6. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 136

And they made for God a portion of what He provided them of crops and the livestock; they said: "This is for God, " by their claims, "And this is for our partners. " So what was for their partners did not reach God, and what was for God, it reached their partners! Miserable is how they judged.

(How can their program succeed when their belief system and the resulting actions are wrong?) They set aside a portion of Allah's provision of crops and cattle and claim, "This is for Allah, and this is for our idols. " But the share of their idols never reaches Allah, and the share of Allah does reach their idols. What an unjust decision they make! (Their priesthood devours both portions of their making, and the poor remain wanting. To Allah reaches what you spend on the needy (6:141)).

And they make for God, of what He creates of tilth and cattle, a portion; they say: “This is for God,” — according to their claim — “and this is for our partners”. And what is for their partners, it does not reach God; and what is for God, it reaches their partners. Evil is what they judge.

And they made for God a portion of what He provided them from the crops and the livestock; they said: "This is for God," by their claims, "And this is for our partners." So what was for their partners did not reach God, and what was for God, it reached their partners! Miserable is how they judged.

Of crops and the livestock He provided, they set aside a portion for God, they said, "This is for God," according to their claim, "This is for our partners." However, what was for their partners did not reach God, while what was for God reached their partners! Miserable is how they judged.

They assign to Allah a share of the crops and livestock He has created, saying, ‘This is for Allah,’ – as they allege – ‘and this is for our idols. ’ Their idols’ share does not reach Allah whereas Allah’s share reaches their idols! What an evil judgement they make!

They even set aside a share of GOD's provisions of crops and livestock, saying, "This share belongs to GOD," according to their claims, "and this share belongs to our idols." However, what was set aside for their idols never reached GOD, while the share they set aside for GOD invariably went to their idols. Miserable indeed is their judgment.

They allocate a share from God's own created fields and cattle to God, and they say: "This is God's" -- or so they think -- "and that, of the compeers of God," so that what belongs to the compeers does not reach God, but that which is God's may reach the compeers (set up by them). How bad is the judgement that they make!

And the polytheists assign to Allah from that which He created of crops and livestock a share and say, "This is for Allah," by their claim, " and this is for our partners [associated with Him]. " But what is for their "partners" does not reach Allah , while what is for Allah - this reaches their "partners." Evil is that which they rule.

AND OUT OF whatever He has created of the fruits of the field and the cattle, they assign unto God a portion, saying, "This belongs to God"-or so they [falsely] claim - "and this is for those beings who, we are convinced, have a share in God's divinity. " But that which is assigned to the beings associated in their minds with God does not bring [them] closer to God - whereas that which is assigned to God brings [them but] closer to those beings to whom they ascribe a share in His divinity. Bad, indeed, is their judgment!

They assign unto Allah, of the crops and cattle which He created, a portion, and they say: "This is Allah's" - in their make-believe - "and this is for (His) partners in regard to us." Thus that which (they assign) unto His partners in them reacheth not Allah and that which (they assign) unto Allah goeth to their (so-called) partners. Evil is their ordinance.

And the idolaters, in their corrupted minds, portion out to Allah a share of what He Himself has created of crops and cattle, and another share they apportion to their idols which they regard as their predominant partners. And what they apportion to their partners reach them in full*; whereas what is apportioned to Allah is hardly spent in divine service**. Evil indeed is the proposition their minds assent to.

These disbelievers [as the expression of their gratitude and charity] devote a part of their [agricultural/ cattle increase] to Allah [Arabic name of God] and then [out of ignorance] devote another part to the ones that they have made [in their imaginations] the Lord's partners! [The funny thing is], they do not mind to use the Lord's portion of the charity for themselves but consider the idol's part a sin to touch! What evil games they play.

And they assign to Allâh a share of the tilth and cattle which He has created, and they say: "This is for Allâh according to their claim, and this is for our (Allâh’s so-called) partners." But the share of their (Allâh’s so-called) "partners" reaches not Allâh, while the share of Allâh reaches their (Allâh’s so-called) "partners"! Evil is the way they judge!

Out of what Allah hath produced in abundance in tilth and in cattle, they assigned Him a share: they say, according to their fancies: "This is for Allah, and this" - for our "partners"! but the share of their" partners "reacheth not Allah, whilst the share of Allah reacheth their "partners"! evil (and unjust) is their assignment!

The pagans set aside for Allah a share of the crops and cattle He created, saying, "This ˹portion˺ is for Allah," so they claim, “and this ˹one˺ for our associate-gods.” Yet the portion of their associate-gods is not shared with Allah while Allah’s portion is shared with their associate-gods. What unfair judgment!

They have assigned a portion for Allah from the tillage and the cattle created by Him, and then said, "This is for Allah", so they claim, “And this is for our associate-gods.” Then, that which is allocated for their associate-gods never reaches Allah, while that which is allocated for Allah does reach their associate-gods. Evil is what they judge.

They apportion to God a share of the produce and the livestock He created, saying, ‘This is for God’- so they claim!- ‘ and this is for our idols.’ Their idols’ share does not reach God, but God’s share does reach their idols: how badly they judge!

They appoint to God, of the tillage and cattle that He multiplied, a portion, saying, 'This is for God' -- so they assert -- 'and this is for our associates. ' So what is for their associates reaches not God; and what is for God reaches their associates. Evil is their judgment!

They set apart for God, from what He raises of tilth and of cattle, a portion, and they say, 'This is God's;' - as they pretend - ' and this is for our associates;' but that which is for their associates reaches not to God, and that which was for God does reach to their associates;- evil is it what they judge.

They set apart a portion for Allah, from that which He raises in abundance, of tilth and of cattle, and they say, according to their fancies "This is for Allah and this is for (His) partner. " But the share of their "partners" reaches not to Allah, and that which was for Allah reaches their "partner". Evil is their judgment.

And they made for Allah of whatever tillage and cattle that He propagated, an assignment; so they said, "This is for Allah, " according to their assertion, and, "This is for Allah" according to their assertion, and, "This is for our associates. " (i.e., what they associate with Allah) So, whatever is for their associates does not get to Allah, and whatever is for Allah, then (this is what) gets to their associates. Odious is whatever (way) they judge!

Those of Mecca set apart unto God a portion of that which he hath produced of the fruits of the earth, and of cattle; and say, this belongeth unto God, -- according to their imaginations, -- and this unto our companions. And that which is destined for their companions cometh not unto God; yet that which is set apart unto God cometh unto their companions. How ill do they judge!

And out of what Allah has produced in plenty as crops and as cattle, they assigned Him a share: And they say, according to their wish: "This is for Allah, and this— For Our ‘partners’!" But the share of their ‘partners’ does not reach Allah, whereas, the share of Allah reaches their ‘partners’! Evil (and unjust) is how they judge!

They allocate to Allâh a portion out of what He has produced of the tillage and the cattle, and they say, `This is for Allâh,' - according to their fancies - `and this is (set apart) for our gods (we associate with Allâh). ' Then what is for their associate-gods never goes over to Allâh, but what is (set apart) for Allâh does (often) go over to their associate-gods. How ill they judge!

They dedicate to Allah out of what He has created of the crops and cattle a portion, and say, ‘This is for Allah,’ so do they maintain, ‘and this is for our partners. ’ But what is for their partners does not reach Allah, and what is for Allah reaches their partners. Evil is the judgement that they make.
