23. Surah Al-Mu'minun, Verse 67

You were too proud from it, talking evil about it; and you defiantly disregarded it.

In arrogance, talking nonsense about these Verses like people telling fables far into the night.

“Waxing proud thereat, talking to no purpose into the night.”

Youwere too proud from it, talking evil about it; and you defiantly disregarded it.

You were too proud from it, talking evil about it; and you defiantly disregarded it.

arrogant towards it, talking arrant nonsense all night long. ’

You were too arrogant to accept them, and you defiantly disregarded them.

Insolently, treating them like tales told at night. "

In arrogance regarding it, conversing by night, speaking evil.

[and, ] impelled by your arrogance, you would talk senselessly far into the night. "

In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together.

"Ostentatiously exhibiting pride and inordinate self-esteem, making jokes and making it -the Quran- the object of your jokes rendering it as something ridiculous that should be disregarded and neglected. "

You showed arrogance and ridiculed the Messenger of Mine in your private parties.

In pride (they - Quraish pagans and polytheists of Makkah used to feel proud that they are the dwellers of Makkah sanctuary - Haram), talking evil about it (the Qur’ân) by night.

"In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night."

boasting of the Sacred House, and babbling ˹nonsense about the Quran˺ by night."

in arrogance, making it a subject of tales at night, talking nonsense (about it)."

and spent the evening making fun of [the Quran].’

waxing proud against it, talking foolish talk by night. '

big with pride at it, in vain discourse by night.

My revelations were recited to you, but you turned back upon your heels,

Waxing proud against it, forsaking it for entertainment. "

Proudly elating your selves because of your possessing the holy temple; discoursing together by night, and talking foolishly.

"In defiance, (while) talking nonsense about (the Quran), like someone is saying (false) stories by night. "

`Treating them with disdain and arrogance, talking nonsense about this (Qur'ân) by night (in your meetings), you gave (it) up. '

being disdainful of it, talking nonsense in your nightly sessions. ’
