26. Surah Ash-Shu'ara, Verse 128

"Do you build on every high place a symbol, for the sake of vanity!"

You build on every height monuments of vanity.

“Build you a proof on every prominence, amusing yourselves

"Do you build on every high place a symbol, for the sake of vanity!"

"Do you build on every high place a symbol, for the sake of vanity!"

Do you build a tower on every hilltop, just to amuse yourselves,

"You build on every hill a mansion for vanity's sake.

You construct monuments on every hill in vain,

Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves,

"Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idola­trous] altars on every height,

Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight?

"Do you erect buildings", he added, "on the top of every mount and every height, mansions and stately buildings standing in the landscape, conspicuous to view as though they are landmarks (yet not as a guide nor a mark of an event) serving no useful purpose and of no avail!"

"On every high ground You build a monument to satisfy your vanity. "

"Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them?

"Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves?

˹Why˺ do you build a landmark on every high place in vanity,

Do you erect on every height a monument, having no sound purpose,

How can you be so vain that you set up monuments on every high place?

What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting,

Do ye build on every height a landmark in sport,

"I ask of you no fee for it; my wage is only the concern of the Lord of the Worlds.

Do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting? (i. e., huge prominence inspiring fear)

Do ye build a land-mark on every high place, to divert yourselves?

"Do you build an important place on every high place to bring joy to yourselves?

`What is (wrong with you)? You build a monument on every prominent place, in vain you do it.

Do you futilely build a sign on every prominence?
