70. Surah Al-Ma'arij, Verse 21

And when good touches him he is stingy.

And niggardly when good reaches him.

And when good touches him, withholding —

And when good touches him he is stingy.

When good touches him he is stingy.

begrudging when good things come –

If blessed by wealth, stingy.

If good comes to him he holds back his hand,

And when good touches him, withholding [of it],

and whenever good fortune comes to him, he selfishly withholds it [from others].

And, when good befalleth him, grudging;

But if he has the luck and heaven prospers him, then he is niggardly, unwilling to give or spend in divine service and he says to his money "my god art thou".

and when God makes the man wealthy [instead of showing his gratefulness by becoming generous], he becomes stingy!

And niggardly when good touches him.

And niggardly when good reaches him;-

and withholding when touched with good—

and very niggard when visited by good (fortune),

but tight-fisted when good fortune comes his way.

when good visits him, grudging,

when good touches him, niggardly;

And niggardly when good befalls him

And when charity touches him, (he is) a constant preventer of it,

but when good befalleth him, he becometh niggardly:

And miserly when good reaches him—

But is niggardly when good falls to his lot.

and grudging when good comes his way
