And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned, for indeed, it is grave disobedience. And indeed do the devils inspire their allies [among men] to dispute with you. And if you were to obey them, indeed, you would be associators [of others with Him].
- Muhammad Asad
Hence, eat not of that over which God's name has not been pronounced: for this would be sinful conduct indeed. And, verily, the evil impulses [within men's hearts] whisper unto those who have made them their own that they should involve you in argument [as to what is and what is not a sin]; and if you pay heed unto them, lo! you will become [like] those who ascribe divinity to other beings or forces beside God.
- Marmaduke Pickthall

Therefore do not eat of the flesh of the permitted animal which has not been slaughtered under the invocation of Allah's Name; this is impiety. The Satanic suggest to the minds of those similarly disposed to contend with you with opposing arguments, and should you yield to their incitement of evil, you will have reverted to paganism.
- Bijan Moeinian
Do not eat the meat of the animal over which the name of God [as a sign of asking God's permission for its slaughter] is not mentioned at the time of the slaughter; this is indeed sinful. The evil ones dispute the Lord's commandments [asking for the wisdom of the laws like this] with you. If you give in to them, you have joined them in disbelief.
- Al-Hilali & Khan
Eat not (O believers) of that (meat) on which Allâh’s Name has not been pronounced (at the time of the slaughtering of the animal), for sure it is Fisq (a sin and disobedience of Allâh). And certainly, the Shayâtîn (devils) do inspire their friends (from mankind) to dispute with you, and if you obey them[1] [by making Al-Maitah (a dead animal) legal by eating it], then you would indeed be Mushrikûn (polytheists); [because they (devils and their friends) made lawful to you to eat that which Allâh has made unlawful to eat and you obeyed them by considering it lawful to eat, and by doing so you worshipped them; and to worship others besides Allâh is polytheism].
- Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Do not eat of what is not slaughtered in Allah’s Name. For that would certainly be ˹an act of˺ disobedience. Surely the devils whisper to their ˹human˺ associates to argue with you.[1] If you were to obey them, then you ˹too˺ would be polytheists.

But consume not of that over which the name of Allah has not been pronounced, for, verily, it is an abomination. Verily, the devils inspire their friends to dispute with you. But if you obey them, then you will be, indeed, idolaters.
- Mahmoud Ghali
And do not eat of that over which The Name of Allah has not been mentioned, and surely it is indeed an immorality. And surely Ash-Shayatîn (The all-vicious "ones", i.e., the devil) do indeed reveal to their patrons to dispute with you. And in case you obey them, (then) surely you are indeed associators (i.e., those who associate others with Allah).
