68. Surah Al-Qalam, Verse 43

With their eyes subdued, humiliation will cover them. They were invited to prostrate when they were whole and able.

Their eyes drooping, humiliation will overwhelm them! And they had been repeatedly invited to prostrate when they were able.

Their eyes will be humbled, humiliation covering them, for they had been invited to the Submission when they were whole.

Lowered will be their eyes, disgrace overwhelming them. They had indeed been called to bow in homage when they were free of blame.

Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. And they used to be invited to prostration while they were sound.

downcast will be their eyes, with ignominy overwhelming them - seeing that they had been called upon [in vain] to prostrate themselves [before Him] while they were yet sound [and alive].

With eyes downcast, abasement stupefying them. And they had been summoned to prostrate themselves while they were yet unhurt.

They stand drooping their sight and drooping their souls, hollow-eyed, gazing in bewilderment and fear and gazing their souls away, mortified, despaired of hope and discredited by the base and ignominious cover of their quality and conduct; yet they were admonished in life to bow to the ground in adoration when conditions were wholesome but they did not

Their eyes full of shame and sorrow they will be reminded of the time that they had the opportunity to fall down in prostration and worship their Lord but they refused to.

Their eyes will be cast down and ignominy will cover them; they used to be called to prostrate themselves (offer prayers), while they were healthy and good (in the life of the world, but they did not).

Their eyes will be cast down,- ignominy will cover them; seeing that they had been summoned aforetime to bow in adoration, while they were whole, (and had refused).

with eyes downcast, totally covered with disgrace. For they were ˹always˺ called to prostrate ˹in the world˺ when they were fully capable ˹but they chose not to˺.

With their eyes downcast, they will be enveloped by ignominy. They used to be called upon to prostrate when they were healthy (but they did not.)

and their eyes will be downcast and they will be overwhelmed with shame: they were invited to prostrate themselves when they were safe [but refused].

humbled shall be their eyes, and abasement shall overspread them, for they had been summoned to bow themselves while they were whole.

Lowering their looks, abasement shall attack them, for they were called to adore while yet they were safe!

Their looks cast down, abasement shall overtake them seeing that they had been called upon to make obeisance indeed while yet they were safe.

Submissive will be their be holdings, (i. e., gazes) humbleness oppressing them. And they had been already called to prostrate themselves while (Literally: and) they were safe.

Their looks shall be cast down: Ignominy shall attend them: For that they were invited to the worship of God, while they were in safety, but would not hear.

Their eyes will be cast down— Intense shame will cover them: Seeing that they had been summoned before to prostrate themselves (in love and prayer to Allah and His admiration) while they were whole, (human beings in this world and they had refused).

Their looks will be downcast and they will be overwhelmed with disgrace. (Before this state of theirs) they had been called upon to prostrate themselves (before God) while they were (still) safe and sound (but they had refused).

With a humbled look [in their eyes], they will be overcast by abasement. Certainly they were summoned to prostrate themselves while they were yet sound.
