14. Surah Ibrahim, Verse 45

And you resided in the homes of those who had wronged themselves, and it was made clear to you what We did to them. And We had cited the examples to you.

"You dwelled in the homes and towns where people before you had dwelt and wronged themselves oppressing the weak. And you were made well aware of how Our Law of Requital dealt with them. And We gave you plenty of examples."

“And you dwelt in the dwellings of those who wronged their souls; and it was made clear to you how We did with them; and We struck similitudes for you.”

Andyou resided in the dwellings of those who had wronged themselves, and it was made clear to you what We did to them; and We had put forth the examples for you.

You even resided in the homes of those who had wronged themselves, and it was made clear to you what We did to them. We had cited the examples to you.

even though you inhabited the houses of those who had wronged themselves and it was made clear to you how We had dealt with them and We gave you many examples?’

You dwelled in the homes of those before you, who wronged their souls, and you have seen clearly what we did to them. We have set many precedents for you.

Yet you dwelt in the dwellings of those who had exceeded themselves, and it was evident to you how We had dealt with them; and We held out examples before you. "

And you lived among the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them. And We presented for you [many] examples."

And yet, you dwelt in the dwelling-places of those who had sinned against their own selves [before your time], and it was made obvious to you how We had dealt with them: for We have set forth unto you many a parable [of sin, resurrection and divine retribution]. "

And (have ye not) dwelt in the dwellings of those who wronged themselves (of old) and (hath it not) become plain to you how We dealt with them and made examples for you?

"You dwelt in the abode of those* who were wrongful of actions and much did you apprehend the quiet of their cities which was purchased by the ruin of their land and the ultimate wretchedness of both. And We discoursed to you parables by which moral and spiritual relations were typically set forth."

Remember that you live in the same land that its people wronged their souls. You know exactly how I punished them. Learn from such examples.

"And you dwelt in the dwellings of men who wronged themselves, and it was clear to you how We had dealt with them. And We put forth (many) parables for you."

"And ye dwelt in the dwellings of men who wronged their own souls; ye were clearly shown how We dealt with them; and We put forth (many) parables in your behoof!"

You passed by the ruins of those ˹destroyed peoples˺ who had wronged themselves.[1] It was made clear to you how We dealt with them, and We gave you ˹many˺ examples.

And you dwelt in the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it became clear to you how We dealt with them, and We put forth for you the examples."

You lived in the same places as others who wronged themselves before, and you were clearly shown how We dealt with them––We gave you many examples.

And you dwelt in the dwelling-places of those who wronged themselves, and it became clear to you how We did with them, and how We struck similitudes for you.

And ye dwelt in the dwellings of those who had wronged themselves; and it was made plain to you how we did with them; and we struck out parables for you:

"And you dwelt in the dwellings of those who had wronged their own souls; and it was made plain to you how We dealt with them; and We struck out many parables for you. "

And you dwelt in the dwellings of the ones who did injustice to themselves, and it became evident to you how We performed with them, and We have struck similitudes for you.

Yet ye dwelt in the dwellings of those who had treated their own souls unjustly; and it appeared plainly unto you how We had dealt with them; and We propounded their destruction as examples unto you.

"And you lived in the houses of men who harmed their own souls; And it was clear how We dealt with them; And We set out (many) parables to properly warn!"

`(You said this though) you occupied the dwelling places of those who had wronged themselves and it had been clear to you how We had dealt with them (- the unjust). We have set forth all these descriptions for you clearly.'

while you dwelt in the dwellings of those who had wronged themselves [before], and it had been made clear to you how We had dealt with them [before you], and We had [also] cited examples for you?’
