37. Surah As-Saffat, Verse 106

Surely, this was an exacting test.

This was indeed a Trial, clear in itself. (Leaving the prestigious office of Chief Priesthood in Babylon and now the comfort of Syria for the wilderness of Makkah).

This was the clear trial.

Surely, this was an exacting test.

Surely, this was an exacting test.

This was indeed a most manifest trial.

That was an exacting test indeed.

That was indeed a trying test.

Indeed, this was the clear trial.

for, behold, all this was indeed a trial, clear in itself.

Lo! that verily was a clear test.

This was indeed a severe but a sure test of action and reaction echoing the true belief and the prevalent inclination.

This was indeed a great test.

Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial.

For this was obviously a trial-

That was truly a revealing test.

This was indeed a trial that clearly demonstrated (their obedience).

it was a test to prove [their true characters]-

This is indeed the manifest trial. '

This is surely an obvious trial. '

Most surely this is a manifest trial.

Surely this is indeed what is the evident trial. "

Verily this was a manifest trial.

Indeed, it was clearly a trial (for Ibrahim)—

That was obviously a disciplinary test (crowned with a mighty reward, )

This was indeed a manifest test. ’
