2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 232
وَاِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَٓاءَ فَبَلَغْنَ اَجَلَهُنَّ فَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ اَنْ يَنْكِحْنَ اَزْوَاجَهُنَّ اِذَا تَرَاضَوْا بَيْنَهُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ ذٰلِكَ يُوعَظُ بِه۪ مَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۜ ذٰلِكُمْ اَزْكٰى لَكُمْ وَاَطْهَرُۜ وَاللّٰهُ يَعْلَمُ وَاَنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
Wa-itha tallaqtumu annisaafabalaghna ajalahunna fala taAAduloohunna an yankihnaazwajahunna itha taradaw baynahum bilmaAAroofithalika yooAAathu bihi man kanaminkum yu/minu billahi walyawmi al-akhirithalikum azka lakum waatharu wallahuyaAAlamu waantum la taAAlamoon
When you divorce women and they are near the end of their ‘idda, do not prevent them from marrying their first husbands if they have mutually agreed to it with correctness and courtesy. This is an admonition for those of you who have iman in Allah and the Last Day. That is better and purer for you. Allah knows and you do not know.
