26. Surah Ash-Shu'ara, Verse 157

But they slaughtered her, and they became regretful.

But they killed her and made way for their own humiliation. (The usual rendering here of FAASBAHOO NADIMEEN that they regretted, repented or became penitent seems to be incorrect, since in that case the Most Gracious might have forgiven them).

But they hamstrung her, then they became remorseful,

But they slaughtered her, and they became regretful.

But they slaughtered her, and they became regretful.

But they hamstrung her and woke up full of remorse,

They slaughtered her, and thus incurred sorrow.

But they hamstrung her; and on the morrow were repentant,

But they hamstrung her and so became regretful.

But they cruelly slaughtered her - and then they had cause to regret it:

But they hamstrung her, and then were penitent.

Nevertheless they defiantly disabled her by cutting her hamstring muscles. (Their outrage on consecrated objects invited their ruin) which led to pining regrets and vain repentances.

Yet they slaughtered her and became regretful….

But they killed her, and then they became regretful.

But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets.

But they killed her, becoming regretful.

But they killed her, then they became remorseful,

But they hamstrung her. In the morning they had cause to regret it:

But they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful,

But they hamstrung her, and on the morrow they repented;

"Touch her not with evil, lest there seize you the retribution of an awful day. "

Yet they hamstrung her, (and) so they became remorseful.

But they slew her; and were made to repent of their impiety:

But they killed her (by cutting the hamstrings): Then they became full of sorrow.

Notwithstanding (all this warning) they hamstrung her and then they became regretful.

But they hamstrung her, whereupon they became regretful.
