74. Surah Al-Muddaththir, Verse 45

"And we used to participate with those who spoke falsehood. "

"And we were among those who used to say what they did not do. "

“And we discoursed vainly with those who discourse vainly,

"And we used to participate with those who spoke falsehood."

"We used to participate with those who spoke falsehood."

We plunged with those who plunged

"We blundered with the blunderers.

And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate,

And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it],

and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it;

We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders,

"We always joined those who delighted in idle talk and we were given to indulging in personal vanity and drowned ourselves in the nonsensical".

"We joined those who were mocking at religion. "

"And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allâh hated) with vain talkers.[1]

"But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers;

We used to indulge ˹in falsehood˺ along with others,

and we indulged (in mocking at the truth) along with those who indulged,

we indulged with others [in mocking the believers];

and we plunged along with the plungers,

but we did plunge into discussion with those who plunged,

"And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses.

And we used to wade with the waders, (i. e., wade in vaintalk).

and we waded in vain disputes, with the fallacious reasoners;

"And we used to speak idle-talk with those who spoke against Truth,

`And we indulged in vain talk along with those who indulged therein,

We used to gossip along with the gossipers,
