46. Surah Al-Ahqaf, Verse 8
اَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرٰيهُۜ قُلْ اِنِ افْتَرَيْتُهُ فَلَا تَمْلِكُونَ ل۪ي مِنَ اللّٰهِ شَيْـٔاًۜ هُوَ اَعْلَمُ بِمَا تُف۪يضُونَ ف۪يهِۜ كَفٰى بِه۪ شَه۪يداً بَيْن۪ي وَبَيْنَكُمْۜ وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّح۪يمُ
Am yaqooloona iftarahu qul iniiftaraytuhu fala tamlikoona lee mina Allahi shay-anhuwa aAAlamu bima tufeedoona feehi kafa bihishaheedan baynee wabaynakum wahuwa alghafooru arraheem
Or do they say, ‘He has invented it’? Say: ‘If I have invented it, then you possess no power to help me against Allah in any way. He knows best what you hold forth about. He is witness enough between me and you. He is the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.’

Do they mean by "plain magic" that the Prophet himself has fabricated the Qur’an. If so, tell them: “If I have fabricated the Qur’an, God is going to punish me and none of you can save me. God knows that your accusations are baseless and He will be judge between you and me.
