3. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 137

Many nations have come before you, so roam the Earth and see how the punishment for the liars was.

Systems have passed away before you. (Man-made systems before you, and now before your eyes, are there to reflect upon). Do but travel in the land and see the outcome of nations that rejected the Divine Laws.

Practices have passed away before you; so travel in the earth and see how was the final outcome of the deniers.

Many nations have come before you, so roam the earth and see how the punishment was for the deniers.

Many nations have come before you. So roam the earth and see what the consequence of the liars was.

Whole societies have passed away before your time, so travel about the earth and see the final fate of the deniers.

Precedents have been set for you in the past; roam the earth and note the consequences for the unbelievers.

There have been many dispensations before you; so travel in the land and see what befell those who denied the truth.

Similar situations [as yours] have passed on before you, so proceed throughout the earth and observe how was the end of those who denied.

[MANY] WAYS of life have passed away before your time. Go, then, about the earth and behold what happened in the end to those who gave the lie to the truth:

Systems have passed away before you. Do but travel in the land and see the nature of the consequence for those who did deny (the messengers).

A narration of events, modes of action and examples from ages past serve as evidence for each instance forming a particular case of principle and a signal instance of punishment. Therefore, journey the land you Muslims and pause to think and meditate what you see with your minds’ eyes in order to realize the fatal consequence which united all those who persisted in their intentional assertion of falsehood.

As to those who turned their back [to the revelations of God and chose the disobedience] you may see their miserable end for yourselves by traveling on earth [and passing through their ruins. ]

Many similar ways (and mishaps of life) were faced by nations (believers and disbelievers) that have passed away before you (as you have faced in the battle of Uhud), so travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who disbelieved (in the Oneness of Allâh, and disobeyed Him and His Messengers).

Many were the Ways of Life that have passed away before you: travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who rejected Truth.

Similar situations came to pass before you, so travel throughout the land and see the fate of the deniers.

Many patterns of behavior have passed before you. So, traverse the land and see what was the fate of those who rejected (the prophets).

God’s ways have operated before your time: travel through the land, and see what was the end of those who disbelieved.

Divers institutions have passed away before you; journey in the land, and behold how was the end of those that cried lies.

Incidents have passed before your time, go on then in the earth, and see what was the end of those who called (the prophets) liars.

Systems have passed away before your time. Do travel in the earth, and see what was the consequence of those who denied (the prophets or Allah’s guidance).

Enactments (Reward for good or punishment for evil) have already passed away before you; so travel in the earth, then look into how was the end of the beliers.

There have already been before you examples of punishment of infidels, therefore go through the earth, and behold what hath been the end of those who accuse God's apostles of imposture.

There were many Ways of Life that have passed away before you: Travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who rejected Truth.

Surely, there have been diverse dispensations before you, so travel in the land and see how evil was the fate of those who cried lies (to the Prophets).

Certain [Divine] precedents have passed before you. So travel over the land and then observe how was the fate of the deniers.
