27. Surah An-Naml, Verse 21

"I will punish him severely, or I will kill him, else he should have an clear excuse. "

(Absconding from the marching army was a breach of discipline. ) Solomon said, "Unless the commander presented a good reason I would punish him or demote him to a low rank."

“I will punish him with a severe punishment, or I will slaughter him, unless he brings me a clear authority.”

"I will punish him severely, or I will kill him, else he should have a clear excuse."

"I will punish him severely, or I will kill him, else he should have a clear excuse."

I will certainly punish it most severely or slaughter it if it does not bring me clear authority. ’

"I will punish him severely or sacrifice him, unless he gives me a good excuse."

I will punish him severely, or cut his throat, unless he bring a valid excuse. "

I will surely punish him with a severe punishment or slaughter him unless he brings me clear authorization. "

[If so, ] I will punish him most severely or will kill him unless he bring me a convincing excuse!"

I verily will punish him with hard punishment or I verily will slay him, or he verily shall bring me a plain excuse.

"I will punish him severely", he said, "or I will slaughter him unless he gives me a convincing excuse!"

[Solomon became angry at his absence and said:] "If he does not come up with a good excuse, I will punish him severely or even execute him. "

"I will surely punish him with a severe torment, or slaughter him, unless he brings me a clear reason."

"I will certainly punish him with a severe penalty, or execute him, unless he bring me a clear reason (for absence)."

I will surely subject him to a severe punishment, or ˹even˺ slaughter him, unless he brings me a compelling excuse."

I will punish him with a severe punishment or slaughter him unless he brings to me a clear plea."

I will punish him severely, or kill him, unless he brings me a convincing excuse for his absence.’

Assuredly I will chastise him with a terrible chastisement, or I will slaughter him, or he bring me a clear authority. '

I will surely torment him with a severe torment; or I will surely slaughter him; or he shall bring me obvious authority. '

And he reviewed the birds, and said, "How is it that I see not the hoopoe (perhaps used as a spy, messenger or observer or symbolizing one)? Is he then amongst the absent?

Indeed I will definitely torment him with a strict torment or indeed I will definitely slay him, or indeed he should definitely come up to me with an evident, all-binding authority. "

Verily I will chastise her with a severe chastisement, or I will put her to death; unless she bring me a just excuse.

"I will really punish him with a harsh penalty, or (even) kill him, unless he brings to me a clear reason (for being absent). "

`I will certainly punish him very severely, rather I will execute him or else he must give me some valid excuse (for remaining absent).

‘I will surely punish him with a severe punishment, or I will surely behead him, unless he brings a clear-cut excuse. ’
