalu hadda

    The heavens are all but rent apart and the earth split open and the mountains brought crashing down,

  • 91.

    اَنْ دَعَوْا لِلرَّحْمٰنِ وَلَداًۚ

    An daAAaw lirrahmaniwalada

    at their ascription of a son to the All-Merciful!

  • 92.

    وَمَا يَنْبَغ۪ي لِلرَّحْمٰنِ اَنْ يَتَّخِذَ وَلَداًۜ

    Wama yanbaghee lirrahmanian yattakhitha walada

    It is not fitting for the All-Merciful to have a son.

  • 93.

    اِنْ كُلُّ مَنْ فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ اِلَّٓا اٰتِي الرَّحْمٰنِ عَبْداًۜ

    In kullu man fee assamawatiwal-ardi illa atee arrahmaniAAabda

    There is no one in the heavens and earth who will not come to the All-Merciful as a slave.

  • 94.

    لَقَدْ اَحْصٰيهُمْ وَعَدَّهُمْ عَداًّۜ

    Laqad ahsahum waAAaddahum AAadda

    He has counted them and numbered them precisely.

  • 95.

    وَكُلُّهُمْ اٰت۪يهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ فَرْداً

    Wakulluhum ateehi yawma alqiyamatifarda

    Each of them will come to Him on the Day of Rising all alone.

  • 96.

    اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمُ الرَّحْمٰنُ وُداًّ

    Inna allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati sayajAAalu lahumu arrahmanuwudda

    As for those who have iman and do right actions, the All-Merciful will bestow His love on them.

  • 97.

    فَاِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لِتُبَشِّرَ بِهِ الْمُتَّق۪ينَ وَتُنْذِرَ بِه۪ قَوْماً لُداًّ

    Fa-innama yassarnahu bilisanikalitubashshira bihi almuttaqeena watunthira bihi qawmanludda

    We have made it easy on your tongue so that you can give good news to those who have taqwa and warn stubbornly hostile people by it.

  • 98.

    وَكَمْ اَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنْ قَرْنٍۜ هَلْ تُحِسُّ مِنْهُمْ مِنْ اَحَدٍ اَوْ تَسْمَعُ لَهُمْ رِكْزاً

    Wakam ahlakna qablahum min qarnin haltuhissu minhum min ahadin aw tasmaAAu lahum rikza

    How many generations We have destroyed before them! Do you see a trace of any one of them or hear even a whisper of them?
