65. Surah At-Talaq, Verse 8

Many a community rebelled against the commands of its Lord and His messengers. Thus, We called them to account, and requited them a terrible requital.

And how many a community has rebelled against the Command of its Lord and His Messengers! Hence, We called each to account with a stern accounting and punished it with an exemplary punishment.

And how many a city scorned the command of its Lord and His messengers so We called it to a stern account and punished it with a terrible punishment!

Many a town rebelled against the command of its Lord and His messengers. Thus, We called them to account severely, and We punished them a terrible punishment.

Many a community rebelled against the commands of its Lord and His messengers. Thus, We called them to account, and requited them a terrible requital.

How many cities spurned their Lord’s command and His Messengers! And so We called them harshly to account and punished them with a terrible punishment.

Many a community rebelled against the commands of its Lord and against His messengers. Consequently, we held them strictly accountable, and requited them a terrible requital.

How many habitations rebelled against their Lord's command and His apostles; but We took them to severe task, and punished them with the harshest punishment.

And how many a city was insolent toward the command of its Lord and His messengers, so We took it to severe account and punished it with a terrible punishment.

AND HOW MANY a community has turned with disdain from the commandment of its Sustainer and His apostles! -whereupon We callled them all to account with an accounting severe, and caused them to suffer with a suffering unnameable:

And how many a community revolted against the ordinance of its Lord and His messengers, and We called it to a stern account and punished it with dire punishment,

A good many townships contemptuously challenged their Creator's ordinances and the admonitions of His Messengers and We laid their disobedience to their charge and imputed their evil, and requited them with unsparing penalty and a condign punishment!

There have been many communities who had rebelled against the laws of their Lord relayed to them by God’s Messengers. I (God) dealt with them accordingly and severely punished them.

And many a town (population) revolted against the Command of its Lord and His Messengers; and We called it to a severe account (i.e. torment in this worldly life), and We shall punish it with a horrible torment (in Hell in the Hereafter).

How many populations that insolently opposed the Command of their Lord and of His messengers, did We not then call to account,- to severe account?- and We imposed on them an exemplary Punishment.

˹Imagine˺ how many societies rebelled against the commandments of their Lord and His messengers, so We called each ˹society˺ to a severe account and subjected them to a horrible punishment.

And how many a township rebelled against the command of its Lord, and against His messengers, so We called them to a severe account, and punished them with a punishment that was unimagined by them.

Many a town that insolently opposed the command of its Lord and His messengers We have brought sternly to account: We punished them severely

How many a city turned in disdain from the commandment of its Lord and His Messengers; and then We made with it a terrible reckoning and chastised it with a horrible chastisement.

How many a city has turned away from the bidding of its Lord and His apostles; and we called them to a severe account, and we tormented them with an unheard-of torment!

And how many a community rebelled against the commandment of its Lord and His Messengers, so We called it to account severely and We chastised it with a stern chastisement.

And (similarly) (many) a town there has been that rebelled against the Command of its Lord and His Messengers, so We reckoned with it a strict reckoning, and tormented it a highly maleficent torment!

How many cities have turned aside from the command of their Lord and his apostles? Wherefore We brought them to a severe account; and We chastised them with a grievous chastisement:

And how many towns (populations) that proudly opposed the command of their Lord and of His messengers; And have We called (them) to account— To severe account? And We imposed on them a strict punishment.

So many (people of) townships rebelled against the command of their Lord and His Messengers so that We reckoned with them sternly and punished them with a dire punishment.

How many a town defied the command of its Lord and His apostles, then We called it to a severe account and punished it with a dire punishment.
